Brian James Trailers: Race transporters, redefined

Anyone with a race car or high-value road/collector vehicle will tell you that not all transporters are created equal. But that gap in quality has been pushed even wider with the arrival of the Race Transporter 7 from Brian James Trailers.

While the Brian James Trailers name widely known and trusted in Europe, it’s just now launching here in the States, and a nationwide dealer network is in the process of being established. The new Race Transporter 7 joins an existing Brian James Trailers product range that includes other models of enclosed car haulers as well as open car haulers and equipment, dump, flatbed, plant and cargo trailers.

The Race Transporter 7 was designed with the relatively straightforward aim of making loading, transporting and unloading cars as safe, efficient and effortless as possible, but there’s nothing ordinary about how this idea has been pressed into service.

Let’s start with the basics: Getting the car in and out of the transporter. In an industry first, the rear loading door and tilt-bed system are fully remote controlled. Operators can use either a wireless key fob or the integrated electronic control hub mounted inside the front door to load and unload valuable cargo with zero manual handling.

It’s versatile, too: With both twin and tri-axle models available, the Race Transporter 7 can support a maximum load capacity of up to 2,235kg (4,927lb), meaning it can comfortable carry anything from lightweight single-seaters to heavy touring cars.

Large twin side doors provide direct access to the vehicle inside, while front hatches allow operators to secure straps without climbing inside the transporter – a feature that has drawn praise from race teams and private owners alike.

A new composite flooring system offers improved strength at a lighter weight than traditional materials, which translates into improved grip underfoot, and an overall reduction in trailer weight for more efficient towing.

Full-length LED interior trips, side-mounted reversing lights, loading lights and sleek exterior lighting for day and night operations all come as standard, while the electric winch is fitted with a synthetic rope in place of the more common steel cable. Operated by wireless remote, the Race Transporter 7s winch is lighter, safer, and kinder to paintwork and body panels.

Low clearance? No problem. The assistor ramps have been engineered with the lowest ground clearance vehicles in mind, meaning hassle-free loading of GT and prototype cars.

And once the vehicle is safely loaded, the trailer’s powered, actuator-driven door removes all the heavy lifting and manual handling that comes with traditional trailers.

It’s a feature-heavy piece of kit – and that’s just in standard spec. No two race cars or collector vehicles are exactly alike, and with that in mind, the Race Transporter 7 has a long list of customization options, including:

  • Awning, which can be deployable on one or both sides for weather protection and trackside workspace.
  • 360° vision via a four-camera system linked to a wireless in-cabin monitor, providing full visibility when manoeuvring.
  • An expanded store cabin featuring four 20L Jerry can mounts, six removable bins, and an aluminium triple-grip fascia.
  • An upgraded heavy-duty electric winch with a 9,500 lbs capacity with multi-slide mounting system and wireless remote.
  • A tire rack with an optional conversion kit for a fold-out workbench.
  • An additional 220mm (8.66 inches) of interior clearance for taller vehicles.
  • Race ramps with integrated storage.
  • Floor storage trays featuring composite spring-assisted lids, providing ideal stowage for tools and spares.
  • A roof-mounted solar panel that trickle charges the onboard battery for off-grid use.
  • Mains power & USB charging, with integrated sockets and charging points for power tools, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Additional spare wheel with a choice of alloy or steel, mounted conveniently at the front with protective cover.

With these options, the Race Transporter 7 transforms into a fully-equipped bespoke mobile garage, giving teams and owners everything they need on the road or at the track.
