Album covers are copyrighted. While the lettering is simple enough not to be copyrightable, the choice of font, colour, position, size are all artistic choices which make the whole image copyrightable. The individual elements may be copyright free, but as a whole the image is copyrighted. JD554 (talk) 07:09, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This whole thing has been discussed already and I do not see why we should delete it now. In any case a {{PD-ineligible}} or {{PD-textlogo}} is sufficient. So some other admin: Speedy close! --ALE! ¿…? 11:46, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know it has been discussed before - I added the link at the top. However, that was two years ago and I've used arguments that weren't brought up back then. Feel free to discuss them. --JD554 (talk) 16:18, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
JD554, did you not read {{PD-textlogo}}? It clearly states that this image is in the public domain because it does not meet the threshold of originality. The image consists of text on a background and can't be copyrighted. Here are some similar images: File:BBC2W logo.png, File:ADK logo.svg, File:CSC Logo.svg. – Zntrip 17:07, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The text logo on it's own, I agree is PD-textlogo, but as I've stated above, the descision to place it in that position, on that background, at that size, and to use those colours are all artisitic choices which make the complete image (ie the square black background with the text logo in its centre) copyrightable. --JD554 (talk) 19:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Did you not take a look at my example images? All involve some colored background and a geometric shape. Look, you have no argument. A black square with a word on it is not a copyrightable work. – Zntrip 23:44, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
