July pth.—Senegal Sparrow hatched. July TOth.—Cape Sparrows left nest. One of the young-ones appears to be abnormal, as it has a broad white patch acrossthe wings. July I2ih.—Russ Weaver sitting. July I ph.—Red Ground Dove sitting. July /^//k—Orchard Finch sitting again. PlumbeousQuail chicks now strong on wing. July 15th.—Tinamou sitting again. Whilst looking fornests I stepped on and crushed three young, day-old MistoSeedfinches. These birds make their nests in the long grass,and cover them over with the growing grass blades.
