Description
English: On the picture: the Sacred Spring (left) and a ‘Theotokos Hodigitria’ icon (= ‘Birth-Giver of God’ + ‘She who shows the Way’). Meaning of the iconography: The Virgin Mary is holding the Child Jesus at her side, while pointing to Him as the source of salvation for mankind.

On a private site my pictures were often commented by a man who once won a television quiz on Belgian television, specialist subject Turkey. His comments are well-researched, he has a huge archive and speaks Turkish. Hence if sometimes use his comments.
