a phenomenon of diffusion of light incident on particles of matter, of smaller dimensions or comparable to the wavelengths of this light.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The eponym of the Tyndall effect is the Irish scientist and mountaineer John Tyndall (1820-1893) who first described it in 1869; however, he did not give a complete description. It was the physicist Gustav Mie who studied it rigorously, starting in 1908 (Mie theory)

The effect is also known as the Faraday-Tyndal effect (medicine) The Tyndall effect helps explain the blue/green colors in some people's eyes. Indeed, the reflection of light against the stroma and the pigment epithelium causes it to diffract differently depending on the wavelengths. Blue light will thus be diffracted more than red light, which will give a blue color to the iris.

Additionally, it is important to note that people with blue/green eyes have less pigment in the iris than a person with brown-black or yellow-brown eyes.
