File talk:Flag of Haiti.svg
Extension
[edit]- This looks like a png image embedded in an svg image. Isn't that a bad thing? Bawolff 02:37, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, it could have been run through a tracer or too, but usually, drawing seals on flags, or irregular shapes, is the hardest to do. Zscout370 03:15, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- It isn't traced. It's an actual PNG image embedded in an SVG wrapper. User:dbenbenn 18:29, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
- Not anymore. Now it's *pure* SVG. Denelson83 08:21, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Coat of arms
[edit]The current coat of arms seem to be correct as shown here [1], at the funeral of the late Duvalier. Also here [2], Washington Post; Latin Bureau [3] Savvyjack23 (talk) 05:59, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
In my opinion there has been some reverse engineering, since the flag on wikipedia began to be taken as the "source" flag, it began to be used by commercial flag companies, studying various government photos I almost never find a photo with the flag where the green takes up all the space at the bottom. - I'm pretty sure the dimensions across the web have come from copying this wiki flag (that's why I'd like to change the dimensions of the central panel to match more official images as per the request at the bottom of this page), but according to this the coat of arms not stretching all the way across the panel is only on the presidential flag (which also has a yellow border)
- If that's true, then it's actually File:Presidential_Standard_of_Haiti.svg which needs fixing.
This makes sense because in photos of officials, I've only found the non-stretched version in the president's flag and not in other usage.Actually, they don't even seem consistent with that. This appears to be the presidential flag (see the yellow border) but with the coat of arms stretched across the entire panel: https://images.radio-canada.ca/v1/ici-info/16x9/haiti-jovenel-moise.jpg- The Haitian embassy in Washington uses the "full-green" version: https://www.haiti.org/flag-and-coat-of-arms/ Theadept (talk) 20:11, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
Flag problem
[edit]Madden, Vzb83, Denelson83, Chanheigeorge, Zscout370, Nightstallion, Lokal_Profil and Myriam Thyes, Hello there, i just let you a little message bout the flag.. Well there is two little black dots on the red part of the flag that doesnt exist anywhere on the flag. Is that a mistake? Thank you :) Ajilefostad (talk) 11:30, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, the optimization process that was done after FDRMRZUSA's version was not exactly lossless. I guess you should probably revert to FDRMRZUSA's version. 24.12.3.153 21:13, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

Size of the central panel.
[edit]User:Theadept raises an issue in https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Overwriting_existing_files/Requests#Allow_overwriting_of_File:Flag_of_Haiti.svg that a source https://www.haiti.org/flag-and-coat-of-arms/ shows the central panel a different size from what we have. Should the panel be changed? Abzeronow (talk) 17:47, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thankyou. It's quite clear that official government flags have a much larger central panel than shown here. Unfortunately this version seems to have spread to a lot of websites using wikipedia as a source. Theadept (talk) 20:14, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
I've amended the size of the central panel to match the above source. If anyone wants to get it more accurate, they'll probably need to ask an embassy for official dimensions! Theadept (talk) 01:08, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
