Colour

[edit]

Just as a note, it appears that government sites disagree on the colours of the flag, with https://www.jis.gov.jm/ja50/v2/jamaican-national-flag/ and https://jis.gov.jm/information/symbols/jamaica-national-flag/ stating slightly different Pantone colours and mixtures. Which would be considered the most up to date one? Currently this file and File:Naval Ensign of Jamaica.svg use different shades of gold and green. Unless the government publishes a formal decree or law regarding the colours, neither web site can be proved right or wrong. If and when a flag is specified with Pantone colours, the usual practice is to specify colour codes ending in letter C. The C means the ink needs to be printed on coated paper in order to match the colour of the Pantone swatch. In general, printing on coated paper uses less ink and provides a more vibrant appearance because less ink gets absorbed into the paper. MapGrid (talk) 04:35, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just emailed the JIS and confirmed that the second link is the official one. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 01:25, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

SVG code

[edit]

Is it okay if I replace this code: <circle fill="#007749" r="13"/> with this: <path fill="#007749" d="M0 0h12v6H0V0z"/>? Let me know. Thanks. FireDragonValo (talk) 19:34, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@FireDragonValo: I think your wording is backwards. That is, I think are trying to ask if you can replace a rectangle with a circle. Other people have done that with other flags in the past and such changes usually get reverted. Attempting to get the smallest file possible is an ugly game that benefits absolutely nobody. If there is no circle in the flag than there should not be a circle in the code. The code should be simple and it should be legible. Also, good practice is to not let anything extend past the viewbox unless it is clipped with a clippath (as is done for the yellow saltire). Items outside the viewbox don't usually get rendered, but strange things happen when one SVG file gets embedded inside another. MapGrid (talk) 22:38, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. Thank you. FireDragonValo (talk) 01:29, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
