I appreciate your effort to improve the original image. But I'm afraid that your version doesn't resemble the clock as it stands in the museum. The image is just too bright. You have to keep in mind that the interior of the Mevlana museum is rather dark. My photo was made with flashlight and renders the exact colors. I admit the sign on the wall could have been filtered out by me. But you're always free to give it another try. JoJan 15:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I sacrificed faithfully rendering the lighting in your beautiful original photo for a purpose. I was trying to bring out the clock's details so I could use the picture in the article Wikipedia:Longcase clock. In the original, you can barely see the clock's face. I agree, it does look garish. You can upload your animated SVG on commons, even if Wikipedia can't display them, that can allow (wiki)graphists to learn more about Animated SVG (which display fine when look directly on the true url , ex. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Animate_sbs.svg_tutorial.svg ), and encourage to allow SVG animation directly on wikipedia. 19:01, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

There is small one question regarding this typewriter: you can see three buttons here, but on Image:Maszyna.do.pisania.XIXw.jpg there are only two...

I see, you're right. Your machine must be a Mignon 3, not Mignon 4. From The Virtual Typewriter Museum, 'The only difference between the Mignon 3 and 4 was the addition of a backspace key to the right of the mechanism.' Home recording v/s dictation machine

The machine shown at Image:PhonoCylinderHomeRecord.jpg is a home phonograph with recording head attachment, not uncommon at the era, and not the same as the dictation machines of the era, which had additional machinery, for example enabling stenographers to pause or replay sections of a recording. Hi Chetvorno, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one.
  • Please do not tag redirects as {{Speedy}}. Other projects, like InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
  • For guideline when to rename a file, please see Commons:File renaming and Commons:File naming.

Your pictures about negative differential resistance

I have placed your two pictures about negative differential resistance at the top of Circuit idea story about negative differential resistance as they look very well; I like them. I think its a little misleading to say the current controlled graph looks like a neon lamp characteristic. The neon lamp has a much flatter curve below the breakdown voltage V2 and a much sharper falloff of voltage above it. I added the statement that the voltage controlled graph looks like a tunnel diode curve because it happened to come out very close to an actual tunnel diode curve, not just to give an example. --Chetvorno (talk) 06:10, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your page move of File:Electrical Experimenter Aug 1916 pg228.png was not the best way to create a cropped image for the De Forest advertisement. You should have just created a new page named Audion vacuum tube advertisement.png. The Clapp-Eastman advertisement is lost. Yes, this was a very bad move. The cropped version should have been uploaded as a seperate file, and the original page left alone, with the original correct name. Please study the guidelines for renaming files {and associated talk page} and understand the value of not moving/renaming files unless really necessary. Also large modifications to existing files should almost aways be uploaded as seperate files. In this case the original file is a record of the complete printed page and is part of a set of images of the publication and should not have been over written with something different. --Tony Wills (talk) 07:52, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! The date listed on the image (1907) seems a bit off, because the first commercial broadcast station (KDKA) went live in 1930. Unless there is time-travel involved, I'm not sure how they did it. :) — Safety Cap (talk) 01:49, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for catching that; I should have noticed that little anachronism. You really uncovered a mystery, though. The source I got the picture from, an encyclopedia on Google Books, lists a publication date of 1907, and it's title page is stamped "Harvard Library 1908". Yet the text has references to dates up to 1931!!!! It was obviously written after that date. You must have been right about the time travel.

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Hello Chetvorno. I think the picture FET Armstrong oscillator.svg has a little error. The dot next to L2 should be next to the bottom of L2, not next to the top. This dot shows how the windings are wired. With a source circuit, output signal is phase-reversed to input signal. The wiring top of L1 is next to bottom of L2 phase-reverses the signal, too. Two phase-reversals are the same as no phase-reversal and the oscillator oscillates. Please fix the picture AndreAdrian (talk) 09:05, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the image called Mixer input (and thus output as well) is incorrect.

According to the filter function in RF filter, S1 should be left at the original strength, while the larger signal to its left should be reduced by some 60 to 70% of its original stength. Likewise, the other signals in the RF range around S1 should also be much smaller by the time they get to the mixer.

Darn, I was hoping no one would notice that. After I drew the RF filter characteristic and the rest of the drawing, I realized that as you say the outlier signals at the ends would have to be shrunk 60%. This is just due to the unrealistically wide frequency separation of the signals I showed on the graph; in a real superhet I think the RF filter is far too broad to play any significant role in bandpass filtering, it is just there to filter out the image frequency. I didn't want to give readers this erroneous impression, so I attenuated those end signals some, maybe 30%, but not as much as they should have been. Ok, I'll fix it.
