DescriptionPhulban - a Persian love story (in Dakkhini Urdu).jpg
English: Phulban is a unique illuminated manuscript of love and adventure.
Translated into Dakhini Urdu, this Persian romance was composed by court poet Ibn Nishati in the independent Sultanate of Golconda, India, in the 17th century.
Golconda had by this time become established as a flourishing centre of literature and art, the Qutb Shahi rulers, many of whom were themselves poets, having extended their patronage to artists, writers and scholars not only from within India, but also to the entire Muslim world. In his prologue to Phulban, Ibn Nishati eulogises his patron Abd Allah Qutb Shah of Golconda, who is depicted in the manuscript seated sumptuously on his throne.
