| Description |
English: A jewelled pin-pallet escapement in an inexpensive watch from the 1950s. The pin-pallet escapement was a cheaper-to-manufacture version of the lever escapement. It was used in lower quality mass market watches from the early 1900s. Only a few manufacturers made pin-pallet watches with jewel bearings like this (red pieces of ruby visible in the image); it was probably made by either Timex or Oris. Pin pallet watches became obsolete when the inexpensive end of the watch market went to quartz movements in the 1980s. |
