nominated for neutrality check

[edit]

Added template for neutrality check -- article reads like a promotional piece MinervaK (talk) 04:01, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some random ISP removed template 02 Nov 2011. I've undone the removal, please let me know if the page has, in fact, been checked for POV and passed. Thanks -- MinervaK (talk) 18:21, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This page is currently reading like promotional copy. Guidedbyalan (talk) 11:21, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed about neutrality, particularly the statement about being the "savior of the blues". Firstly we have to realize there is a lot of hype about this young man and his Bright Lights EP right noFw. He will have to accomplish a lot more to earn that kind of statement. Second, the first citation to that statement is a paragraph only and it's logic is questionable IMHO. The second citation only claims he is the future of 'texas blues'. I want to tone down the statement, maybe state he has been referred to as the future of texas blues. does anyone object? BTW I state the above as a fan, but let's not rush to crowning him the next SRV or Hendrix quite yet. Zatoichi26 (talk) 00:37, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Some time has passed since I wrote the above, and I see the statement in question was edited, however it still bothers me and I've changed it from "savior of blues" to "future of Texas blues". The reasons are 1) one of the citations which I have now removed, http://www.studio360.org/2011/mar/25/gary-clark-jr-saves-blues/, only mentioned "saving the blues" in the title, not in the body of the article; 2) anyone who is a blues fan today would be surprised to know that blues needs saving, and knows that blues has many thriving contemporary artists; 3) the citation which remains says he is the "future of Texas blues" and nothing about him being the savior of blues. 4) I removed the aforementioned citation because it's really a silly article, see my point #2, and also the article presupposes that a lack of black artists has resulted in the blues needing "saving" even though there are many contemporary black blues artists today, and the article itself admits that Stevie Ray Vaughn and his brother, who were/are white, "defined modern blues". The article contradicts itself and is not, in my opinion, of a quality that should be referenced on Wikipedia. Hope that makes sense to everyone. Thanks. How does Gary Clark, Jr. have 6 members, only one of whom is actually Gary Clark, Jr.? :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.1.1.1 (talk) 22:43, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
