about chen yidan

I don't know why it would be deleted, "Chen Yidan" and "Chen yidan" are both chinese pronunciation, I don't think that's a false name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CCI2017 (talkcontribs) 12:03, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Yarovyi, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Yarovoy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. I apologize for my mistake because,as you noted, I was following the tutorial provided in the Wikipedia training. Also, if you contacted my professor in regards to the mainspace accident, he was not aware of it. Thank you for the quick remedy. Tc16e (talk) 03:19, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. I am waiting for some of my work to be replaced. I have a busy schedule. I can volunteer a small amount of time, only.

I was writing an article about Furies (Classical Greek). I've been away and the file has not been touched for a few weeks. It has now been deleted. It was on an Article page, then it was moved to a User page. This morning I was looking through Files and reviewing the content from old pages.

Lenin- slowly but surely

Hello friend: This is just to say that your help with sorting out the current Lenin page would be appreciated. That sort of page tends to attract friends or sympathisers of Lenin, and (justified) criticism will often be bogged down or met with a reception of requests for RS, even, frustratingly, when the article is so clearly not in accordance with the facts that references should not be necessary. At that point it is too easy to blow your top and go off. Please don't- stick with it and use whatever time and knowledge you can put it in to it to correct some errors or add to the article. That's what I'm trying to do, but it is necessary to go with the system of finding WP:RS, drafting alternative sentences, previewing on the talk page, etc when met with challenges. A further suggestion: try to find some of the most obviously incorrect bits and work on those, one or two at a time: a scattergun approach makes it easier for opponents to focus on any slip-ups you make and ignore the best bits of what you are saying. You recently used your Rollback tool to revert an editor's removal of your comments on their own talk page. Two things: per WP:REMOVE, editors can freely delete comments from their own user talk page. Secondly, you abused your Rollback privileges to perform the inappropriate revert. Users who misuse Rollback are subject to having their Rollback permission revoked. Please brush up on WP:ROLLBACK—it isn't complicated. Soviet Union

Dear Xx236, thank you for drawing attention to those errors. I had not done work on a while, though I would like to get back to it, as there are some other books I would like to use. I tried to be neutral and to keep my own views out of article, but there are always different interpretations of history, some of which are more correct than others. On the Eastern Front, one has the Communist line about which the inspired leadership of Comrade Stalin the Soviet Union won the war. At present, the page is too much about Stalin and not enough about his people; Stalin does that and Stalin does that; one really does not get much sense about the lives of millions of people under his rule, which is really bad. Even if one accepts that Stalin had enormous power, you can't tell the history of millions of people through the prism of one man's life, and presents the war as all about the alleged "goodness" of Communism. There are a number of problems with this account like many of Stalin's decisions were unwise and inept, and during the war, the regime downplayed Communism and played up Russian nationalism to motivate the troops. There is a remarkable propaganda film from 1943 showing actors dressed as figures from Russian history like Peter the Great, Mikhail Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky appearing as ghosts to cheer on the modern Red Army. Such a film would had been unthinkable before June 1941. And there is one might for the lack of a better word call the German interpretation of the Eastern Front, which presents the Eastern Front as virtually a war that Germany won, where the Wehrmacht is the perfect military machine that totally outclassed the Red Army and won the most amazing victories and even when defeated still held out under the most overwhelming of odds. My later father, who really loved the Wehrmacht, was an avid fan of this interpretation. According to this interpretation, the Wehrmacht was simply overwhelmed by superior numbers, and even that would have still won had not been for the "insane" leadership of Hitler and some bad luck, like the supposedly freakish cold of 1941-42. The winter of 1941-42 was not "freakish" cold; it is a matter of fact that it gets it extremely cold in Russia in winter; the problem was German logistics had broken down as Moscow was too far away to properly supply an army, which is why the men of Army Group Central were suffering from shortages of winter uniforms. The Japanese have a term "victory disease", which describes how military leaders after a string of victories catch "victory disease", being consumed by hubris and holding the enemy in total contempt. The term is Japanese, but it describes the Germany Army in 1941. Both General Halder, the chief of general staff and Field Marshal von Bock of Army Group Central both knew that the logistics to support a drive to take Moscow were not there, and decided to go for Moscow nonetheless, as they held the Red Army in contempt that they didn't care about logistics anymore. The line about the "freakish cold" winter is just spin to cover up their incompetence in pressing for an operation that should not had been launched. A particularly objectionable aspect of this interpretation is the emphasis upon the Russians as "Asians" and attributing the mass rapes committed by the Red Army in Germany in 1944-45 as due to the "Asianness" of the Russians-because raping every women in sight is just what Asian people do. I do not deny that the Red Army committed these rapes and nor I approve in the slightest, but is this theory is frankly racist, and even worse, it is taken straight from Nazi propaganda. In Nazi propaganda the Red Army was always the "Asiatic horde" and in attacking the Soviet Union Germany was supposedly waging a noble battle to protect Europe from the "Asiatic hordes" who would destroy everything. Rather than seek a "racial" explanation for the mass gang-rapes, I favor more rational explanation. The first is that rape is an act of power, not sex. Raping German women was a crude and exceptionally vicious way of excising power. And of course, two wrongs don't make a right, but the fact that the Germans had behaved very brutally in the Soviet Union goes a long way towards explaining why many Russians wanted revenge. This does not excuse the revenge that the Soviets took in anyway-raping a 12 year old girl as revenge for the fact that your sister was raped is totally unacceptable-but does help explain this behavior. In the first century AD, resistance to the Roman conquest of Britain was led by a chief named Caratacus who fought the Romans as a guerrilla leader before being captured and taken to Rome before the Emperor Claudius. Caratacus is said to have rather plaintively asked Claudius "Why do you who have so much covet our mud huts?". Many Red Army soldiers upon reaching the Reich in 1945 were very upset to see that even in defeat that the Germans still had a much higher standard of living than what they did, and writer Vasily Grossman records in his diary numerous soldiers marking remarks along the lines "What did they want from us? They have so much so, so did they attack us who have so little?". Raping German women and girls was a very crude, barbaric and completely unacceptable way of trying to address this in-balance. This has nothing do with being Asian, and the only reason why so German writers bring up the subject of the gang-rapes which is explained on racial grounds is imply that Hitler was actually justified in attacking the Soviet Union. Maybe so much in modern Germany, but this interpretation of the Eastern Front as a heroic struggle to save Europe from the "Asiatic hordes" was popular in Germany right up to the 1980s-1990s. I have no desire to glorify the Soviet regime, which was brutal and amoral, but I object to demonizing an entire people, and I would like to put a human face on the war on the Eastern Front. I know what Russia is, and I have no illusions, but I was trying to make a start by looking at the lives of the frontoviks, trying to show them as they were. Thank your for correcting any mistakes on my part and for drawing that to my attention. Cheers!--A.S. Brown (talk) 23:58, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello Xx236,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 805 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

Perhaps not editing in this subject area is a good thing. I do not edit these subjects any longer - too much negative emotions from interactions with other users. Besides, the books by historians can not explain what it really was. This is something only art can do. For example, one can watch movies like Cargo 200 (film) and "Kochegar" by Balabanov or even something like movies by Sergei Loznitsa... My very best wishes (talk) 14:35, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
I would advise you not edit pages Lenin and Stalin, including talk pages, as I already said here. You were too close to be topic banned, and at least some your comments on these talk page are questionable. You may be topic banned next time if you continue doing the same. Xx236, this note is to inform you that after this ANI discussion, [1], you are indefinitely topic-banned from the topic of the Soviet Union, broadly construed. This includes both editing articles within this topic, as well as discussions about this topic anywhere else on Wikipedia. Any infringement of this ban may result in your account being blocked without warning for a duration of the administrator's discretion. This sanction is imposed in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator. You may appeal this sanction at the administrator's noticeboard. You may also appeal to me directly on my talk page. The ban remains in force during an appeal until you have been notified of an official change. Vanamonde (talk) 05:49, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

Help me!

Please help me with my English errors. Please choose my edit from my history and explain me.

Xx236 (talk) 12:22, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Xx236. This request is very global. Are you just looking for an example? In your request above, "Please choose my edit from my history and explain me", this would read better in English if you wrote: "please choose an edit from my editing history and explain the errors in it to me". The "me" instead of "an" is not wrong per se, but it reads poorly. The missing "it to" in the last part of the sentence, though, makes the sentence present as broken English. You simply cannot say "explain me", you have to say "explain it to me". Again, choose something specific and then I suggest using a diff view to present it for evaluation. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:53, 9 June 2017 (UTC)
I'd say your commentary on talk pages usually is extremely short, so short that context is missing. Take for example these three edits. The first is OK, the second is in quote marks as if it were a quote (which for all I can tell it isn't), and it's a fragment, without a subject. If the third has any connection to the first two, as might be surmised from its being posted in the same section right after the other two, I don't see it. In combination, it's unclear what the purpose of that section is. Do you merely not understand the wording? Do you think it should be removed because it's not supported by the body of the article? Were you planning to add something to the body of the article that would resolve the problem and wondered whether your source was good enough? I can't tell. That makes it very difficult to answer you appropriately. Huon (talk) 23:35, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

Sprobuj cos troche innego w ramach relaksu. Thanks a lot for your message and your help on Freddy Guevara´s article. I´m new here and still figuring out how to work here. I need help with one of the articles I´ve been working (Erika Guevara Rosas) as it has been flagged for promotional content and inappropriate external links. In my case I´ve used mostly sources like New York Times, CNN, Amnesty International and well known newspapers or sources. There is also a flag for contributor to this article for having a close connection with its subject. I´m one of the contributors that lately is been putting a lot of work on it and don´t have any relation with subject. Could you help cleaning up and checking sources? Thanks a lot. New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Xx236, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.

Pappenheim-Treuchtlingen

It's actually both - essentially the family is the state. The state exists whilst the family exists, and when the family dies off so the state ends with it. Every hereditary state in the Holy Roman Empire was like that. I don't really know how to describe it, and by the standard of HRE pages no else has a great idea how to either. --Nomadic1 (talk) 05:03, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

New Years new page backlog drive

Hello Xx236, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hussein, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Zakir Hussain (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:09, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

I see you've flagged the above for deletion, which I absolutely agree with. I'm puzzled as to how it made it through AfC. Of the three references, one's back to Wikipedia, one is his own YouTube page, and the last does nothing more than give his name as a cast member. No RS giving any Notability at all, as far as I can see. KJP1 (talk) 08:31, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello Xx236, I created List of villages in Harju County based on Category:Villages in Harju County, every village is sourced separately, this is a list of the villages. I was going to make List of villages in Estonia, but I made that a list of lists because there are so many villages in Category:Villages in Estonia. Thanks. I have made the necessary changes. I hope this is all that is required. Thank you for the mention. DiplomatTesterMan (talk) 11:50, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Xx236, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!
The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

I have removed the PROD from Kaprice Kisa. Prod has a very low threshold for deletion, that said it also has a very low threshold for not deleting. IF someone removes a PROD from an article it can never be added back. Anyone including the original editor can remove the PROD for any or no reason. In the case of Kaprice Kisa you nominated it for deletion at 10:26, 19 March 2018‎, one hour and one minute later the article creator removed the PROD. That ends the use of PROD on the article. You readded it a couple of hours later and then it was removed again and you readded it a second time. Please do not ever readd a PROD that someone else removes. If you feel it should be deleted you will need to use WP:AFD. ~ GB fan 20:25, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

New Page Review Newsletter No.10

Hello Xx236, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.

Paid editing

  • Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled

  • While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.

News

  • The next issue Wikipedia's newspaper The Signpost has now been published after a long delay. There are some articles in it, including ACTRIAL wrap-up that will be of special interest to New Page Reviewers. Don't hesitate to contribute to the comments sections. The Signpost is one of the best ways to stay up date with news and new developments - please consider subscribing to it. All editors of Wikipedia and associated projects are welcome to submit articles on any topic for consideration by the The Signpost's editorial team for the next issue.

Speedy deletion nomination of Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition

You left a message on my talk page stating that I had requested deletion of Hamamatsu International Piano Academy Competition. What is this about? I'm not aware of requesting any such thing. What is being deleted? Is it the article, or a redirect? — Hebrides (talk) 21:19, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Phil curtis

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Phil curtis. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Phil Curtis. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Phil Curtis. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. —usernamekiran(talk) 13:26, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

TP messages that start mid-idea

Hey there,

A lot of your talk page messages seem to start in the middle of an idea, and don't give any context for others to follow. To take just the last few:

  • [5] - What exactly is this book about? Who wrote it? What is it that you find interesting there? How exactly does it pertain to the article? Who do you think should read it?
  • [6] - Which communists? When? Where? Which activities? In what section should this be mentioned, and how?
  • [7] - Okay, and? (or, as another commenter asked, "Yes?").

If you start a new section, give some background: What are you talking about? Why? Where did you see it? What do you think we should change? etc. etc., otherwise it just looks out of place. François Robere (talk) 07:53, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
