The Security Research Event (SRE) 2025 was held in Warsaw on June 24 and 25 under the theme Boosting security through EU-based innovation.

This year’s Projects to Policy Seminar introduced the newly launched security research projects under Horizon Europe Cluster 3 to some of the most relevant European policy makers in Brussels.

The DIREKTION network has released a joint policy brief together with the CMINE Responder Technologies Cluster under the title “Strengthening Responder Technology in Disasters”. The brief includes concrete recommendations to support the operational uptake of innovation.

All stakeholders must work together to build disaster resilience mechanisms in an increasingly dangerous world, participants urged at the 19-21 May 2025 “Disaster Resilience Days” conference organised by the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS).

On 12 June, the Horizon Europe fund is launching a new call for projects. With a budget close to EUR 250 million, it will cover EU external border management, protection of infrastructure, cybersecurity, disaster resilience, the protection of EU citizens, and strengthened security research.

The participants took stock of the lessons learned from major public events hosted recently in the EU, like the Olympic Games in Paris, and discussed how EU-funded Innovation and Security Research can best contribute to the safety of European citizens enjoying these events.
