IND vs WI 2nd Test Highlights: Shai Hope and Tevin Imlach saw the West Indies through to the end a day that has to be their best batting day of this series so far, despite them losing some quick wickets quite softly towards the end of it. Athanaze threw it away after fighting hard, falling to Kuldeep Yadav while trying to hit him out at 41 off 94 balls. Roston Chase then lobbed a catch back to Ravindra Jadeja to fall for a seven-ball duck but Hope and Imlach did well to keep the scoreboard ticking and ensure West Indies lost no more wickets on Day 2. West Indies trail India by 378 runs at the end of day’s play on Saturday.

Athanaze then started targetting Kuldeep Yadav and Chanderpaul also upped the scoring rate and put up a partnership of 66 in 122 balls. Chanderpaul eventually fell to Jadeja after which Hope has hit the ground running.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Yashasvi Jaiswal speaks to the broadcaster

"I always try to play as long as I can. If I'm there, I should just take the game forward and play as long as I can. It's (his run-out) part of the game, so it's fine. There is always a thought that what I can achieve and what can be my goal and my team's goal, I just try and be in the game and make sure if I'm in, I should take it long. I was trying to get in, so there was a bit of movement, but when I was in the middle, I was thinking that maybe I'll bat for one hour and then it will be easy for me to score. The wicket is still pretty good, we are bowling very well, we will be seeing as quickly as we can get to them and get them again."

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: West Indies 140/3 at Stumps, trail India by 378 runs

Shai Hope and Tevin Imlach do much more than just see off that last over from Sundar. Hope runs a single off the fourth ball and then Imlach responds to India's tactic of having fielders close in to him by sweeping the fifth ball behind square for four. A positive end to the day for the West Indies. Despite the late loss of wickets, this remains arguably their best batting day of the series.

The pair have now been in the middle for 51 balls now and the partnership is worth 28 runs. Washington Sundar is going to bowl the last over of the day in place of Kuldeep. How West Indies would love to not lose any more wickets today.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: The batters almost collide running a single!

Imlach flicks the fifth ball of that over from Kuldeep to midwicket's left and sets off. Both him and Hope watching the ball and not each other and almost collide! They both veer well off their paths and in the end, reachin their marks safely. Hope on 30 off 42, Imlach on six off 23.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: OUT! Now Chase lobs it back to the bowler

Chase gives Jadeja of all people catching practice. He doesn't need catching practice, as the world has come to know over the course of his long, illustrious career. Lara and Richards, both former West Indies captains, look on from the stands helplessly as the current one walks off for a duck. Full length ball on leg stump, Chase looks to play it leg side with the bat face fully open. It just floats back to Jadeja.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: OUT! Athanaze throws it away

Murali Kartik says in the commentary box that Ian Bishop has his head in his hands beside him and that is the only reasonable reaction to seeing this dismissal. All that hard work and Athanaze goes down this way. Kuldeep Yadav brought back for the 33rd over, he throws up a nice, juicy half-volley on middle stump with midwicket inside and Athanaze falls for it hook, line and stinker. He went for a big slog-sweep and that is hit right into Jadeja at midwicket. Athanaze walks back having fought to within nine runs of a half-century.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Hope hits the ground running, Athanaze into his 40s

Bumrah returned for the 29th over, Athanaze took two off the first ball and then a single off the third. Bumrah's fourth delivery is a length ball around fifth stump, Hope stays upright and drives it absolutely gorgeously through covers for four. That is the reason why it is such a big surprise that Hope hasn't had a real Test career. A truly wonderful shot against the best in the world. A single last ball of the over to take West Indies to 100 and then Hope runs two off the first ball by Jadeja next over. That is all the runs that come there, Hope is on 11 off 13, Athanaze on 41 off 77.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: OUT! Chanderpaul caught at slips and the partnership ends

Jadeja strikes! Rahul juggled once but caught it. This was a wide length ball, Chanderpaul opened the face of his bat away from his body. It takes the outside edge and darts to Rahul's left. He fumbled once but then the ball falls kindly into his hands after that. Rahul stayed nice and slow which is why he managed to get to it in the first place.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: LBW overturned! More luck for Chanderpaul!

Viv Richards can be seen sitting with Brian Lara in the stands and he applauds as the big screen shows the ball missing the stumps on ball-tracking! Chanderpaul had almost given himself out there, he took a long time to take the review and then started walking away when the ball was shown to be missing his bat and gloves. Jadeja had tossed up the third ball of the 26th over, sent it in full. Chanderpaul looks to sweep, misses it and India appealed confidently. Illingworth raised his finger but then ball tracking showed that it would've missed leg stump by a whisker.

No more runs in that over, Chanderpaul on 28 off 63, Athanaze on 31 off 69.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: 50-run partnership as boundaries continue to come

Athanaze runs two off the first ball of Sundar's over in the 25th and then the batter brings out another reverse sweep for four. That takes the stand between him and Chanderpaul to 50 in 103 balls.

Oct 11, 2025 03:20 PM IST
India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: A bit of luck for Chanderpaul as West Indies up the scoring rate

Well Athanaze managed two fours in that over from Kuldeep, then Chanderpaul does the same next over off Jadeja. The second of those came off the last ball, Jadeja had landed it on a footmark outside off, Chanderpaul looked to dab at it, but it took the bottom edge and missed the stumps by a whisker before running past Jurel for four.

Well, one could argue that Chanderpaul's opening partner was ridiculously unlucky to be caught at short leg the way he was and so West Indies deserve some luck now. Chanderpaul moves to 26 off 57, Athanaze on 25 off 63.

Washington Sundar to replace Kuldeep Yadav now.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: 50 up for the West Indies

Athanaze sweeps the first ball of the 23rd over to the deep backward square leg boundary for four and that takes the West Indies to 53/1 in 22.1 overs. That was also West Indies first runs in 28 balls but they won't mind any of that one bit. This is arguably the most solid anyone from the side have looked all series long against Kuldeep, which makes one curse the fact that this is the last Test of this series already.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Jadeja returns

Washington Sundar bowled four overs and now Gill brings back Jadeja. Sudharsan had said that he expects this track to turn more on Day 2 but it isn't quite doing that at this point. Athanaze and Chanderpaul looking absolutely solid at the moment, pretty comfortable out there, although West Indies' run rate is only 2.57.

Athanaze on 17 off 51 balls, Chanderpaul on 18 off 39.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: A four and a six! Athanaze is targetting Kuldeep!

West Indies showing some fight with the bat, something we haven't seen too often in this series. Kuldeep's second ball was short of a length on off stump, Athanaze rocks back and cuts it through backward point for four. The third ball is defdended off the inside edge and then the fourth was full on middle and off, dipping on Athanaze. The batter clears his front leg and smashes it over long on for a six. Athanaze then clips the fifth ball past the wicketkeeper, went off his pads and so that's two leg byes.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Welcome back!

Well, it is going to be a moving session. It might decide how quickly this game might get over in the end, it's a pun though. But the way the West Indies will bat in this session will indicate the mindset they have. As per the Indian bowlers they have enough runs all they have to do is pitch the ball in the right areas and hope wickets come by.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Jaiswal Jaiswal to Kohli Kohli

During the expected lulls in India’s one-sided offensive on the first day of the second Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday, the restless New Delhi crowds – sparse in number but boisterous in character – broke into chants for this city’s favourite, and now retired, sporting hero. But at certain points of the day’s play, chants of ‘Kohli, Kohli’ made way for those of ‘Jaiswal, Jaiswal.’

Such was the controlled supremacy of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 253-ball 173 that he made this crowd very briefly shut out the comfort of nostalgia in exchange for the promise of the present. This was an innings that was an affirmation of Jaiswal’s status in Indian cricket, if there was any room left for that in the first place. Precocious talent he may be, but no other Indian batters are piling on runs with such consistency across different conditions. In 26 Tests so far, this was Jaiswal’s seventh Test ton piling onto his 12 fifties. Five of those seven are 150+ scores. Since making his debut in the West Indies tour in 2023, he is India’s highest scorer, and Friday’s innings pipped his average above 50 while he maintains a healthy strike rate in the mid-60s. India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: WI 26/1 at Tea vs IND in New Delhi

Kuldeep Yadav has bowled the final over before the Tea. West Indies has batted decently; they have applied themselves. The wicket of Campbell is more or less an unlucky one. He could have got it away for a boundary, even a dot ball, but a brilliant reflex from Sai Sudharsan did the trick. All in all, another session that belonged to India. They have declared the innings halfway through the session and now have picked up the first wicket too. Will the West Indies show any resistance post-break, or will they crumble like they did in the other Tests? We have to wait and see.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Jadeja picks Campbell

Ravindra Jadeja has picked up the first wicket here. Campbell tried to slog-sweep the delivery and ended up hitting the close-in fielder Sudharsan, who somehow managed to take the catch. Although he needed a bit of medical attention after that to his finger, it was a pretty nice reflex catch from him. While they have managed to see off the new ball bowlers, it is the Indian vice-captain who got the first wicket. Mohammad Siraj is back into the attack, and he has swapped ends. It is one of the features of Gill's captaincy where he keeps rotating the ends of his premium bowlers through their spells.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Intresting approach

Also, it will be interesting to see how India will approach this innings. With the Australia tour coming up next Sunday, and most of these players who will be travelling to that tour would want this game to finish early so that they can get a couple of days off. However, if the West Indies manages to put on a score of around 240-250 playing about 80-85 overs, will India opt to impose follow-on or will they bat again to rest the bowlers will be interesting to see. Ideally, teams opt to bat again, but this Indian bowling has six bowlers at their disposal.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: WI starts well

Well, West Indies batters have started well here, both of them. Well, in the sense, there has been nothing lost; they have played each ball on its merit and tried to defend with a straight bat. Which is a good thing, but they need to make sure they do not get themselves into a shell and try and play their shots when the opportunities get presented. With the variety of bowlers India has at their disposal, it is important that West Indies batters inalong side with scoring and defending well also score some quick runs.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Bumrah siraj take new ball

Both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have taken the new ball for India. Both have started well, which is more or less expected with the form they are. There might not be a lot of swing and seam to work with for both the bowlers, but they will have that odd ball skidding on because of the grass patches and cracks. There might also be an odd one that keeps low from time to time. So line at least should be hitting the stumps regularly. As per length, they will be looking to operate in that hard length region.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Welcome back!

Shubman Gill is not on the field, hence Ravindra Jadeja is the captain for now. Jasprit Bumrah has taken the new ball, and it is likely to be Mohammed Siraj from the other end. From the West Indies, even a defeat will be fine, but they need to show some fight. Score some runs, drag this game as long as they can.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Pitch report by Darren Ganga

“It looks like a 3rd/4th day pitch. Because of the wear and tear, it’s a very dry surface, but I still think it will be good for batting. The spinners have a chance of using their conditions to their advantage, and that is something that I’d like to see the West Indian spinners do. Try to use the rough areas as their guide to pitch the ball into those areas, to bring those variabilities of bounce. The other end has more grass. Naturally, you would think that captains will operate their pace bowlers because the grass layer is more intense. The surface has a couple of bare spots and bowlers could probably get variability in terms of pace, and maybe bounce too. So, there’s enough in that pitch to keep bowlers interested.”

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: IND 518/5 d vs WI in New Delhi

Well, Roston Chase has picked up the wicket of Dhruv Jurel, and India has declared here. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129, but the best batter for India in this innings has been Yashasvi Jaiswal. If not for that runout, he could have made a lot more, but not to be, he would have felt an opportunity wasted. As per the bowling, it looked flat, and Jomel Warrican, although he has picked up three wickets, those have been the result of errors from the Indian batters themselves rather than anything. We will be right break after the short break, do stay with us.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Chat in the middle

Substitute fielders have come into the middle and have had a chat with Gill, wondering if we might have a declaration around the corner, or it is a message to keep batting this session, and we can assess the situation at Tea. Runs-wise, India has got enough considering the form of West Indies batting, but they still want to play on the safer side. Also the rain forecast for the remaining Test too might come into the picture. There was a game in the last cycle when West Indies could have been defeated by India back in the Caribbean, but they got away because of the rain. India would not want to take any chances on this occasion.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: 10th Test match ton

Shubman Gill has got his shot away through the off-side and completed his 10th Test match 100. It is his fifth as captain in seven innings. This has been his year without a doubt. He has made a happy habit of scoring big runs, and he is getting into those prime years of his career where he can have more and more. As of now, as he has to his landmark, he will be thinking of a declaration. We might see some serious fireworks from here on, and as we update, he slammed a six, it might be the beginning of it.

Oct 11, 2025 12:43 PM IST
India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Another 50-run partnership

One thing West Indies batting can clearly take inspiration from Indian batting is how they have batted in partnerships. Another partnership in this innings, which has gone past 50, between Jurel and Gill. The effortlessness of run-making has been quite sublime by these two and the partnerships gone by before. In these conditions or any conditions in Test cricket, it does seem very tough in the first 20-25 balls, but the rotation of strike getting to the other end sharing the burden is how partnerships are built, and once they get going, it will get easier and easier to bat like how it has happened to India.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Pros and cons

Well as per the positives from this tour so far, it has to be Seales. He might not have picked up a lot of wickets in this series he did look a cut above the rest of the bowling conditions, even in these spin-conducive conditions. The lines and lengths have been immaculate, spell in and spel out, he has been there and thereabout. As for the negatives, well, this update or the next update might not be enough to list them. But the one that needs immediate addressing is batting. Even when teams are going through bad phases, there is always that one or two decent batters, but this West Indian line-up so far, with the evidence they have shown, there is none. ,

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Spin from either end

Spin from either end for the West Indies. We might see more and more of slower bowlers bowling more and more overs in this session. It would not be a surprise if these bowlers start bowling negative lines like bowling down the leg-side of sorts. They have used six bowlers, wondering who else can bowl in this lineup because the pacers must have been exhausted under the heat, with the work they have put in. As per India, it is time to cash in. Gill has done the hard work and now can start playing a lot more freely.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Welcome back!

Shubman Gill continued the good form from yesterday, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who could have scored more runs, got himself run out in an unfortunate manner. While one might say Gill should have responded to the call instead of looking back to see where the ball was, it was hard for him to make it because of how good the ball was hit to mid-off, and then Nitish tried to play a few attacking shots persihed. Jomel Warrican has been the pick of the bowlers for West Indies with three wickets.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Rohit Sharma will be 40 in 2027, same as Imran Khan in 1992; selectors shouldn’t have fast-tracked Shubman Gill

Imran Khan was nearly 40 when he hand-held Pakistan to the 1992 World Cup title. By the time the 2027 50-overs World Cup is upon us, Rohit Sharma will also be 40. But, unlike The Khan, he wouldn’t have a fairytale farewell. The national selectors ended his ODI captaincy the other day by naming 25-year-old Shubman Gill as his replacement. It was an unusual and unexpected decision with no precedent.

Only the eclectic with no worldly desires or ambitions would have remained unaffected by the demotion. As for Rohit, he has been a proud captain, a silent chaser of grand dreams and a winner of two ICC tournaments in a matter of months — a rare achievement for a nation that isn’t Australia and that has a long history of World Cup heartbreaks. India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Yashasvi Jaiswal makes it India’s day at Kotla

In the first four balls after lunch, on Day 1 of the second Test between India and West Indies at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Yashasvi Jaiswal unfurled three ferocious boundaries from the misplaced seam of fast bowler Jayden Seales. Off the fifth, after receiving Jaiswal’s forward defence, a frustrated Seales threw the ball back at full tilt, targetting the stumps but catching the batsman’s front pad instead. The Mumbai batter shrugged off the bit of needless aggression and got back down to business as he went on his way to mount a mammoth unbeaten 173.

The 15-minute exchange perfectly captured the 90 overs of action here on Friday, with the India top order mercilessly making the most of the batting friendly conditions on offer in the national capital to pummel the hapless West Indies bowling attack into submission. (Read more from Namit Kumar)

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: IND 427/4 vs WI at Lunch in New Delhi

Well, that is lunch. Dhruv Jurel has been quite watchful since he walked into the middle. He, too, might be eyeing a big score post lunch, which is very much a possibility with the wicket still being as good as it is. As per Shubman Gill, it is his wicket to throw away. He is on 72 as of now and will be aspiring to get to not just the three-digit mark but a big daddy 100. West Indies, on the other hand, seamers have bowled well, but there is only so much they can do in these conditions. Jomel Warrican has been the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Nice start

West Indies have started the session quite nicely, but as the session went on, their heads started to drop yet again. One cannot blame them much of the damage was done yesterday when they did not hit their straps. They had a brief spell of happiness in the morning, but it did not last long. We might see more bowlers coming into action in the noon session, a bit of run-rate control tactics, more than wicket-tacking attempts.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Closing in on lunch

We are closing in on Lunch here, and it has been another solid session for India in the Test match. Shubman Gill has especially upped the tempo quite nicely here in the middle today morning. He is closing in on a ton here. He is in a rich vein of form, and we have seen he not only can do a three-digit score but also can score a massive ton. The Edgbaston ton, where he scored 269 runs, was an example of that.

No further experiments, Dhruv Jurel has walked into the middle. He is coming off a good form as Jurel scored his maiden Test match 100. India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Spring in the stride

West Indies had a bit of spring in their stride when they came to bowl today morning, and the momentum they got when they picked up Yashasvi Jaiswal was quite high. In fact, immediately after that dismissal, Nitish was hit on the pads, and the umpire deemed it not out, and Roston Chase also did not decide to review it. But on replay, it was shown on ball-tracking that the ball was the umpire's call on wicket-hitting. Those are the fine margins you hope that would go your way. But also, Nitish did give an opportunity, which was split, so they have themselves to blame as well.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Changing gears

The Indian batters are changing gears here. Nitish, especially after being dropped in the over before he continues to pick on the spinner Warrican. The run-rate has been quite healthy today, and since Nitish has walked in, it has spiked a bit further. India has got to 400 here for the loss of three wickets. In the past few years, although India was winning games and series, there have been many instances where the batting lineup has collapsed. Some of it had to do with the rank turners, and some of it had to do with declining form.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Water break

Well, apart from that wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, it has been pretty smooth sailing for India. Although the West Indies did bowl for 40 minutes or so, the Indian resilience has been too strong for them to breach through. Having said that, Warrican should have had his third wicket in the innings, but Philip dropped the opportunity at mid-off. With the number of batters still to come for India and the wicket this wicket is playing, it is a question of how many India are looking to get and how long they are willing to bat today.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: 50 for Gill

Shubman Gill has scored his half-century here. It has been a pretty precise innings from him. Although he will be happy about the landmark, he will be looking to convert this innings into a three-digit mark. As we update, Nitish is dropped at mid-off here. It was a tossed-up delivery from Jomel Warrican, and Nitish looked to hit it over the top and ended up presenting a straight catch to Philip, who dropped a simple one. Have to be a bit careful, Nitish here. He got the opportunity up the order and can score a big one with the time left, but he has had a few heart-in-mouth moments already in the first 20 minutes.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Gill moved into 40s

Gill has moved into his 40s here. He missed out on a ton in Ahmedabad when he got out for 50 in the 2nd innings there. But he will be hoping to convert this start into a big century like Yashasvi Jaiswal. It has been a pretty organised innings from him. He did not get carried away with his innings when he walked in because of where the game was; he played at his own tempo and dictated the terms. It is not to say that he did not go after the bowling at all. Whenever he felt the bowlers were settling into a rhythm or tempo, he pulled out the modern attacking shot to push the bowlers on the back foot.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Good bowling

40 minutes into the morning, the West Indies are still operating with pace here. Wonder when they will be bringing in spin into the attack. The oddball is keeping low today more than yesterday, but apart from that, nothing much. Having said that, it has been exceptional bowling this morning from both Philip and Seales, they have bent their back and given their everything, and hence it has been a decent start. As per India, Nitish did manage to get a few edges early on here, but those edges ran away for the boundaries, which has taken him into double digits in quick time.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Nitish at 5

Well, the runout is passed. Nitish Kumar Reddy has walked in at five, which is an interesting move from India. It is Dhruv Jurel who has walked in at this number in the last, so there is a definite promotion to Nitish to spend some time in the middle. Also, he is a capable enough player to change gears if India is looking to declare at Lunch or post Lunch. However, Shubman Gill who is batting at the other end the tempo at which he is bowling he is batting at a pretty sedate tempo and is constructing his innings slowly.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: brain fade moments

Well, that is one of those brain-fade moments cricketers have. Jaiswal timed it superbly to the mid-off fielder and took off, and Gill right from the moment of the call said no. It took an eternity for him to get out of the field, Jaiswal. The West Indies have started well here. They have bowled with a bit more intensity, and that runout definitely is a lucky bonus for them. Jaiswal has all the time today to contemplate it. There was no way either of the batters was going to not lose a wicket, even if Gill tried to take that single and honour Jaiswal's call.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Jaiswal gets himself runout

It will be interesting to see how the Indian openers approach this morning's session. We saw how cautious Jaiswal was, and then after the first drinks break changed the gears completely. However, he started on 0, then today he is starting at 174, so we might show a bit of caution mixed with aggression right from the word go. There was a drive in that opening over which took the edge, and Shubman Gill, when he got onto the strike, is also shuffling at the crease, which is not something you have seen with Gill through his Test career. As we update, Yashavi Jaiswal has departed here. He got himself run out.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Let's go!

The sun is shining bright in the middle. It looks like a warmer day today compared to yesterday. The cracks on the pitch have widened slightly and will continue to do so throughout the day. As always, there will be some moisture in the wicket, which will play a role in this morning's session, and both Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal might play a bit cautiously in the initial overs.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Pitch report by Darren Ganga

"It looks like a 3rd/4th day pitch. Because of the wear and tear, it's a very dry surface, but I still think it will be good for batting. The spinners have a chance of using their conditions to their advantage, and that is something that I'd like to see the West Indian spinners do. So, there's enough in that pitch to keep bowlers interested."

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Kohli to jaiswal

The sheer brilliance of Yashasvi Jaiswal's unbeaten 173 was so compelling that it momentarily overcame the Delhi crowd's tendency to chant for their retired local hero, Virat Kohli, making way for chants of "Jaiswal, Jaiswal." This innings solidified his status as a premier Indian batsman, showcasing remarkable consistency and a massive appetite for big scores: in just 26 Tests, he has already scored seven centuries and twelve fifties, with five of those centuries converted into 150+ scores. Since his debut, Jaiswal has been India's top run-scorer in Tests, boasting an average now over 50 and a healthy strike rate in the mid-60s.

But Kotak warned of a few limitations, too, which were on display when contrasted with Jaiswal’s free-wheeling innings. “Some of the very full balls, too, he plays on the back foot though, which we are trying to work with him to cut out. And also the outside off-stump line, which he should easily play on the front foot instead (of being planted on the back foot),” he said. India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Sitanshu Kotak on Sai Sudharsan

India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak would praise the technically sound nature of Sudharsan’s 165-ball 87. “I think his back-foot game is (sound),” he told reporters on Friday. “A lot of the balls (against spin) that he played on the back foot today, most other players would negotiate on the front foot. The amount of power he generates on the back foot is also amazing. He bats equally well against pace and spin.”

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Sudharsan comes good

On a dead-flat, batting-friendly pitch where the Indian team felt universally confident about scoring runs, India's commanding position was cemented by a crucial and substantial innings from young number three Sai Sudharsan, whose knock vindicated the management's faith in him. Sudharsan's successful partnership with Jaiswal, totaling 193 runs, had a "deflating effect" on the West Indies bowlers and appeared to put the match beyond their reach early on, confirming India's total dominance on a day that saw captain Shubman Gill also show aggressive intent.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Shubman Gill's first boundary

Off the fifth ball that Shubman Gill faced as he entered the field for the last hour, he planted his front foot firmly in line with a fullish ball from Khary Pierre, negating the spin and slog-sweeping him over mid-wicket for four. It was the shot of a player that spent most of the day licking his lips in anticipation of having a bat on this pitch against this opposition. Midway through the day, the crowds in the stands thronged to the front of the boundary to greet Mohammed Siraj after his net session; he was having a batting session, not bowling. These conditions even have India’s tail wagging ahead of Saturday.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Anomalies

The complete Indian dominance was underscored by the fact that the two wickets India lost were not due to sustained pressure or skillful bowling but were anomalies. Even the West Indies' best bowler, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, could only manage freak dismissals on the docile pitch: one was a massive-turning ball that confused KL Rahul (spinning 8.4 degrees against an average of 2.6 degrees), and the other a sharply-nipping quicker one that trapped B Sai Sudharsan. The West Indies were forced to simply toil across the ground for the entire day, reinforcing the assessment that their Test cricket is indeed in deep trouble.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: good batting conditions

The reason for India's batting supremacy was primarily the pitch: Shubman Gill won the toss in his first Test as captain and chose to bat on a "flaccid black soil pitch" that offered very little assistance to the bowlers. After surviving the new-ball spell from the West Indies—the only decent period of bowling—it became evident that the bowlers, facing the stability of Jaiswal and KL Rahul, would have a long, difficult day on a pitch that was heavily favoring the bat.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Jaiswal's approach

The first session after lunch on Day 1 of the second Test between India and West Indies at the Feroz Shah Kotla perfectly encapsulated the day's dominant batting performance by India, epitomized by Yashasvi Jaiswal's approach. In the first four balls of that session, Jaiswal hit three quick boundaries off fast bowler Jayden Seales, taking advantage of a misplaced seam. A frustrated Seales reacted by throwing the ball aggressively at the stumps, hitting Jaiswal's pad, but the batsman remained composed and continued his masterful innings to an unbeaten 173, highlighting how the Indian top order mercilessly exploited the batting-friendly conditions to overwhelm the hapless West Indies bowling attack throughout the 90 overs of play.

India vs West Indies Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 2: Sai Sudharsan after stumps on Day-1

It was a good contribution, good partnership between me and Jaiswal. Hopefully, we'll have longer partnerships and get a big score. Definitely, I wasn't thinking about getting runs, so I was a bit more free, expressed myself, took time rather than rushing things. I didn't try to make things happen. Grateful for whatever I've done, but there's always something in the mind to make a lot more, happy with the runs, but would want to make more. Exciting to watch him bat from the other end, he converts good balls into boundary balls, that's so good to see. He's giving me awareness on what shots to play (on batting with Jaiswal), I'm learning as to what shot to play, the awareness on converting good ones into boundary ones. It's getting lower (on the wicket) and might start to turn genuinely from tomorrow. The wicket has gone slower and softer, hopefully it'll start turning from the rough.

Good morning, folks, it is Saturday morning, and it is going to be a day of runs. India is in a position where the score can be anything in this game from this point. West Indies have another long bowling day on cards unless they have a trick up their sleeve to use on this flat wicket. Do stay with us, it is going to be a fascinating day of cricket.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: STUMPS! India 318/2 in 90 overs

It has been Jaiswal and India's day through and through. Jomel Warrican got both of the wickets that the West Indies managed today. The visitors had started the day well, were right on the money throughout the first session, and then the quality dropped off a cliff in the second and third. Jaiswal made the most of it, accelarating in the second session while Sai Sudharsan played an innings that will be very useful in his mission to hold on to the place he has in the Indian Test team. Shubman Gill has hardly been troubled in his 68-ball stay today, he would also be looking to get a big one tomorrow having missed out in the first Test.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: West Indies serving gifts for Gill and Jaiswal

Seales gave Gill a bit of a stare after the Indian captain defended the fourth ball of the 86th over dead below his feet. Then proceeded to bowl a dolly of a full toss on off for Gill to just ease through mid off for four. That brought up India's 300. Then Phillip started the 87th over with a length ball on leg slanting across Jaiswal which the Indian opener punched to the left of cover point to pick up two. He repeats that delivery next ball, this time Jaiswal cut it late to the right of that fielder, the ball goes to the boundary for four. Phillips goes full on off, Jaiswal reads like a well-lit sign board and sent it past cover for another four. Phillips then almost got the reward for bowling another length ball, with Jaiswal looking to glide the fourth ball fine down the leg side but ends up edgint it to first slip on the bounce. A single next ball.

Just not enough pressure from the West Indies bowlers at all, Jaiswal and Gill are cruising.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Collision! Gill and Imlach need some attention

Oh Gill ended up giving West Indies wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach a bit of a rugby tackle. Phillip continues in the 85th over, Jaiswal flicks the fifth ball to midwicket and sets off for a single. The throw comes at the striker's end but it is a poor one. Gill is running well wide of the wicket but Imlach moves towards his path chasing that throw. It looks like a part of Gill's head and his shoulder went right into Imlach's left-hand side. The West Indies keeper needs some attention on his fingers, Gill was holding his head. They both get some treatment and are good to go. Gill defends the last ball firmly.

Replays show that Jaiswal had held up two fingers to Gill in a mock concussion test during that break, sparking a little smile through the pain from the Indian captain.

Well, the ball is old now, and the slower ones are turning. Warrican has turned the ball for both his dismissals, and Shubman Gill, who has just walked into the middle, would have been wondering what I was watching in the dressing room through the middle passage. Nevertheless, that's what the challenge of playing Test match cricket is: the ebbs and flows of the game and varying conditions through a single day's play. Regardless of the quality of player he is or has shown he can be, he must be able to weather this little storm and get your eye in and make a big score next to your name.

Sai Sudharan has fallen here. Jomel Warrican's delivery spun back in sharply from over the wicket, and Sai Sudharsan, who was playing that flick shot on the back foot quite nicely through the day has missed that one. It looked out, however, Sudharsan decided to send it upstairs, and there were three reds. It was an opportunity to get his first 100 underway, well, not today, but one thing is his place is assured for a few more games for now. Shubman Gill has walked into the middle. The situation is tailor-made for him to make a big score here.

Well, Jaiswal is going through those passages in his innings where he just gets into his shell a bit. That is what he did in the morning session, and it seems like he is going through that lull now. Well, it is something not just the West Indies in this game, other teams too need to make a note of. There is a pattern in the construction of his Test innings where he goes berserk in certain phases and goes into his shell. As of now, the curve is downward, but soon Windies can be pretty assured that thunder will strike, and it would be quite devastating and demoralising if he gets through that swell.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: 30 minutes ticked by

30 minutes have ticked by, and it has been more or less the same. If anything West Indies have upped their game a bit, but it is still not enough to create an opportunity. Jayden Seales, especially, has bowled quite nicely since the break, and a wicket somehow might be a cherry on the top for his efforts, not just in this game but even in Ahmedabad, where he bowled quite nicely with not too many returns to show for. If anything, it was today's noon session that spoiled his figures a bit. But it is something that happens to you as a fast bowler, especially in the sub-continent conditions. Massive learning curve for him.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Promotions

It will be interesting to see how India will play out this innings because this is the only Test batting they might get for a month or so before facing South Africa. Those who are not part of white-ball squads to Australia might get Ranji games, but apart from that, it is going to be a lot of white-ball batting. Players like Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar need to be promoted up the order, maybe after Shubman Gill, just to get a decent hit in the middle in this format of the game. Nitish, especially after his ton at Melbourne, has tapered off a bit with the bat.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Seales starts well but...

Well, Jayden Seales bowled that one well. There might be a hint of reverse-swing on offer for Seales, but how the ball is maintained is hard to judge at the moment. At least for a start, he has used a few cross-seamers first up in that over and has bowled a good length around Jaiswal's off-stump, which did not happen after the morning break. Having said that, Chase is bowling decently but is slipping an odd, poor delivery, and batters who have batted as long as both Jaiswal and Sudharsan have on this wicket are not certainly going to miss out.

Well, it has been a session that completely belonged to India. The previous one West Indies, at least had a brief spell in the morning; they looked good, but in the noon one, the Indian batters hammered the Windies bowling attack. IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: India 220/1 vs West Indies at Tea in New Delhi

Well, that is a wicketless session, something which we don't see often in modern Test cricket because of the pitches' concentration of the batters, etc. But such has been the bowling from West Indies, the pitch was flat, but they offered nothing with the ball. They were going through the motions, and Indian batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan have made the most out of it. Unless the batters themselves make a mistake, the West Indies does not seem like they have a plan to induce that opportunity. We will be right back, expect more or less another session where batters fill their bellies. Do stay with us for the post-tea session.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Tea-break closing in

We are 10 minutes away from Tea break, and this has been a session in which the Indian batters feasted upon. The West Indies bowling attack just looks out of ideas. It is good to have options, but most of the bowling options seem to be operating as individuals rather than as a team working together. While one bowler is building pressure, the other one is letting it go, and when the odd chance gets presented, it is getting dropped like it happened with that Sudharsan catch. It is a sign of a team that is in a pretty wrong space mentally, and the worrying signs for Sammy and his coaching staff are that it is just Day 1.

Sai Sudharsan tried to work one on the leg-side and the ball took the leading edge, and the fielder at mid-wicket dived forward but spilt the catch. It was a lazy shot said Dinesh Karthik. It was a lapse of concentration on him. We have seen a dismissal in England where all day he pulled the ball nicely through the ground, suddenly played an aerial one at the end of the day, despite a fielder being placed there, and was caught. If he has to become a long-term number three for India, he has to make these half-centuries into big tons, especially when an opportunity like this is presented.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has gone past 100. He flicked one onto leg-side and got to his landmark. While on most occasions 100 is a good knock but given how the pitch is playing and the quality of bowling, well, 200 is there for the taking for Jaiswal. He has done everything right today. He applied his basics quite magnificently. In the morning session, when the ball was nibbling a bit, he gave the bowlers the deserved respect, and once the ball got a bit older and the change bowlers came, he changed gears and managed to score his seventh Test 100.

Well, it might be an attempt just to break the momentum of the innings or make Jaiswal, who is on 98 to wait. Well, it has not worked as Jaiswal took the single and went to the other end. He is quite nervous to get his Jaiswal. We have seen him in England to get a bit all over the place when he got onto 99, and his running was a bit off, and so was his shot-making.

Well, Jaiswal is closing in on a ton here. While it is a well-made one, he himself would acknowledge that there are not many easy 100s he would have scored in his first-class career. He had to do his bit in the first hour by playing with discipline; after that, it was all one-way traffic. The slightest bit of pressure applied on the West Indies by him rattled the bowlers, and post-lunch, the bowling has been quite average, which is a polite way to put it. This is day 1 of the match, the body language of the West Indies is quite terrifying, not just for this game but for the future of their Test cricket.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: 11th partnership

Shankar: This is the 11th century partnership involving Jaiswal in Tests and the first with a left-handed batter. Since his debut in July 2023, only Joe Root has been involved in more 100+ stands (16).

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Water break

Sai Sudharsan has got to his half-century here. He got there with a gorgeous cover-drive. This has been a good innings from him. He has played some nice shots and was proactive right from ball one. Well, the general way of batting at three is to absorb the pressure and play attritional cricket, which Sudharsan did try in his previous outings, which worked out for him quite averagely for the potential he has shown so far, but today the attacking game has worked out well for him. Is this going to be his approach going forward, or is it a one-match thing we will find out in the future?

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Bowling woes

There has been plenty of discussion on how the West Indies should bat, but a lot less attention has gone to their bowling. While in the first Test, there were a few sparks where they showed they have some venom in them to do something in this Test, it looked completely flat. The bowling since lunch break has looked even more alarming. The runs have come quite easily to the Indian batters, and the body language from the side has looked quite flat. It is hard to blame Roston Chase as he is new to the job and the side just does not have skilled enough players to match India or Australia before, but what he can control is body language and motivation, which too at this point, is missing.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: What can West Indies do?

When the wickets are flat as these one thing sides in the past have tried to do, or something which can be explored is a short-ball tactic. This is a black-soil wicket which does not have a lot of bounce on it, and it might take a lot out of fast bowlers to get that troubling height. If that is not West Indies are looking for, they can try and have fielders on one side of the wicket, preferably on the off-side, and keep operating that channel around off-stump for a brief spell and frustrate the batters for a bit.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Bowling changes in

Roston Chase brought in the bowling changes here after those leaked runs early on, but there has been no tightening of things here. The runs have been coming quite easily, and batters are picking those moments to score boundaries. Sai Sudharsan, too, has batted quite nicely. One impressive thing from him today has been how nicely he corrected the shot he played in the last innings when he tried to pull the not-so-full one for a boundary and got LBW. Today, he went on the back foot for similar deliveries and flicked them nicely through mid-wicket.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Ordinary bowling

This has been pretty ordinary bowling since Lunch. They are bowling some quite ordinary stuff and letting Jaiswal get some easy boundaries here. Roston Chase and Jayden Seales, who have started the session, have bowled either short and wide or have been quite a few full asking to be driven for a boundary. In the morning session for Seales, that line and length could have worked out because of the new ball and moisture, but now those are just asking to be hit. As per Chase, right from the start, he has been put under pressure, and now those loose balls are coming from him as well.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: 50 for Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal drove one through the covers of Jayden Seales and has got to his half-century. That over has seen three crisp boundaries from him to get the session underway. He started a bit slowly, Jaiswal did in that morning session. After the water break, he changed gears and pounced on anything loose from the spinners, and the way he has started this session, the intent seems to continue from that passage. The wicket has been quite flat for anything to work with for the West Indian bowlers; it just might be a long session for them. It is all about being patient and bowling tight lines, and hoping chance comes through.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Welcome back!

India had a solid first session with the partnerships between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul initially, and then the opener continued his good work with Sai Sudharsan and held onto the innings nicely in the morning session. As per Rahul, it was a bit of an unlucky dismissal. The ball turned sharply, and Rahul, out of his crease, got stumped. Well, that's past. There is plenty to look forward to in this session. IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, can Kotla Test pull the crowd?

Nine months ago, a crowd of more than 12,000 struggled for entry to the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds early in the morning on a weekday to catch the first day of a Ranji Trophy fixture. With Virat Kohli, one of this city’s biggest sporting icons, making his comeback to the domestic circuit, fans thronged to New Delhi’s famous old stadium. Extra gates had to be opened, further seats had to be made available, security cover and deployment of local police had to be tightened on a whim.

Ahead of India’s second Test against the West Indies here starting Friday, the team’s first since Kohli announced his retirement from the longest format, no such fuss can be expected. Precious little local buzz can be felt in the national capital as Shubman Gill’s side arrive as the strong favourites to comfortably win the series against underwhelming opponents that look a far cry from the standards of the top tiers of the international game. IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Behind the Jasprit Bumrah-Mohammed Siraj double act: A symphony of contrasts

During India’s high-intensity training session on Wednesday, a couple of days prior to the start of the second Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, following India’s two marquee pacers was a study of contrasts.

Mohammed Siraj, fresh off a confidence-boosting England Tour in which he played a starring role, could be seen chirping constantly. Bowling coach Morne Morkel had his ear and an arm around his shoulder; while bowling at full tilt, he still had a wink here and a nudge there, always ready to endear himself to his teammates, proving his on-field theatrics are every bit a part of his personality. Jaspirt Bumrah, widely acknowledged as the best bowler in the world and India’s pace spearhead across all formats, generally preferred to be left alone. Neither one to take too much advice nor one to go seeking his teammates in jest, Bumrah, anyway bowling fewer deliveries to protect his body, almost retreated into the background during the lively session. IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: India 94/1 vs West Indies at Lunch in New Delhi

Well, Sai Sudharsan defends one of Warrican's ball nicely, and it is Lunch on Day 1 here. Apart from that, Rahul's dismissal, where the ball turned sharply, it has been quite a predictable morning. The seamers looked threatening in the morning, and spinners, apart from Warrican, have been quite ordinary. Jaiswal has got his eye in the way this wicket is playing; it is going to be better in the noon session than it has been in the morning session, hence a three-digit score is there for the taking for him, and Sai Sudharsan too needs to make this innings count.

Oct 10, 2025 11:27 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Brisk pace

We are closing in on lunch break here, and it has been a good session for India. Sudharsan-Jaiswal partnership has gone at a pretty brisk pace so far, unsettling the spinners. Especially after that early wicket by Warrican, they have gone a bit harder against him and Roston Chase, who has come from the other end, is not being let into his spell either.

Oct 10, 2025 11:18 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Proactive Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan has walked into the middle, and he has played a couple of cracking shots already. He has been a slow starter in his innings, whatever evidence he has given us with his batting, but today he so far in the 10 balls he has faced, he has looked a lot more proactive. This is an important innings for him, especially with Dhruv Jurel's ton in the previous Test. Sunil Gavaskar has a suggestion: that if he could be pushed at three, even if not Jurel, if Sudharsan is not going to have a big score in this home series, the selectors might be tempted to look elsewhere.

Oct 10, 2025 11:08 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: KL Rahul departs

KL Rahul has departed here. Jomel Warrican has come into the attack and tossed one up nicely, and Rahul charged down the track, and the ball turned sharply away from him and was stumped. There was a surprise look on Rahul's face as he walked back. With a bit of moisture in the morning session, when the ball hits those areas with seam, this can happen. Although Rahul did look a bit surprised, it must be said he was beaten all ends up, and a very nice delivery from Warrican, the pace he bowls also had quite a role to play in that dismissal.

Oct 10, 2025 10:58 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: 50-run stand

Rahul clipped one through the mid-wicket one for a boundary, which has brought up the 50-run stand between Jaiswal and Rahul. One of the healthiest signs of a good Test side is their openers giving good starts, and since these two have gotten together, they have made sure more often than not the middle order is not exposed to new ball bowlers and have successfully taken the shine off the ball so that the batters who follow have a bit more freedom with their stroke play. Well, a bit of an unusual part of this partnership has been that Rahul has dominated Jaiswal with his strike rate here.

Oct 10, 2025 10:49 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Attacking intent

Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul both slammed a couple of shots down the ground for boundaries, indicating now they are now going to change gears, which is expected and what they did in the Ahmedabad Test. More than playing a bit in their shells, this opening combination seems to stick to the adage of give the first hour to the bowler and then take it from there. As per the West Indies, it is spin time, and Pierre has come into the attack. The left-arm spinner does not have much to work with, but there will be slight moisture in the surface, which might induce an odd turning ball in this morning's session.

Oct 10, 2025 10:39 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Water break

Well, it is a bit of shared passage. Although the West Indies did not pick up any wickets, India has not given up the game either. There has been some tight bowling, nothing alarming, but enough to keep the batters quiet. However, the challenge for them begins now after the break, with both batters getting their eye in and the change bowlers coming in, batters will look a bit more to play on the aggressive side. Jaiswal, especially, we have seen the flick of the switch he can make through various stages of his innings, and it will be interesting to see if he will do it or continue his cautious approach.

Oct 10, 2025 10:29 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Close call

We had the first opportunity here, not exactly an opportunity per se. Philip jagged one back. It was a good ball. Rahul clearly was beaten by that one coming back, and the ball hit Rahul's pads. There were plenty of appeals, but the umpire did not give it out. The West Indies team has sent it upstairs, and it was the umpire's call on both impact and wicket-hitting. Well, Rahul might be wondering if these were the kind of dismissals that would have gone against him during his poor run in Test matches at the top of the order. Well, as per Philip, he seems to be a lot more accomplished red-ball bowler than what we have seen with Layne in the previous game.

Oct 10, 2025 10:19 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Good start

Rahul has started well here again. In fact, he has scored more runs than Jaiswal and has more boundaries than Jaiswal, which is not something you associate with this pairing. Jaiswal has been playing similarly to the way he did in Ahmedabad, where he well into his shell a bit in the initial overs and then after a while he suddenly changed the gear from neutral to overdrive. As per Rahul, his innings in that game has seen a pretty stable tempo where he punished the bad balls and respected the good ones, and kept his innings going nicely.

Oct 10, 2025 10:13 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Different approach

One thing this Indian side has done a bit differently from the recent past ones is they have taken a bit of time up the order. Rohit Sharma, who has been the last one who opened for a good chunk of time, was more on the attacking spectrum against the bowler's and pushed the opposition on the back foot and made it easier for his side even in this format. Once again, it was a double-edged sword, and it did cut both ways. But this duo, Jaiswal and KL Rahul, seems to be more looking to take their time and see off the new ball and then go after the bowling.

Oct 10, 2025 09:59 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Can Rahul score big 100s?

KL Rahul played a nice shot down the leg side for a boundary, which was drifted down the pads by Anderson Philip. The ease with which he has been able to play that is indicative of the form he has been in. In the Ahmedabad Test, he broke the century drought at home, which had been ongoing for nine years, and he will be hoping to continue his good form in this Test too. While it is not fair to nit-pick on someone who has been scoring as many runs as him but his next challenge will be to score big 100s, the matching winning ones. The pitch and the quality of opposition provide an opportunity for him to do it yet again in this game.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Swing and spells

There is a bit of swing in the air for both the new ball bowlers of the West Indies here. In the first Test, one of the strange things from Chase was how reluctant he was to use his bowlers in longer spells. Maybe it has to do with the lack of red-ball games under his belt. Still, now that they have had a few overs into the system, it will be important for Chase to keep the seamers going for that extra over if they are in good rhythm, especially Seales, who looks a level above not just the seamers but even spinners with his wicket-tacking ability.

Oct 10, 2025 09:40 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Kotla 101

This is interesting from Jaiswal. He is already standing out of the crease, which says two things: one, there is some moment in the wicket, and the other, the surface is a bit on the slower side, which is Kotla 101. Jaiswal has been in a run of okayish scores. The start he has had to his career in the West Indies and against England has not been maintained, and one cannot expect to do it either, but today is an opportunity. There are a few green patches, but nothing is alarming on this wicket, and if batters apply themselves, it is one of those wickets where just not hundreds but big hundreds are on the cards.

Oct 10, 2025 09:29 AM IST
IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Let's go!

It looks like a good day for cricket here in New Delhi. The surface here at the Kotla has always been a mysterious one. Only as we go through the day will we find out the nature of the wicket. But for the majority of it, India should enjoy batting on it. As per the West Indies, their seamers will have some moisture to work with, and they will be hoping to make the most of it in the morning session.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Pitch report by Deep Dasgupta and Ian Bishop

It's a pleasant morning in Delhi. It's not too warm, it's not too cold. This looks like an interesting pitch. What we have is grass areas where the absolute live grass will hold the surface together and the ball might skid off. And we have bald areas which will scuff up at some point during the Test match and bring the spinners into play. It's almost a pitch of two halves. It doesn't feel that hard either. I'm not expecting my kind (pacers) to get great deal of bounce and carry. This pitch will play better than it looks even though it looks patchy. It could be two-paced in nature. Win the toss and bat first here.

We were batting first as well, the pitch looks dry, so not too worried. We've had some big discussions as a batting group, look to bat the whole day, the entire 90 overs. Look to bat consistently - two changes for uus, Brandon King and Johann Layne out, Anderson Phillip and Tevim Imlach in - he's from Guyana and is used to these sort of surfaces.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Shubman Gill at toss

We will bat first, the wicket looks good to bat on Day 1. Consistency is the key for us. To be able to repeat performances and to be able to have the same intensity in every match that we play. Something that we often speak about and that's what we are trying to look for in this test match as well. Honestly, not much. I am still the same person but definitely have more responsibilities now. But I like responsibilities and a very exciting future for me (on being elevated across all formats). We have got the same team.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Contrasting styles

Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, differ completely not only in personality but also in their bowling approach and future roles: one is characterized as the "workhorse"—defined by his superior fitness and consistency in maintaining line and length—who is expected to be the team's reliable mainstay; the other is characterized as the "artist"—who, despite an ailing body requiring careful management, possesses the unique ability to be a match-turning "X-factor" who will be carefully deployed in only the most challenging assignments.

IND vs WI Live Cricket Score, 2nd Test Day 1: Stabilizing

The young Indian side, under coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill, has stabilized following a transitional period with a respectable 2-2 series draw in England. Moving forward, the performance and partnership of pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be vital to the team's success in upcoming international tours (Sri Lanka, New Zealand) and the home series against Australia, especially given the current lack of depth and quality among the other fast bowlers. The current Test in Delhi is viewed as a key practice opportunity to develop the crucial Bumrah-Siraj partnership.

“Our (batting) has been poor. The mindset has to be different. The mindset prepares the skillset. If you’re not prepared to work hard, you get nowhere,” he said. “A quick example: Shubman Gill, in 2021, you could see he had an obvious deficiency against the ball coming back (into the stumps/pads). In 2025, you don’t see those same problems, he is a much better player. We have got guys getting out the same way they were three or four years ago.”

But it starts with the belief and the mindset of each and every player. And just to keep motivating the guys that we can still play some positive cricket. And change the run.
