Wikimedia Hackathon 2023: registration and scholarship application open

Hello all, As you may have heard, the Wikimedia Hackathon <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2023> is back in person on May 19-21 in Athens, Greece. We are now opening the registration form that also includes an optional scholarship application form open until January 14th. Registration is required to attend the onsite Wikimedia Hackathon in Athens. The registration form remains open until we reach the capacity of the venue (around 220 people). The event is free of charge - participants are expected to book their travel arrangements individually, unless they are granted a scholarship. Update on Vector 2022

Hello everyone! This is an update from the Wikimedia Foundation Web team working on the new skin Vector 2022 <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Reading/Web/Desktop_Improvements>. For the past few months, our focus has been on discussing deployments across various large wikis. This includes English Wikipedia. Its community has agreed to have Vector 2022 as the default under some conditions <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Deployment_of_…>. We have addressed those, and now we're having a next discussion <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(technical)#Vector_202…> with the English Wikipedia community. We have also been switching the skin on the majority of Wikipedias. There are ~300 Wikipedias with the default of Vector 2022 now. Last week, the skin became the default on Arabic and Greek Wikipedias. *We hope to get to all the Wikipedias by the end of February 2023.* Would you like to learn more?
