About Ricochet

What Is Ricochet?

Since 2010, Ricochet has been the community for smart, civil conversation on the center right. Both the website and the flagship Ricochet Podcast began that year, providing informative and entertaining content in articles and audio.

Reagan speechwriter Peter Robinson and Hollywood writer and producer Rob Long founded Ricochet as a place for internet discussion and debate without the trolling, spamming, and hate that’s taken up so much of the online world. Here, we discuss news, politics, entertainment, culture – you name it – and have fun doing it.

Staff

Charles C. W. Cooke is the CEO of Ricochet. Charles is a Senior Editor at National Review, the host of The Charles C. W. Cooke Podcast, and the author of The Conservatarian Manifesto. He moved to the United States from England in 2011 and became an American citizen in 2018. He lives in Florida.

Perry Block joined Ricochet in 2016. He began working part-time for the site in 2020 before becoming a full-time staff member the following year. He produces podcasts, including the flagship, and manages post promotions.

Brian Johnson has spent the last 40 years working in the media, both as a producer and technician. He is currently the coordinating producer for Ricochet and line-produces Unsafe with Ann Coulter and Dennis Kneale’s What’s Bugging Me? He lives in Ohio with his wife and waits for his four children to come home.

Moderators

Randy Weivoda is Moderator Prime. Randy joined Ricochet in April of 2011 and became a moderator in July of 2018. He is the administrator for a handful of groups on Ricochet. On episode 668 of the Ricochet Podcast, Rob Long declared Randy to be the Meetup King.

Painter Jean joined Ricochet in 2014 and has been a moderator since the fall of 2022. Jean lives in hopelessly blue Minnesota, where she is an artist, art teacher, and occasional art restorer when she’s not on Ricochet.

Rodin (Ron Nelson) has been a member since 2011, and a moderator since September 2024. He is a recovering attorney whose career was spent initially in the Air Force and thereafter engaging in decades of regulatory capture. Rodin is both proud of, and embarrassed by, his taxpayer-funded career accomplishments. He was and is a patriot, but has come to understand that patriotism comes in many guises. All of Rodin’s most inspired posts arise from conversations with Mrs Rodin.

E. Kent Golding has been a Ricochet member since December 2012. He joined in response to the famous “The End of Ricochet?” post. He has been a moderator since August 2023. He is a once and future home-brewer.
