Wednesday was warm, the blue sky bright as we drove north to Madill and cut across the countryside on the 177 toward Ardmore. We arrived to Turner Falls late morning with our gear. I did not buy tickets ahead of time because we were not sure if we were going to stop. I like randomness and spontaneity. We pulled into the park and I pulled up to the window and he took payment there. During busy times of the year, passes must be purchased ahead of time online. There was no line! In fact, there were no more than ten cars. The young guy at the window gave us a map of the park and suggested we go to the pool where an otter was seen that morning.
We did see the otter but C was much closer to him than I was and she probably got a better shot. We strolled back to the bridge and walked to the car looking for beauty in anything and everything. The water was turquoise in color and clear. While there was no swimming, we did find a family enjoying time along the water wearing summer wear.
The area is dry. I’ve never been to Turner Falls with such a small stream of water on the falls side. I’ve been here when the pool was up to the bathroom doors. The colors of the trees was splendid.

Once we were finished here, we drove up the hill to the backside where the campgrounds are and walked along the Honey Creek off of Wagon Road. This was a beautiful area and there were others enjoying the serenity of it all.
I’d like to return to this area this month with my husband and my son while the leaves are changing colors.
