Bruins' Jeffrey Viel: Playing time sparse
Viel was scratched for the 17th time in the last 20 games when he sat out Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Flames.
Viel has seen bottom-six minutes when he plays, but he's been in the lineup just once in December. The 28-year-old winger has failed to record a point over 10 outings this season, earning 11 shots on net, 27 hits and 30 PIM. If the Bruins want to mix up their roster, Viel could be a candidate to land on waivers to clear a spot for a call-up from AHL Providence.

Bruins' Andrew Peeke: Breaks deadlock Monday
Peeke scored a goal in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Flames.
Peeke broke the deadlock for the Bruins with a deflection late in the first period, but that would be all the offense Boston would muster throughout the game. The marker was Peeke's fourth goal of the campaign, but the 27-year-old plays on the third pairing and doesn't see time on the power play, so his fantasy upside in standard formats is very low. That said, he's notched all four of his goals in December, so he's definitely trending in the right direction.

Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Tagged with OT loss
Swayman stopped 18 of 20 shots in Monday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Flames.
Swayman was beaten midway through the second period and once more in overtime, although the OT goal was an own goal that was attributed to Connor Zary. Swayman is now winless in his last five appearances, a stretch in which he's gone 0-2-2 with a 3.45 GAA and a subpar .852 save percentage. Things won't get easier for the 27-year-old with a matchup against a red-hot Oilers offense on New Year's Eve.

Bruins' Tanner Jeannot: Not playing Monday
Jeannot (undisclosed) isn't playing Monday in Calgary, per Belle Fraser of the Bruins' official site.
Jeannot will miss his second game in a row due to his injury. After Monday's game, Boston will continue its road trip Wednesday in Edmonton. Jeannot can be considered day-to-day ahead of that matchup.

Bruins' Jonathan Aspirot: Removed from IR
Aspirot (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.
Based on the morning skate, Aspirot will skate alongside Hampus Lindholm on the second pairing against Calgary on Monday. The 26-year-old Aspirot missed the last seven games. He has one goal, 12 shots on net, 28 blocked shots and 32 hits across 19 appearances this season.

Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Slated starter Monday
Swayman is expected to start on the road against Calgary on Monday, per Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
Swayman hasn't earned a win across his past four outings, going 0-2-1 while allowing 14 goals on 88 shots (.841 save percentage). He's 14-10-1 with a 2.91 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 26 appearances this season. Calgary ranks 28th in goals per game with 2.61.

Bruins' David Pastrnak: Nets lone goal in loss
Pastrnak scored a goal in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Sabres.
Pastrnak has two goals and an assist over his last three games, though his pace has slowed down after he came back hot from an undisclosed injury. The star winger is up to 15 goals, 41 points, 114 shots on net, 45 hits, 28 PIM and a minus-12 rating through 34 appearances. Pastrnak's prominent usage will keep him productive even if the Bruins can't generate significant offense as a team.

Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Rattled by Sabres
Korpisalo turned aside 30 of 33 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to Buffalo, with the Sabres' final goal getting scored into an empty net.
All three pucks that got past Korpisalo came as a result of traffic in front of him -- he was partially or fully screened on two goals, and the third was tipped home by Peyton Krebs. The Bruins No. 2 netminder is struggling to get into the win column on a consistent basis -- over his last eight outings, dating back to Nov. 13, Korpisalo has gone 2-5-0 with a shaky 3.98 GAA and .880 save percentage.

Bruins' Matej Blumel: Activated and sent down
Blumel (lower body) was activated from long-term injured reserve Sunday and sent to AHL Providence.
Blumel was injured Nov. 26 against the Islanders and has been on long-term injured reserve since then. The 25-year-old has played four games in the NHL this season, posting a minus-3 rating, two hits and two blocked shots in those contests. Healthy again now, he'll rejoin AHL Providence, where he has 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 13 games.

Bruins' Michael Callahan: Activated from IR, sent to AHL
Callahan (lower body) was activated from injured reserve and assigned to AHL Providence on Sunday.
Callahan sat out 11 games after suffering an injury against Detroit on Dec. 2. Now that he's healthy, he will get some playing time in the minors. He hasn't earned a point in five NHL appearances this season while posting three shots on net, nine blocked shots and three hits. Callahan has two assists in 12 AHL outings this year.

Bruins' Matthew Poitras: Three points Saturday
Poitras scored twice and added an assist in AHL Providence's 7-1 win over Springfield on Saturday.
Poitras was Providence's leading scorer for a contest that saw six different players get goals. With five points over his last four outings, Poitras has set a steady pace lately. He's at six goals, 18 points, 55 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through 27 appearances this season as the Bruins continue to let him develop with the farm team.

Bruins' Tanner Jeannot: Unavailable Saturday
Jeannot (undisclosed) has been ruled out of Saturday's tilt in Buffalo. Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.
Jeannot will miss his first game of the season. He has four goals, 11 assists, 31 blocked shots, 113 hits and 39 PIM across 38 games this season. There is no word at this time as to who his replacement will be in the lineup.

Bruins' Joonas Korpisalo: Starting in Buffalo
Korpisalo will be between the visiting pipes in Buffalo on Saturday, per Heather Engel of NHL.com.
Korpisalo is coming off his worst performance of the season, as he gave up five goals on 17 shots in a 6-2 loss to Ottawa on Sunday. Korpisalo is 6-7-0 with a 3.63 GAA and an .880 save percentage over 14 games this season. The Sabres are the hottest team in the NHL, winners of seven straight games.

Bruins' Viktor Arvidsson: Draws helper in return
Arvidsson notched a power-play assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Arvidsson had missed five games due to a lower-body injury, but he saw 14:34 of ice time in a second-line role in his return. Prior to his latest injury, he was rolling, and he's now earned a goal and four helpers over his last six outings. He's at 15 points, 67 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating through 26 contests, so he could have appeal as a scoring-only option in fantasy if he can avoid additional injuries.

Bruins' Marat Khusnutdinov: Finds twine Tuesday
Khusnutdinov scored a goal and added two hits in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Khusnutdinov has been trending well lately with a goal and three assists over his last five games, but he's in a bottom-six role with little consistent power-play time. The 23-year-old forward has proven himself to be a versatile option in his time with the Bruins, so he may continue to float around the lineup wherever he's needed. He's produced 12 points in just 33 outings, matching his regular-season total from 75 appearances last year. Khusnutdinov also has 35 shots on net, 18 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating this season.

Bruins' Alex Steeves: Scores on power play
Steeves scored a power-play goal on two shots, added four PIM and logged three hits in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Steeves remains in the power-play mix despite dropping into a bottom-six role in recent games. It'll be tough for him to sustain his success from late November and early December without more proximity to Boston's best players, but he is doing enough to stick around in the NHL. The 26-year-old is at eight goals, two helpers, 30 shots on net, 81 hits, 23 PIM and a plus-4 rating through 21 appearances.
