Top Stars News

  • Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Ready to roll

Lundkvist (lower body) is good to go for Wednesday's home contest against the Sabres, Sam Nestler of DLLS Stars reports.

Lundkvist won't miss any game action after taking a maintenance day Sunday. The Swedish defenseman skated next to Thomas Harley on the second pairing during Tuesday's practice. Lundkvist scored his first goal since the Stars' regular-season opener against the Blackhawks on Saturday, snapping his nine-game point drought in the process.

  • Stars' Nathan Bastian: Sent to AHL for conditioning

Bastian was loaned to AHL Texas on Tuesday on a conditioning stint.

Bastian has often been a healthy scratch this season, but he got back into the lineup Saturday against Chicago following a nine-game stint out of the lineup. The 28-year-old has just three points, all goals, and 48 hits over 20 appearances this season.

  • Stars' Cameron Schmidt: Keeps scoring Sunday

Schmidt scored three goals and added an assist in WHL Vancouver's 7-3 win over Kamloops on Sunday.

Schmidt stretched his point streak to 17 games Sunday, with this being his third multi-goal effort in that span. He's racked up 13 goals and 15 helpers during the streak. Overall, the creative winger has collected 25 goals, 54 points and 139 shots on net over 36 appearances for the Giants this season.

  • Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Now dealing with lower-body injury

Lundkvist has been playing through a lower-body injury, Sam Nestler of DLLS Stars reports Sunday.

Lundkvist is dealing with a whole host of injuries including a lower-body injury that he's playing with as of late. None of these injuries are a concern, though, as he will practice Tuesday ahead of the Stars' next game Wednesday. The 25-year-old has four points (two goals, two assists) in 12 games so far this season.

  • Stars' Justin Hryckowian: Riding five-game point streak

Hryckowian scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.

Hryckowian is on a five-game point streak (three goals, two assists). The 24-year-old has earned his place as a bottom-six regular for the Stars this season, though his fantasy utility remains limited even during his current successful run. He's at a total of six goals, 13 points, 40 shots on net, 59 hits, 17 blocked shots, 17 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 38 appearances this season.

  • Stars' Mikko Rantanen: Scores, assists Saturday

Rantanen scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.

Rantanen set up Justin Hryckowian's goal in the second period and later added a tally of his own to give Dallas a 3-2 lead in the third period. Rantanen has been highly productive this season, racking up 54 points (15 goals, 39 assists) in 38 games. He ranks fifth in the league in total points, trailing only Connor McDavid (67), Nathan MacKinnon (61), Macklin Celebrini (55) and Leon Draisaitl (55).

  • Stars' Wyatt Johnston: Records three assists

Johnston delivered three assists in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.

Johnston didn't find the back of the net in this one, but the star forward made his presence felt by participating in the build-up of each of the Stars' three goals. Johnston remains one of the most productive forwards in the league this season and is up to 45 points (20 goals, 25 assists) in 38 games. He's on pace to surpass the career-best 71-point haul he posted in 82 games during the 2024-25 regular season.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Loses in shootout to Chicago

Oettinger stopped 30 of 33 shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blackhawks.

Oettinger saw the end of his brief two-game winning run, but the star netminder has posted solid numbers even in games where he's not winning. Oettinger has gone 14 consecutive games while allowing three goals or fewer, and that level of consistency has the 27-year-old ranked among the best goaltenders in the NHL.

  • Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Gets stitches after puck to face

Lundkvist required stitches after taking a puck to the face late in the third period of Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Blackhawks, Sam Nestler of DLLS Stars reports.

Lundkvist scored a goal in the contest, but he wasn't able to finish the game. Nestler reported that Lundkvist seemed fine despite missing his media availability after the game, so he can be considered on the probable side of day-to-day for Wednesday's contest versus the Sabres. He's up to four points in 12 outings this season.

  • Stars' Matthew Seminoff: Nets pair in AHL loss

Seminoff scored twice in AHL Texas' 8-4 loss to Rockford on Saturday.

Seminoff's play has taken a step up this season. The 22-year-old forward is up to eight goals and 14 points through 28 appearances, one point shy of matching his career-best total from 2023-24, which came in 70 games. Seminoff has four goals and an assist over his last four outings as he continues to heat up.

  • Stars' Ilya Lyubushkin: Not available Saturday

Lyubushkin will miss Saturday's game against Chicago because of an illness, Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports reports.

Lyubushkin has one goal, six assists, 43 hits, 52 blocked shots and 23 PIM across 27 games this season. Kyle Capobianco will enter the lineup in place of Lyubushkin. The Stars don't play again until Wednesday, and Lyubushkin is expected to be healthy enough to return at that time.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: In goal Saturday

Oettinger will patrol the home crease against Chicago on Saturday, Owen Newkirk of DLLS Sports reports.

Oettinger has won his last two outings while turning aside 61 of the 65 shots he has faced. He has a 16-6-2 record with two shutouts, a 2.50 GAA and a .910 save percentage through 24 appearances. Chicago sits 26th in the league with 2.75 goals per game this year.

  • Stars' Casey DeSmith: Done in by Dylan Larkin's exploits

DeSmith made 21 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit.

DeSmith was leading until 15:57 of the third when Dylan Larkin beat him, and then Larkin scored again 34 seconds into the overtime frame. The four goals were the most DeSmith has allowed since his first game of the season (Oct. 16; five goals). That's also the last time he lost in regulation -- he's 9-0-4 in 13 starts since, and his 2.33 GAA and .915 save percentage overall continue to shine. DeSmith is one of the NHL's best backups.

  • Stars' Jamie Benn: Four-game, five-point streak

Benn scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit.

Benn beat John Gibson a 2-on-1 break at the end of the second period that put Dallas up 2-1. The goal stretched Benn's current point streak to four games and five points (three goals, two assists). The 36-year-old continues to defy time with his strong play. Overall, he has seven goals and seven assists in 19 games, but his ice time continues to drop irrespective of his output. Benn played just 10:45 on Tuesday after putting up 9:49 on Sunday. Yes, that could be to rest him, but at the same time, he's adjusted to less ice time. It's an experiment, but one that is worth getting on board with.

  • Stars' Roope Hintz: Five points in last four games

Hintz scored a power-play goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit on Tuesday.

Hintz finished a tic-tac-toe passing play from the right circle by firing a shot over John Gibson's blocker. It tied the game 1-1 in the second period. Hintz has points in three of his last four games (three goals, two assists). He's put up a lot of points on the power play (15) and wins face-offs (254 wins; 56.8 percent). Hintz's all-around game and 70-point potential make him a must-roll in fantasy.

  • Stars' Wyatt Johnston: League-leading 14th power-play goal

Johnston scored a goal Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit.

Johnston scored on a deflection on the power play in the third period to put the Stars up 3-2. It was his 20th goal of the season, and he currently leads the NHL with 14 power-play goals. Johnston has increased both his goal and overall point total every season he's been in the NHL, and this season is no different. He's on pace for at least 40 goals, 90 points and 200 shots this year.

  • Stars' Mikko Rantanen: Five-game, nine-point streak

Rantanen delivered two assists Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Red Wings.

The winger is on a five-game, nine-point streak that includes eight assists. Rantanen sits in the NHL's top three playmakers with 37 helpers, and his 51 points in 37 games put him on pace for a 113-point season. That would be a career mark for the 29-year-old.
