After 10 years away from any kind of film or TV set, Cameron Diaz is officially, well, back in action with her new film “Back in Action.”
Now streaming on Netflix, the film centers on Emily and Matt, two CIA operatives who learn they’re having a baby together. Shortly thereafter, their plane home is compromised and crashes, giving them the opportunity to fake their deaths and go off the grid to raise their family as civilians.
Of course, secret past lives can’t always stay secret forever. When theirs catches up with them, the now-parents are forced onto a new mission, this time bringing their kids along.
If you’re here though, you probably know all that. You probably also know that the film has an 11-minute credit sequence, which you might not have watched, and you’re just looking for the songs in the film. Well, we’ve got you.

There’s a reason we keep coming back to the heist movie genre, again and again and again. That’s because although most movies would have you believe that committing crimes is bad, we can’t help but respect a character who does it well. Robbing a little old lady on the street is unforgivable, sure, but robbing a wealthy old lady who keeps her hoard of ill-gotten money in an impenetrable vault surrounded by lasers and mercenaries? You gotta respect the moxie of anybody who even tries. And if they succeed, well dang, good for them. It sounds like they earned every penny.
There’s no shortage of classic heist movies, but with income inequality on our minds, and billionaires actively destroying everything decent about this planet every single day, the genre seems particularly alluring in the 21st century. Maybe that’s why we’ve had so many classic...

Throughout the 1970s, audiences couldn’t get enough of disaster movies. The decade began with the all-star blockbuster bomb-on-a-plane thrill ride Airport, based on Arthur Hailey’s best-seller. Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, Maureen Stapleton, Van Heflin, Jean Seberg, and Jacqueline Bisset headlined Airport, which became the second-biggest box-office hit of the year and earned nine Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and winning Best Supporting Actress for Hayes. Airport also established the template for subsequent movies: trapping all-star casts on a plane, a ship, or a high-rise.

Jonah Hill’s rise to stardom in Hollywood was a coming-of-age comedy that still rules as one of the best comedy films of the 2000s, Superbad.
The film saw three teenagers, played by Hill, Michael Cera, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, making plans to party and lose their virginity before their high school graduation. Interestingly, Hill found his debutant co-star Mintz-Plasse annoying to film with.

Writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg based the characters of Hill and Cera on themselves during their senior year, hence the characters were named Seth and Evan. Rogen and Goldberg started developing the script in 2000 and it took seven years for them to see their vision on the screen.

Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series spotlighting the scripts fueling the year’s most talked-about movies continues with Better Man, Paramount’s musical biopic based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams. The script was penned by Simon Gleeson, Oliver Cole and Michael Gracey.
Gracey directs the uniquely personal film about Williams, capturing his wit, resilience, and extraordinary journey. From boyband stardom with Take That to a record-shattering solo career, the film explores the highs and lows of his success. And only Williams could get away with telling his life story through the unique lens of a chimpanzee, a truly unexpected perspective that distinguishes this biopic from others.
Gracey explains the inspiration for portraying Williams as a monkey came from Robbie himself.

“The sun is sinking in the West / The cattle go down to the stream / The redwing settles in her nest / It’s time for a cowboy to dream.”
Those immortal lyrics from Paul Francis Webster kick off one of the loveliest scenes in movie history, from one of the greatest Westerns of all time: When Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson sing “My Rifle, My Pony, and Me” in “Rio Bravo” — a glorious moment when the plot of the movie more or less comes to a halt and you just spend some time hanging out with these characters and the extraordinary talents inhabiting them. After all, cinematic artistry expresses itself through so very much more than just plot. And the pleasures of cinema so much more than just the sum of “what advances the story.”

Though she is an indie pop superstar in her own right, Lykke Li says writing a song for someone else to sing was her “dream in life.” So when her longtime friend and colleague Andrew Wyatt reached out for her help on a finale song for “The Last Showgirl,” the Pamela Anderson vehicle, about a veteran Las Vegas performer having to come to terms with her revue shuttering, Li was happy to oblige.

It’s that special time of year when holiday music gets played 24/7, to the joy of Christmas fanatics, and the existential horror of every single person working in the customer service industry.
But while we’ll no doubt be hearing a lot of Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby and (shudder) Jimmy Fallon this year, one name that hasn’t become synonymous with holiday music is Eric Idle.
The Monty Python star recently alluded to this fact on social media, bemoaning that Spotify has seen a spike in streams for Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmastime” but not his own seasonal track. Of course, that could have something to do with the fact that Idle’s holiday song features the less than savory title: “Fuck Christmas.”

James Bond is one of the most celebrated characters in the literary and cinematic world alike. The adventures of the suave British spy have entertained audiences for decades. To play the role of James Bond on screen is a highly coveted opportunity among actors. And since the release of the first Bond film, Dr. No in 1962, only six actors have officially played 007 in the Eon Productions franchise. And they will go down in history for having played the icon that is James Bond.
However, the lineup of “actors who have played James Bond” would have looked very different, had things gone differently in some places. Many desperately sought the role; while the number of actors who were offered and almost chosen to play the MI6 agent and decided not to, is not small either.
It will be interesting to look back at the past and see which actors missed out...

Earl Holliman, the actor best known for playing Angie Dickinson’s boss on the 1970s NBC cop drama Police Woman, has died. He was 96.
Holliman died Monday in hospice care at his home in Studio City, his spouse, Craig Curtis, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Holliman won a best supporting actor Golden Globe for portraying Katharine Hepburn’s girl-crazy kid brother in The Rainmaker (1956) — he beat out Elvis Presley for the role — and then appeared in another Burt Lancaster film, as Wyatt Earp’s assistant in Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957).
In the George Stevens epic Giant (1956), the Louisiana native played the son-in-law of Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson’s characters, was the cook in Forbidden Planet (1956) and appeared as the brother of John Wayne, Dean Martin and Michael Anderson Jr. in Henry Hathaway’s The Sons of Katie Elder (1965).

If you’re an awards watcher, you might have noticed that this year’s Oscar season discourse feels a bit more…rabid than usual. Stan accounts on Twitter getting involved, online back-and-forth about actresses’ work before their films have even been released, a general air of slavish devotion to projects that feels more than slightly cultish. What’s going on? Well, this is just what happens nowadays when two of the biggest pop stars on the planet are in the Oscars conversation. We can only imagine the response IndieWire will get for this list of the 10 best film performances by pop stars.

You know a comedian had a dark side when he made an entire movie about a clown who witnesses and participates in the Holocaust and that’s still not the most disturbing decision he ever made.
Like too many of his contemporaries, the so-called “King of Comedy” wasn’t exactly chivalrous when it came to his treatment of women or his subjects. In fact, when Jerry Lewis was asked which female comedians he admired at the Aspen U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in 1998, he infamously responded, “I don’t like any female comedians. A woman doing comedy doesn’t offend me but sets me back a bit. I, as a viewer, have trouble with it. I think of her as a producing machine that brings babies in the world.” And, to absolutely no one’s surprise, Lewis’ less than stellar treatment of women (and people in general) extended past his...

Andrew Stevens pays loving but not hagiographic tribute to his late mother, famed actress Stella Stevens, in his documentary recently showcased at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. The film convincingly makes the case that its subject, best known for her performances in such pictures as The Poseidon Adventure and The Nutty Professor, is severely underrated, both as an actress and social activist. Stella Stevens: The Last Starlet aims to rectify that perception and, thanks to numerous clips of her work and effusive commentary by the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Vivica A. Fox, it succeeds beautifully.
The filmmaker (who appears frequently) admits that his relationship with his mother was rocky, to say the least, in the early years. Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Stevens got married at age 16 and had Andrew, her first and only child, six months later. The marriage soon dissolved, and when she moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career,...

Seth MacFarlane is most famous for creating (and voice acting in) crass comedy cartoons like "Family Guy" and "American Dad." His love for animation was sparked by primetime TV's first cartoon sitcom, "The Flintstones," but animation is not MacFarlane's only passion -- he also loves show tunes and musicals.
Indeed, MacFarlane's all-time favorite movie is "The Sound of Music," Robert Wise's 1965 musical epic starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. As he put it to Wired when revealing his favorite film, "Can you believe that? Who would've thought? 'The Sound of motherf***ing Music.'"
"The Sound of Music" adapted the 1959 stage musical of the same name, which itself was based on the true story of the Austrian Von Trapp family, a family of singers who escaped their Nazi-conquered homeland in 1938. Frank Sinatra delivered some of the most compelling renditions of music in the 20th century. One of his best known was his 1960s masterpiece, “Strangers in the Night.” However, Old Blue Eyes wasn’t that fond of that particular piece of music. He called it “a piece of s***.”

Shirley MacLaine is making a ghastly racket. It sounds like a combination of retching and the “aack” noise that the protagonist of that old “Cathy” comic strip used to make whenever she was nauseated, horrified, infuriated or you name it. We’re discussing an encounter that MacLaine had with Donald Trump in the ’80s, when she went to look at an apartment in one of his buildings. “In his head, I could see he was undressing himself and me, and I got out of there very fast,” MacLaine writes in her new book, “The Wall of Life: Pictures and Stories From This Marvelous Lifetime.”
MacLaine is even more animated when I ask her what she made of the real estate developer turned Maga leader. “Did you hear me shriek?” she asks. “I think that says it all.” She pauses for dramatic effect before delivering a final, emphatic: “Yuck!”

It’s a well-established fact that the respective creators of South Park and Family Guy hate each other, and that’s to be expected — theater geeks just love drama.
The animated comedy community is rife with rivalries, and some are much friendlier than others. Ever since the Golden Age of Warner Bros. and Disney, the cartoon business has always had a healthy spirit of competition between the power players that can occasionally spill over into ugly acrimony — like how Seth MacFarlane responded to a Simpsons gag about Peter Griffin being a clone of Homer by having Quagmire straight up sexually assault Marge and murder her family. However, MacFarlane’s most heated and most personal feud somehow isn’t with the predecessor series to which his Family Guy is so often compared, but with the outspoken creative duo of Trey Parker and Matt Stone who made their feelings about MacFarlane’s...

It hardly needs repeating, but director John Carpenter is known for making multiple horror classics, including "Halloween," "The Fog," "Christine," "The Thing," "Prince of Darkness," "In the Mouth of Madness" and "Vampires." Although Carpenter doesn't have a notable, recognizable style or motif in his filmography (apart from recurring actors) he does seem to possess a subtle, natural mastery of filmmaking craft that makes all his films, even the bad ones, imminently watchable.
Carpenter loves horror, of course, but oddly, he's not a horror guy at heart. He possesses an old-world workman's attitude when it comes to filmmaking, just sort of sussing out, by instinct, how to shoot a scene, regardless of genre. Carpenter has given multiple interviews where he's talked about monster movies and sci-fi flicks that inspired him, but moreso, Carpenter talks about the films of John Ford and Howard Hawks, two American filmmakers best known for their high-profile Westerns.

And if you read on, we’ll discuss all of them.

Michael Bublé revealed that he made jazz his own by “emulating and copying” other artists. The singer modernized the genre and made it popular again. How did he do it?
“Sway” With Michael Bublé
Michael Bublé is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He is well known for her Christmas music. In addition, he is known for his jazz music like “Sway” and “Feeling Good.” However, he is flexible as recently did a song with Jason Derulo, “Spicy Margarita.”
Married to Luisana Lopilato since 2011, the two have four kids together and the singer has mentioned before how important his family is to him. Both he and his wife have previously paused their careers for his son, Noah when he was struggling with liver cancer.
Now, the music star is a coach for The Voice. However, he rejected the position more than ten times before finally accepting it. Fans get to see...

Award-winning director Bong Joon Ho is releasing a new sci-fi film called “Mickey 17” in January 2025. The movie stars Robert Pattinson in the title role of Mickey Barnes, an “Expendable” sent to help colonize the icy planet Niflheim. What makes Mickey unique is that he continuously dies in the name of science, with his memories and body replicated each time.
The movie is based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7.” The first trailer provides a glimpse at Mickey enduring various violent deaths. It shows Pattinson bringing his intense acting style to portray multiple versions of the same character. As more Mickey clones coexist, chaos and excitement reportedly ensue.
Bong is known for blending social commentary with dark humor in movies like “Snowpiercer” and “Okja.” “Mickey 17” appears to examine themes of identity and human worth in a futuristic setting. The director sweeps last year’s Academy Awards for “Parasite” and...

Robert Pattinson dies, and dies, and dies in the new trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s latest project “Mickey 17.”
Based on the 2022 novel “Mickey7” by Edward Ashton, the sci-fi thriller follows a down-on-his-luck Mickey (Pattinson), who signs up to die without reading the fine print. Mickey has donated his life to science, testing the limits of human nature and capabilities. But when one version of him dies, a clone is created in its place, retaining most of his memories and prepared to take on the next deadly mission.
Here’s a bit of what happens: Mickey drowns in lava, gets his hand chopped off in outer space and freezes to death, as Dean Martin’s “Ain’t’ That a Kick in the Head” plays brightly in the background, hinting at the tone of Bong’s forthcoming project.
“Even on my 17th go-around, I hate dying,” Mickey says in the trailer...

What do you do after you've won the Oscar for Best Picture? If you're Bong Joon-ho, you get right back to work to make another banger, and choose to make it potentially weirder and more studded with Hollywood stars than anything you've made before. The first full trailer for Bong's "Parasite" follow-up "Mickey 17" is finally here, and his adaptation of Edward Ashton's trippy sci-fi novel, "Mickey7," looks great — darkly funny, unnerving, and, yes, trippy.
The first sneak peek of the new movie came over a year ago, in December 2022. At that point, "Mickey 17" was due to hit theaters by early 2024, but it was subsequently delayed by what The Hollywood Reporter previously referred to "post-strike production shifts," which no doubt gave the movie's team more time to make it as sharp and cinematic as possible in post-production.

Norm Macdonald’s most popular impression on Saturday Night Live was Burt Reynolds, the ‘70s action-comedy star who… Wait, what’s this? Mr. Reynolds has entered a new name on the podium. He’d now like to be referred to as “Turd Ferguson.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Turd Ferguson. It’s a funny name.”
By his own admission, Macdonald wasn’t much of a sketch comedian, preferring to stay behind the Weekend Update desk and deliver one-liners. But he made an exception when it came to Reynolds. “I knew that if I did an impression of him it would get a laugh because he has such great comic timing and delivery,” Macdonald told Paste Magazine in 2018 after Reynolds’ passing. “So it was really stealing his persona to get laughs, you know. But I could never figure out a way. This guy that I wrote with, Steve Higgins … me and Higgins...

Not unlike that of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, whose off-screen friendship raised the bar on their on-screen chemistry across several Rat Pack films, George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s smooth-operating, cross-demographic appeal speaks to a timeless allure. Theirs is a brand of debonair masculinity that seems to only exist in the Hollywood imaginary, and it’s one that writer-director Jon Watts’s action comedy Wolfs is content to lazily coast on.
The witty repartee between Clooney and Pitt’s characters, two professional fixers who find themselves hired for the same job, feels like the only thing holding the film together. Scene after scene finds the men trying to exercise their masculinist domination over each other—a dick-wagging contest that grows old fast. And when they aren’t ribbing each other, they’re sexily standing around brooding. It’s like watching an episode of Variety Studio: Actors on Actors...

Superstar singer Robbie Williams displayed his signature cheekiness at the world premiere screening of Michael Gracey’s musical biography Better Man when he asked members of the audience at the Telluride Film Festival to “suspend your absolute bigotry” over a word that most Americans find offensive.
Williams joined Gracey to introduce the electrifying musical extravaganza at the festival’s Chuck Jones Theater.
Smiling as he took the microphone, Williams offered “a word of warning” on what “may be a trigger warning for you all, especially the ladies.”
Pleading — begging even — for their understanding, he continued to caution that “there’s a word that comes up in this movie several times,” and begged to be allowed to explain “culturally” why the word is used in the film.
He explained that there are “70 million people in the U.K., there are 26 million Australians, there are five million Irish people. We all don...

The ventriloquist act that opens for Adam Sandler in his new special Love You is working hard to win over the crowd. “How’s he doing?” Sandler asks a world-weary guy operating the theater audio board.
“He’s doing good,” the guy croaks in unconvincing fashion.
A stray dog passes through the worn-down theater halls. Sandler looks to his entourage: “Who booked this place?”
As Sandler prepares to take the stage, he crosses paths with the ventriloquist and his dummy, wearing a cap with “Lester” bedazzled across the front. “Great audience,” says the puppetmaster.
“They made me feel real,” agrees Lester, the bespectacled puppet.
“Willie and Lester, you guys,” says Sandler. “This means a lot to me. The crowd loves you.”
While Willie Tyler and Lester might be unknowns to younger viewers of Sandler’s special, his admiration for the comic duo is genuine. The veteran ventriloquist act has been...

Alain Delon, one of the biggest international movie stars of all time, has passed away at 88. The actor, who’d been in poor health in recent years, is widely considered one of the most iconic French stars ever. First rising to fame as part of a new crop of actors during the French New Wave, Delon was the first person to play Patricia Highsmith’s Ripley in Purple Noon, while also starring in classics such as The Leopard, Rocco and His Sisters and many more.
Yet, it was his role as the cold, calculating hitman in Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samourai which remains the part he’s arguably best known for. Playing an impeccably dressed killer named Jeff, who is double-crossed by his employers, pretty much every hitman movie in the last fifty years owes a debt of gratitude to his performance. Deep in the forests of central France stands an oak tree, its boughs stretching up towards the sky after over two centuries of growth. It is around this ancient tree that the documentary Heart of an Oak observes the hidden lives and seasonal changes of the animals inhabiting its branches and roots. Directed by Laurent Charbonnier and Michel Seydoux, the film spends 18 months filming the myriad creatures that call this singular location home, from tiny insects to playful squirrels and birds.
Through patience, camerawork, and without the use of narration, the directors give viewers a glimpse into the intricate relationships and daily struggles that unfold both above and below the ground. In the tree’s crevices live families of mice raising their litters, while overhead jays zip between nests and robins court.
Less visible is the bustle of activity in the moist soil as beetles and bugs go about their work.

Mitzi McCall, the trailblazing comedian, actress and half of the comedy duo McCall and Brill, died Thursday in Burbank. She was 93.
Born on Sept. 9, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her comedic talents were evident early in life, leading to a distinguished career that spanned over seven decades. She emerged as a prominent voice in the male-dominated comedy world, paving the way for future generations of female comedians.
McCall’s legacy is perhaps most enduringly marked by her work with her husband, actor and comedian Charlie Brill, as part of the comedy duo “McCall and Brill.” The pair became television staples, gracing numerous variety shows, including a memorable appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” during The Beatles’ American debut in 1964 — a moment that has since become television history.
Mitzi’s career began in the late 1940s with a stage debut at the Pittsburgh Playhouse in “Strange Bedfellows” in 1948. In the early 1950s, she...

Nearly ten years after director George Miller returned to the post-apocalyptic wasteland and redefined the action genre with Mad Max: Fury Road, the Australian auteur returned to replace Charlize Theron with Anya Taylor Joy to tell the origin story of the warrior who helped Mad Max cross that fury road in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. And regardless of how underwhelming its box office may be, this high octane prequel will surely stand the test of time alongside the rest of the Mad Max saga, certainly more so than another follow-up from Warner Bros. to a car racing franchise way back in 1984, when the late great Burt Reynolds bid farewell to the formula comedy genre that made him a superstar alongside an all-star cast (Jackie Chan! Frank Sinatra! Tony Danza!) with Cannonball Run II.

With his dry wit & the unassuming charm of a next-door neighbor, the late actor donned the hat of a bewildered psychologist in his hit series, The Bob Newhart Show, framing a niche for himself. But his stammer, a stroke of serendipity, was the brick and mortar of an illustrious career.

It had once provoked the perfect riposte from a clueless TV producer, who failed to see the goldmine in Newhart’s stuttered gold. The latter defended his signature stutter, quipping that his stammer wasn’t merely an act, but rather the hammer with which he forged his palatial “Beverly Hills” house.

Bob Newhart, the iconic comedian and actor who launched a more than six-decade run in show business in 1960 with his introduction of a deadpan, stammering everyman character whose popularity he rode well into his 80’s with a Grammy-winning comedy album and a pair of beloved Emmy-nominated sitcoms, is dead. He was 94 and passed away at his home on Thursday following a short illness. His longtime publicist Jerry Digney announced his death in a press release.
Newhart burst on the scene in 1960 with his album “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart,” the first comedy album ever to top the Billboard charts. It won three Grammy Awards in ’61, including Album of the Year, Spoken-Word Comedy Album and New Artist. Newhart’s first two albums of comedy monologues (the second called “The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back!”) in fact held Billboard’s top two spots simultaneously, a rare feat.

Can you guess the celebrity relative? ABC’s Claim to Fame challenges participants – and viewers – to discover the identity of cast members’ famous kin.
Each contestant must use clues scattered around their shared house to ferret out other players’ star relatives. At the same time, they must keep their own identities a secret while also completing challenges that could win them immunity from elimination.
Past Claim to Fame participants have included KeKe Palmer’s sister Loreal Chanel Palmer, who won season 1, and Nick Cannon’s brother Gabriel Ezra Cannon, who bested the competition in season 2. Other contestants have included the sister of Olympian Simone Biles, Donny Osmond’s lookalike son, and – infamously – Tom Hanks’ niece.
So, what does it take to get cast on Claim to Fame? It turns out, just having a celebrity connection isn’t enough.

By the time I got to work with William Keck at TV Guide Magazine, his tabloid days were long behind him. Sort of. Always with a twinkle in his eye, Keck still knew a good story when he found one — even if it caused a bit of a stir with celebrities or (more likely) the publicists employed to shield them from dogged reporters like him.
At TV Guide, I got to watch first-hand as Keck dug into the on-set turmoil during the final seasons of “Desperate Housewives” and create some ire with his own eyewitness accounts. And then there was the time that Victoria Principal promised Will an exclusive about why she wouldn’t appear on the “Dallas” revival. There’s no bigger “Dallas” fan than Keck, and it was a hot scoop — which she then gave to a competitor instead. Will didn’t take it well, taking to social...
