John Landgraf isn’t interested in making any grandiose proclamations about the future of television. The FX chairman has already tried more than once to predict when “peak TV,” a phrase he famously coined to address the great content flood, would, in fact, peak, and he insists he won’t be doing so publicly again.

We’re sharing a booth at Beverly Hills’ Nerano restaurant, the popular Italian eatery where he suggested we meet in early October. I’d selected him to be the subject of my first “Table for Two” column, in part because in his nearly two decades atop FX, he has garnered a reputation for being the unofficial mayor of television, often using media opportunities to pontificate on the state of the industry. But Landgraf, whose FX network group was absorbed by Disney in 2019, suggests he’s been more interested in listening of late.

If this were a typical year, by this point on Monday the winners would be known and their Emmys would be en route to shelves and safes across town. But since 2022’s calendar is decidedly not normal, and the Primetime Emmy Awards are still hours away, the Motion Picture & Television Fund had the honor of closing out the weekend with its 16th annual Evening Before the Emmys fundraiser in Los Angeles.

Mixing things up proved to be historic for the organization, as it raised a record-setting 3 million to support the 100-year-old nonprofit. “Ghosted” has been canceled at Fox after one season, Variety has confirmed.

The single-camera freshman comedy premiered in fall 2017. It starred Craig Robinson and Adam Scott as “polar opposite” partners hunting down the paranormal.

The series, which was created by Tom Gormican, also starred Ally Walker, Adeel Akhtar and Amber Stevens West. Gormican executive produced, alongside Robinson, Scott, Kevin Etten, Naomi Scott, Mark Schuman and Oly Obst. “Ghosted” was produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

The show was never able to gain much traction in the ratings, with the first season averaging a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers in Live+Same Day. Fox had picked it up for an additional six episodes on top of its original 10 episode order and brought on “The Office” alum Paul Lieberstein to take over as showrunner from Etten in order retool it as more of a workplace comedy. The Adam Scott and Craig Robinson-led comedy from creator Tom Gormican has been canceled by the broadcast network, less than a week after airing its first season finale — which will now be its last.

An individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap that, while the network was “proud of the show,” the addition of “Thursday Night Football,” as well as new comedies on Fridays and Sundays, and the large amount of returning shows next season, Fox’s schedule couldn’t accommodate a second season of “Ghosted.” However, a few unaired episodes from the first season may still become available for viewing at a later date.

It’s official: Fox will have a clean live-action comedy slate next season with no returning series. The network has formally canceled Ghosted, its last remaining series that was still awaiting word on renewal.

Ghosted‘s cancellation had been considered a foregone conclusion but Fox postponed the decision until after the comedy returned for the remainder of its freshman season earlier this month. With the options on the cast expiring this coming weekend, the network was prompted to act.

Described as a comedic X-Files, Ghosted, starring Adam Scott and Craig Robinson, had an Ok ratings start in its October 1 premiere as a lead-out from The Simpsons but quickly lost steam. In late November, though, Fox ordered six more episodes of the paranormal action comedy and brought in Robinson’s former The Office co-star/Ep Paul Lieberstein as new showrunner to oversee a creative shift toward grounding the show as more of a workplace comedy.

Fox has decided to release some of the remaining episodes of their Ghosted comedy series. The Adam Scott-Craig Robinson comedy — which last aired on Fox all the way back in January — will resume Season 1 on Sunday, June 10, with new episodes airing at 8:30 and 9:30 pm. The show will then air Sundays at 9:30 pm through June 24. (No word yet on when the show’s remaining three episodes will be broadcast.)

What’s more, a Fox rep maintains to TVLine that the freshman sitcom has not been cancelled — nor has it been renewed — despite being long-presumed dead.

Is “Ghosted” coming back?

That’s a question on viewers’ minds as upfronts week comes to a close, with Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS and The CW all having announced their fall programming schedules as of Thursday. ‘Cause some of those slates have holes in them, meaning the statuses of almost half a dozen shows on broadcast television are still up in the air.

Look, we can accept the fact that not every series will be saved like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” — not every show should be. But come on, networks — minus ABC and The CW, who have already killed or renewed everything they’re going to — fans need to hear one way or another whether their favorite programs will be returning this fall, especially for ones that have a crazy-devoted fanbase.

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for 20th Century Fox Television. While it's not cancelled, fans aren't going to be able to watch the Ghosted TV show on Fox for some time. The network has removed its new, supernatural series from the schedule, in order to make room for Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 5B. World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race and Million Dollar Listing, announced today that they are boycotting FedEx after they refused to cut ties with the National Rifle Association in the wake of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.

In a statement provided to Time FedEx said that they have “never set or changed rates for any of our millions of customers around the world in response to their politics, beliefs or positions on issues.” That said, FedEx offers members of the NRA up to a 26% discount.

Co-Founder of World of Wonder, Randy Barbato said in a statement sent to Deadline: “We support the call to boycott the NRA by no longer using FedEx for our company’s shipping needs. We salute the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. We are inspired by their leadership and are committed to their safety!

Where cancellation and renewal chances are concerned, there are signs that the Ghosted TV show could be renewed for season two on Fox. The network has ordered an additional six episodes, bringing the first season episode count up to 16. On top of that, executive producer Kevin Etten is exiting the supernatural sitcom. Paul Lieberstein, a veteran of NBC's The Office has been named a new Ep and will take the reins as showrunner for the final six episodes of the freshman installment. Fox’s new supernatural comedy, Ghosted, aired its first episode this past weekend and I have some good things and some not so good things to say about it. It definitely had some bright spots but it also seemed like there was something missing from the pilot episode. Hear me out or should I say read me out?

The series stars Adam Scott (Big Little Lies, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later) and Craig Robinson (This is the End, Hot Tub Time Machine) as former professor Max Jennifer and former detective Leroy Wright. The two are brought into the Bureau Underground, a secret government agency that specializes in paranormal and supernatural occurrences, to solve the mystery of an agent that has gone missing.

Overall, the casting is great. You have Adam Scott and Craig Robinson who make a great duo to center just about any type of comedy around.

An “X-Files”-style comedy? It’s not too good to be true, and it will be shooting in Los Angeles! “Ghosted,” which stars “Parks & Recreation” favorite Adam Scott and perpetual scene-stealer Craig Robinson, has received a series order from Fox. One of this past pilot season’s hottest commodities, the single-camera project comes courtesy of writer Tom Gormican (“That Awkward Moment”), and will depict Scott as a “true believer” of the paranormal and Robinson, his skeptical counterpart, recruited by the Bureau Underground to investigate “unexplained” events happening in L.A., which may pose a threat to the human race. Last August, we reported about a new comedy series called Ghosted being developed by Fox that would star Adam Scott and Craig Robinson. Well, things have been going well for the production and a new trailer has just been released.

While I love the actors and still look forward to the show, it seems a bit stale from the trailer. There are a few funny moments, but the trailer almost seemed like everyone was a bit tired. A lot rides on the two main characters, who I love. Adam Scott is one of my favorite actors in Hollywood and Craig Robinson is a strong comedic actor, but neither really seems to bring the power that I'm looking for in a series of this caliber.
