The 2023–2024 TV season was certainly an odd one. With the writers strike and then the actors strike throughout the summer and fall of 2023, it made it much harder to get our favorite shows back. Most of them were held for the midseason, but others were able to get fall slots.

You would think that the fall slots would allow for a success. Sadly, that wasn’t the case for one series in particular. Meanwhile, another was canceled even before the strike action started, but didn’t officially end until 2024.

With The Good Doctor season 7 ending deemed a success, it's a shame that one character's death made it impossible for an encore during the series finale. Had they appeared, they would have elevated the episode.

Sometimes, shows kill off beloved characters to open up new storytelling opportunities. Sadly, this death screamed shock value, as it was part of one of The Good Doctor's most unbelievable storylines.

The shocking scenes played out after the doctor helped at a patient’s wedding and found individuals vandalizing a synagogue.

Asher tried to diffuse the situation by telling the group to leave, and just when it seemed like they were gone, they returned to attack the doctor and left him for dead.

The decision to write out such a huge character at the midway point of the final season is certainly a choice.

At the time of the heinous attack, Asher’s boyfriend, Jerome (Giacomo Baessato), was awaiting his return and planned to propose to him.

Instead, the final season of the time-traveling sci-fi drama begins with Gavin (Eoin Macken) experiencing a pleasant memory before being snapped back into the reality of life in 10,0000 BC.

The Good Doctor Season 7 premieres on Tuesday, February 20 at 10/9c on ABC. Modu’s Jared was part of The Good Doctor Season 1 cast. He worked under Dr. Neil Melendez (Nicholas Edward Gonzalez), who died in an earthquake in the Season 3 finale. Jared briefly dated Dr. Claire Brown (Antonia Thomas) in Season 1 and was written out after the Season 2 premiere.
