We all have specific go-to favorites we have seen many times over but never seem to get sick of watching.

Certain technological advancements didn't exist when classic TV shows were produced, such as the ability to pause, rewind, or record episodes.

Those advancements have since changed how we can view our favorite classic shows.

While binge-watching is not always great for enjoying modern programs, it is another advancement that can offer new insights into classic shows that are fun to explore.

One of Greer’s early acting roles was in the 1939 movie Jesse James. In 1950, he appeared in two episodes of the TV series Dick Tracy. Two years later, he appeared in an episode of The Lone Ranger.

From 1950 to 1954, Greer starred in 14 episodes of Fireside Theatre. He was also a series regular on the show Hank from 1965 to 1966. He played Coach Ossie Weiss for 26 episodes. Greer’s star continued to rise when he appeared in Gunsmoke. He was in 42 episodes from 1956 to 1974.

It’s time for a new episode of our Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, and in this one we’re looking back at the 1992 mess that’s known as House IV (get it Here). Cary Grant and co-star/missus Betsy Drake do honor to the ‘family picture’ genre — with a filmic boost to child foster programs that offers a positive message, avoids most clichés and generates some sly fun too. What we see resembles real life, even if Cary Grant should never be shown washing dishes. Betsy Drake’s take-charge mother sets family policy as she opts to take in first one and then two foster children. It’s also the film debut of little George Winslow, before he picked up the ‘Foghorn’ nickname. Plus there’s a cute dog and some kittens that offer a sex education lesson. The recent biography of Cary Grant should renew interest in this entertaining and socially admirable show. It’s warm & fuzzy yet not at all saccharine.

Another day, another reboot announcement.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Little House on the Prairie is getting the update treatment.

A reboot is officially in development on a one-hour drama that would be based on Laura Wilder's beloved novels.

The new series would be co-produced by Paramount TV Studios, Anonymous Content, and Friendly Family Productions.

Details are scarce at this early stage, which is not uncommon for a project this early into development.

The book series was previously adapted into a TV series for NBC and starred Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert.

It was a roaring success and aired from 1974-83, having tremendous staying power.

TV movies followed the end of the original series, while ABC aired a miniseries based on the books in 2005.

The original series centered around the Ingalls Family, who live on a small farm near the village of Walnut Grove, Minn., in the late 1800s.

A reboot of “Little House on the Prairie” is in the works at Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content, TheWrap has learned.

The one-hour drama would be based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic “Little House” novels and would be co-produced by Paramount TV Studios, Anonymous Content and Friendly Family Productions. There’s no word yet on the creative team or talent that would be attached to the “Little House on the Prairie” reboot.

The book series was previously adapted into an NBC show starring Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert, which ran for nine seasons between 1974 and 1983.

The original “Little House on the Prairie,” also produced by Friendly Family Productions, centered around the Ingalls Family, who live on a small farm near the village of Walnut Grove, Minn., in the 1870s, 1880s and 1890s. The show primarily focused on Gilbert’s character, Laura, as the “Little House” novels were an autobiographical work by Wilder.

I long ago gave up keeping track of all the aberrant vampire movies that were produced after horror became a direct-to-video staple and finally a streaming staple.

For many people, Alien (1979) is the yardstick by which all “creature on a spaceship” films are measured. However, the first few inches on that stick are occupied by It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958), an effective low budget shocker that helped write the template still used in sci-fi and horror today. Climb aboard for a 69 minute rocket ride to Mars and back with an unwanted passenger. And no, I don’t mean (insert name or political affiliate you hate here).

Released in August stateside by United Artists, with a November drop in the U.K., It! was mostly dismissed by critics, with the exception of Variety who said, “It’s old stuff, with only a slight twist.” In the B world, that’s as close to a rave as one might get from the mainstream media, and that’s fine; audiences enjoyed the straightforward thrills and somewhat unique concept offered up,...

Horror in the ‘50s tended to lean towards the sci-fi end of the spectrum. And why wouldn’t it? This was the atomic age, and hiding under your school desk during a bomb drill (the safest place to be!) was scarier than any monster Hollywood could muster. So as a form of social moralizing (or an excuse to display giant, mutated lizards on screen), filmmakers merged the fear of nuclear annihilation with the need for entertainment. Most filmmakers, that is. Paul Landres’ The Vampire (1957) is a deliberate ride through the (mostly) human condition, small in scope but surprisingly big on emotion. Just don’t expect any vampires, radioactive, sparkly, or otherwise.

What you do get is a story much closer to Stevenson than Stoker, a simple riff on Jekyll and Hyde shot through a cautionary tale about America’s then growing concern with pill poppin’. The Vampire is more concerned...

Burt Reynolds, one of We Are Movie Geeks favorite actors, turns 80 today. Happy Birthday Burt!

On February 11th, 1936, Reynolds was born in Waycross, Georgia, before his family moved to Jupiter Florida, where his father served as Chief of Police. Young Burt excelled at sports and played football at Florida State University. He became an All Star Southern Conference halfback (and was earmarked by the Baltimore Colts) before injuries sidelined his football career. He dropped out of college and headed to New York with dreams of becoming an actor. There he worked in restaurants and clubs while pulling the odd TV job or theater role. Burt was spotted in a New York City stage production of Mister Roberts and signed to a TV contract and eventually had recurring roles in such shows as Gunsmoke (1955), Riverboat (1959) and his own series, Hawk...

Milton Caniff’s Steve Canyon (1947-1988) was one of the most celebrated adventure comic strips of the 1950s. The blond, square-jawed hero was on the cutting edge of action as he took to the skies and had adventures around the world. Caniff populated the strip with memorable supporting characters and adversaries so it was a rich reading experience.

The strip was so popular that when Captain Action was introduced in 1966, Canyon was one of the first heroes he could turn into. Somewhat earlier, Canyon also served as inspiration for an NBC prime time series that, sadly, bore little resemblance to the strip (a common problem back then).

No one was sure, when "The Green Mile" was released 15 years ago this week (on December 10, 1999), whether lightning could strike twice in the same spot for Frank Darabont. Sure, the writer/director's first Stephen King prison drama, 1994's "The Shawshank Redemption," had gone from commercial failure to beloved classic in five years. But another King prison tale, one that was three hours long and featured some horrific electric-chair executions, bizarre fantasy elements, and a trained mouse?

As it turned out, of course, "Green Mile" became a huge hit, earned four Oscar nominations, put another feather in star Tom Hanks's cap, and made a star of Michael Clarke Duncan, who played miracle-working, self-sacrificing inmate John Coffey. White Lightning from 1973 is my favorite Burt Reynolds flick. Sure, Deliverance and Boogie Nights may be better movies, but White Lightning is the film that best showcases that special Burt magic. I saw it at the theater at least twice when it was new and it was a TV perennial for a while but a couple years back, I got the hankering to watch White Lightning again and was disappointed to find it had never had a DVD release. Now Kino-Lorber has rectified that with a fantastic new Blu-ray release – but with one major caveat.

House of Wax from 1953 has the distinction of being one of the first color 3D films released by a major studio. In the new 60th Anniversary Blu-Ray from Warner Brothers, you can watch the film in its original format; if, that is, you happen to be in possession of a 3D television and Blu-Ray player. Even without the benefit of 3D, House of Wax is a enjoyable and lurid slice of 1950s cinema, featuring Vincent Price and numerous severed heads.

Price is Professor Henry Jarrod, a brilliant wax sculptor who’s a bit too attached to some of his creations. He’s a decent person, though, right up until his wax museum partner Matthew Burke (Roy Roberts) burns down the exhibit for the insurance money, trapping Jarrod and his creations. With the 3D movie craze in full swing, it’s only fitting that Warner Bros. is looking to release one of the first feature length films shot in stereoscopic 3D as a 3D Blu-ray. 1953′s House of Wax will be available in Q3 2013, according to Blu-ray.com. At this time, no bonus features or additional release details have been announced, but we’re hoping that the movie will be available as a standard Blu-ray as well.

The movie stars Vincent Price as “Professor Henry Jarrod (Price), is a true artist whose wax sculptures are lifelike. He specializes in historical tableau’s such a Marie Antoinette or Joan of Arc. Director Don Siegel’s low-budget 1957 crime drama Baby Face Nelson is a fast -paced portrait of a cold-blooded, trigger-happy sociopath with a memorable mad-dog performance by Mickey Rooney in the title role and is a film that deserves to be rediscovered.

Baby Face Nelson (real name Lester Gillis) was a petty thief who gained much celebrity (and a spot on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list) when he joined John Dillinger’s gang in 1933. Baby Face Nelson opens with Nelson being approached to kill a union boss. He refuses, is framed for the murder anyway, sent to jail, escapes, and gets bloody revenge on the men who framed him. One of the most beloved series of the 1970s and 80s was Little House of the Prairie. Each week, millions of families tuned in to see the citizens of Walnut Grove survive some new frontier disaster or hardship. Well, in Finland, it turns out that the show is considered to be suitable for "adults-only."

Little House of the Prairie debuted on NBC on September 11, 1974. Based on the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder, the TV show centers around a hard-working frontier family; Charles (Michael Landon) and Caroline (Karen Grassle) Ingalls and their three girls -- Mary (Melissa Sue Anderson), Laura (Melissa Gilbert), and Carrie (Sidney and Lindsay Greenbush). Other memorable characters include Doc Baker (Kevin Hagen), Reverend Alden (Dabbs Greer) and the Oleson family (Richard Bull, Scottie MacGregor, Alison Arngrim, and Jonathan Gilbert), owners of the local mercantile.

Born Robert William Greer in 1917, he began acting at the age of eight. Greer was best known for his role as the gentle and wise Reverend Alden on NBC's Little House on the Prairie from 1974 - 1984.
