Jenna Ortega is back as the Addams family’s death-loving daughter.
In a new photo from Season 2 of “Wednesday,” Ortega is seen frowning her and crossing her arms against a spooky outdoor backdrop — potentially a cemetery — with a gothic gate and two robed statues carrying lanterns behind her. This is the first photo from the Netflix series’ second season, though the streamer previously released a behind-the-scenes clip. Netflix released the photo just after production on Season 2 wrapped in Ireland. The season is set to premiere in 2025.
“Wednesday” follows the titular character’s journey at Nevermore Academy, where her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luiz Guzmán) first met 25 years ago. In Season 1, Wednesday worked to master her emerging psychic abilities while tracking down a monster terrorizing the local town.
Along with Ortega, Zeta-Jones and Guzmán, the Season 2 cast includes Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer,...

“Fingernails,” starring Jesse Buckley, Riz Ahmed and Jeremy Allen White, is to close the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. The tender and idiosyncratic romantic drama, co-produced by Cate Blanchett, is the sophomore outing from director Christos Nikou, who made a splash with his debut “Apples.”
The film centers on the Love Institute, a scientific organization that tests the mutual compatibility of people who have decided to embark on life’s journey together. It is here of all places that the incurable romantic Anna finds a job, temporarily mentored by the thoughtful and sympathetic Amir.
“After being in the jury of Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 2021 and having the chance to present my first feature ‘Apples’ to the Czech audience, I am so excited and grateful to return to a festival and a city that feel like home. He joined the Addams family that also included star Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), as well as Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

Netflix is looking to build a franchise around its reigning most popular series. A Wednesday spinoff revolving around Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester character is in early development at the streamer from MGM Television, Deadline has confirmed.
Conversations about the offshoot are happening alongside preparations for Season 2 of Wednesday — a new take of The Addams Family starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams — which became a ratings and pop culture phenomenon when it launched in November 2022. The horror comedy ranks as Netflix’s most popular English-language series with 252.1M views, almost doubling the next most popular TV season on the streamer.
Armisen guest starred in one episode of Wednesday‘s first season in a memorable appearance as Uncle Fester, brother of Wednesday’s father Gomez Addams (Luis Guzman), who used his ability to generate electricity to revive Thing.

Netflix is looking to add another branch to its Addams Family tree.
The streamer is in the early stages of development on a spinoff of Wednesday. The potential series would focus on Uncle Fester, Wednesday’s (Jenna Ortega) paternal uncle, played by Fred Armisen.
That a spinoff would be in the offing is no surprise, given the runaway success of Wednesday, which premiered in November 2022 and became Netflix’s biggest series to date in terms of streaming “views” (calculated by dividing a movie or show’s total viewing time by its running time). It was renewed for a second season in January.
Amazon MGM Studios, which produces the series and owns rights to the characters, is fully on board as well, per Bloomberg (which first reported development of the spinoff).

Exclusive: Netflix’s reigning most popular series, Wednesday, is headed to a new locale. The upcoming second season of the Addams Family offshoot will be filmed in Ireland, sources tell Deadline. Details are still being firmed up, but I hear start of production is tentatively slated for late April.
Season 1 of Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega in the title role, was shot in Romania from September 2021-March 2022. Following the massive global success of the coming-of-age horror comedy, which was released in November 2022, the Wednesday sets became a major attraction, giving Romania a TV tourism boost.
Still, the Balkan location presented logistical challenges, with speculation starting soon after production had wrapped that, if the series would go to a second season, it might film elsewhere. Some people say love is a battlefield, but what if there was a scientific solution to determining your compatibility with your chosen partner? Would the results confirm your evolution from lust to emotional adoration? Could you discover if the person you’re with is better suited for someone else? Some people would prefer to remain in blissful ignorance, but in Apple TV+‘s Fingernails trailer, love gets tested, and the results could destroy even the strongest of bonds.
Christos Nikou directs Fingernails from a script he co-wrote with Stavros Raptis and Sam Steiner. The story focuses on Anna (Jessie Buckley) and Ryan (Jeremy Allen White), a couple who believe they’ve found true love, and a controversial new technology proves it. There’s just one problem. Anna is curious to know if the results are accurate. So, she takes a position at a love testing institute, where she meets Amir (Riz Ahmed), and sparks fly.

Christos Nikou’s “Fingernails” challenges the role of technology in modern love stories, with Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed starring as co-workers at a company that specializes in determining people’s soulmates based on their (you’re hearing this right) fingernails. Luke Wilson plays Duncan, who heads up the Love Insitute. Anna declares she wants to work at the Institute because “Ginger Spice” studied there. She finds herself mentored by Amir, played by Ahmed. And the more time she spends around Amir and at the lab, she finds herself asking him, and herself “Is it possible that one person could be in love with two people at the same time?”

Forget reading palms: What if the key to finding your soulmate was at the tip of your fingernail?
Director Christos Nikou’s (“Apples”) feature “Fingernails” offers a sci-fi love triangle rooted in nature over nurture. The film is co-written by Nikou, Stavros Raptis, and Sam Steiner, and is set in an alternate reality where a machine can determine whether a couple is in love or not by studying the makeup of their discarded fingernails.
Jessie Buckley stars as Anna, a new employee at the institute where the machines are housed. She starts training with senior instructor Amir (Riz Ahmed). Yet Anna is already dating Ryan (Jeremy Allen White) and the machine has confirmed they are a perfect match. So why is she developing feelings for Amir?

The Jenna Ortega-starrer web-series ‘Wednesday’ has been renewed for Season 2, on Netflix. The eight-episode first season of the series centred on the titular ‘Addams Family’ character, originally debuted on November 23, reports Variety.

Since then, the show has grown to become the second biggest English language season of television on Netflix with over 1.2 billion hours viewed within its first 28 days, among other streaming series records.
Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday Addams in the horror comedy series. Per the official first season description, the show centres on Wednesday’s “years as a student at Nevermore Academy.”

Reports of the death of “Wednesday” at Netflix have been greatly exaggerated. Just days after the spread of rumors that the “Addams Family” teen series might leave the streamer for its rival, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix finally gave a second season renewal to the series January 6, confirming that it would air “Only on Netflix.”
“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said in a statement to Netflix’s official fandom website Tudum. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

This just in from the No Duh desk: Netflix has ordered a second season of Wednesday.
The Jenna Ortega-starrer from MGM Television crossed the 1B hours viewed mark – only the third show to do that on Netflix – in less than a month and overtook Dahmer to become the second most-watched U.S. show behind season four of Stranger Things.
For the remaining few who haven’t watched, Wednesday offers a new take on The Addams Family — the classic cartoon strip that was created by Charles Addams which ultimately became a ’60s sitcom and a ’90s feature film. Wednesday ranks No. 2 on the most popular (English) TV list with 1.237 billion hours viewed within its first 28 days.
What’s most unique about the series is how one of Netflix’s biggest rivals, Amazon, is responsible for the series after it closed a 8.5B deal to buy MGM. MGM TV has since...

Who had Amazon supplying one of Netflix’s biggest original series on their 2022 bingo card?
The Jeff Bezos-owned company, after closing its 8.5B deal to buy MGM, is now responsible for Wednesday, which has quickly become its rival’s second biggest English-language series.
The Jenna Ortega-fronted show crossed the 1B hours viewed mark – only the third show to do that – in less than a month and overtook Dahmer to become the second most-watched U.S. show behind season four of Stranger Things.
A renewal is thought to be inevitable, although sources expect that will come in the new year rather than before the end of the year. Producers are starting to talk to writers about joining the second season’s writers’ room and mulling season two locations, and even though MGM has been restructured into Amazon Studios, under Jen Salke, no one expects that to derail future seasons.

In “Woe is the Night,” the fourth episode of Netflix’s latest smash-hit series “Wednesday,” star Jenna Ortega birthed the latest dance craze with a scene in which she boogies down to “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps. But while the scene has since gone viral on TikTok, filming it was a terrible experience for Ortega, who tested positive for Covid almost immediately afterwards.
In an interview with NME released ahead of the whole sensation, Ortega said that she woke up the day the scene was filmed feeling extremely sick. Production had her shoot the dance while awaiting her Covid results.
“It’s crazy because it was my first day with Covid so it was awful to film,” Ortega said. “I woke up and – it’s weird, I never get sick, and when I do, it’s not very bad – I had the body aches. I felt like I’d...

Netflix’s official trailer for upcoming comedy horror series “Wednesday” has been unveiled at New York Comic Con, with comedian Fred Armisen revealed as the bald and extremely pale Uncle Fester. On top of that, the trailer unveiled Christina Ricci’s role in the series, which has been shrouded in secrecy since it was announced in March. Ricci played Wednesday Addams in Barry Sonnenfeld’s two Addams family films, 1991’s “The Addams Family” and 1993’s “Addams Family Values.” In “Wednesday,” Ricci plays a teacher at Nevermore Academy, where Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) has started as a student, and where she will hone her psychic abilities.
As for Armisen’s surprise casting, in the new trailer, Wednesday is pleasantly surprised when a supposed threat reveals himself to be her Uncle Fester, and the two ride off in a Dalmatian-patterned motorcycle with a sidecar. (Christopher Lloyd famously played the role of Uncle Fester the ’90s movies.

Netflix is kicking up the publicity campaign for Wednesday, The Addams Family spinoff premiering sometime this fall, with an invitation to join the titular character at Nevermore Academy. The fictitious school’s official website greets visitors with a quiz to make sure the school’s the right fit, with questions including how you feel about fitting in and whether your peers understand you.
The Nevermore Academy application breaks from the norm by asking which outcast group you identify with: vampire, gorgon, werewolf, or siren. Or, if none of those fit, you can select “I can’t describe it.” For the purpose of writing this piece, I chose vampire. That led to a question about the academic area I’m interested in and I picked supernatural studies.

The streamer also confirmed that the show will hit the air in the fall.
"The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy," the logline teases.
"There, she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore," the logline adds.
Eight episodes have been ordered, meaning we'll be getting a tightly-woven mystery that will be the perfect binge.
The trailer is as dark as you'd expect, with Wednesday's thirst for blood on full display.
The youngster goes as far as setting piranhas free in a pool, which doesn't end well for her targets.

Wednesday Addams takes a stab at being social in Netflix’s first trailer for the Tim Burton-directed Addams Family series based on the character.
In the two-minute teaser for Wednesday, the raven-haired teen (played by Jenna Ortega) attempts to adjust to her new school, Nevermore — the very same one her parents went to — after a bullying incident with her brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) prompted Wednesday to sic piranhas on the water polo team.
Described by her father Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) as a “magical place,” Nevermore offers Wednesday the promise of a community of people who will understand her, along with the possibility of making real friends.
“Little did I know I’d be stepping into a nightmare — full of mystery, mayhem and murder,” Ortega’s Wednesday says, amid a confetti-filled montage (including some Easter eggs) that ends in blood.

As Deadline revealed exclusively in April, the upcoming third season will be the supernatural thriller series’ last. Netflix also released a teaser trailer that gives a first look at Locke & Key‘s final chapter.

Netflix’s “Locke and Key” will end after its upcoming third season, Variety has confirmed.
Based on the comic books of the same name, “Locke and Key” follows the three Locke children who, following their father’s death, move from Seattle to his family home in Massachusetts. They soon discover magical keys hidden throughout the house — appropriately called Keyhouse — that can be used to unlock secret doors. However, a demonic presence is in search of the keys as well. Season 3 of the fantasy horror series is set to release on the streamer this year.
Co-showrunners and executive producers Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said in a statement: “Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion. As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell...

Exclusive: The upcoming third season of Netflix’s Locke & Key will be its last. But fans of the supernatural thriller based on the Idw comic books by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodríguez should not fret — they will get a proper conclusion since Season 3 was conceived as the show’s final chapter. In fact, I hear that, following the breakout success of Locke & Key‘s ten-episode first season, Netflix approached the series’ creative team with a plan for a three-season run consisting of a 10-episode second season and an eight-episode third season. That fit the vision of Locke & Key executive producers/co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill for how to tell the story and when to wrap it.
