Valentine’s Day is finally here, and Netflix has the perfect films to watch on this romantic day with your significant other. Hit Man is a romantic crime comedy film directed by Richard Linklater, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Glen Powell. The 2023 film follows Gary Johnson, a mild-mannered psychology and philosophy professor who moonlights as a pretend hitman for the police to catch the people trying to hire him. When he meets a beautiful woman who wants to hire him to kill her abusive husband, his life completely changes.

The Batman was released in 2022 and, by the time The Batman Part II arrives in theaters, roughly five and a half years will have passed since we first met Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight.

That's a long wait for a sequel and the movie will also have competition from whatever DC Studios dreams up for the Dcu's Batman (who may or may not debut in Clayface next September).

There’s a lot of pressure involved in trying to follow a trilogy as acclaimed and accomplished as the Andy Serkis-led “Planet of the Apes” saga, which culminated with 2017’s “War for the Planet of the Apes.” For “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” director Wes Ball, actor Owen Teague, animation supervisor Paul Story and visual effects supervisor Erik Winquist, making their blockbuster sequel involved a lot of both looking behind and ahead of them as they pushed the visual effects of the franchise even further.

This led to speculation that Reeves may not have settled on which direction to take the sequel, but it sounds like the filmmaker has now, at the very least, cracked the overall story.

During an appearance at Orlando's fan convention MegaCon last Sunday (via Youtube channel Love Our Life), Alfred Pennyworth actor Andy Serkis revealed that Reeves filled him in on what The Batman sequel will focus on.

"I am as hungry for it as you all are," Serkis said.

A sequel to ‘The Batman’ was officially announced at CinemaCon in April 2022, with Robert Pattinson and director Matt Reeves returning. By August, Mattson Tomlin had joined as co-writer, and the film was initially titled ‘The Batman – Part II’ in early 2023.

However, by late 2024, the title was dropped as Reeves continued working on the script. Key cast members, including Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as Penguin, are set to reprise their roles.

So far, the movie has been delayed 2 times in total and is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves gave us an update on the script a few months ago, saying it’s still not finished but filming is expected to start in late 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England.

Believe it or not, there was an Oscar buzz around Andy Serkis’ Gollum role in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Serkis played the voice and motion capture for the role. Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” sparked controversy over the weekend after it became more widely known that AI was used during postproduction for enhancing stars Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones’ Hungarian language dialogue. Kraven the Hunter was one of Sony Pictures' biggest Marvel disasters to date. The movie flopped with critics and filmgoers, grossing significantly less than even Madame Web at the worldwide box office.

He has written, in his own way, and directed, films for screens both big and small, which have been massively acclaimed and influential, for more than a half-century. Among them: 1976’s Nuts in May, 1977’s Abigail’s Party, 1980’s Grown-Ups, 1983’s Meantime, 1993’s Naked, 1996’s Secrets & Lies, 2004’s Vera Drake, 2008’s Happy-Go-Lucky and, most recently, 2024’s Hard Truths.

Leigh’s films have won the top prizes of both the Cannes and Venice film festivals, something no other Brit has ever been able to claim. He personally was awarded an OBE in 1993, BAFTA’s Michael Balcon lifetime achievement award in 1996 and a BAFTA fellowship in 2014. And he has been nominated for seven Oscars.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, Moss-Bachrach was asked if he says, “It’s clobberin’ time” at some point in the film. “I slipped it in there a couple times,” Moss-Bachrach said. “We’ll see what happens. I don’t have final cut on this one.“

The Thing will be brought to life through motion-capture in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and the actor even got some help from the godfather of motion-capture performance, Andy Serkis. “I have seen a very crude rendering, because it takes a while to build this stuff,” Moss-Bachrach said. “They’ve got lots of animators working on this. I wore a motion-capture suit, two cameras right here and so they’re capturing absolutely everything, every nuance in my eye.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! yesterday evening, the actor was asked by the host how well he got on with Robert Downey Jr. on the set of the Marvel Studios movie. "Uh, yeah, we lived together [Laughs]," Moss-Bachrach joked. "He asked me to move in with him."

The host then pushed for further details, wondering whether Downey's Doctor Doom appears either in the movie itself or a post-credits scene. The actor, clearly being careful not to give anything away, replied, "It's not gonna happen. I've been through rigorous media training."

The Lord of the Rings gets a Christmas twist in a new music video, which features Gollum attempting to secure his Precious during the holiday season. Based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Jackson first brought the world of Middle-earth to life in 2001, with his trilogy ultimately concluding in 2003. Gollum plays a large role in the second and third films, leading Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) through Mordor to Mount Doom, though he eventually gives in to his desire for the One Ring.

Brendan Dalton now puts Gollum front and center in a new Lord of the Rings music video called "Gollum's Christmas." The video, which is presented in claymation, features Gollum enjoying a very Merry Christmas with the One Ring, often appearing alongside Frodo and Sam in a version of Middle-earth that's been decked out for the holidays. Just because it's Christmas, though, doesn't mean Gollum is being any less mischievous.

Following the release of Kraven the Hunter, Sony's Spider-Man Universe as we know it is coming to an end, which leaves many questions unanswered and loose ends unexplored. Originally planned to be connected to Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man duology, the Ssu became its own entity with the release of 2018's Venom. Despite its name, Sony's Marvel movie franchise featured some of Spider-Man's greatest villains from Marvel Comics, but not the wall-crawler himself, who was instead introduced to the MCU, but this may have contributed to the franchise's downfall.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is the latest entry in the celebrated and hugely popular Lord of the Rings series of films, and it tells the story of Helm Hammerhand defending the kingdom of Rohan from an army of Dunlendings. War of the Rohirrim reviews were split, though there weren't many ardent defenders of the film, as its box office failings became apparent throughout its first weekend in theaters. Personally, I think the film is solid enough, but its release does have me worried about the upcoming plans for the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Since the rights to The Lord of the Rings franchise were sold a few years ago, the number of releases in the series has been steadily increasing, from video games, to TV shows, with an influx of new feature films that are set to be released, and unfortunately, War of...

Well, that was fast. New Line Cinema’s anime feature The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, which opened on Dec. 13 to a very low $4.5M, will be available on digital in home on Dec. 27, repping a 14-day theatrical window.

War of the Rohirrim will be available on all participating digital platforms including Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Fandango at Home, and more. Note, just because the movie is available in home, doesn’t mean it won’t continue to play in theaters. That said, there’s a competition this Christmas with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Mufasa, Wicked and Moana 2, and it will be very hard to hold screens on a movie that didn’t perform well.
