Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata in ‘High Potential’ episode 10 (Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)
The murder-of-the-week at the center of ABC’s High Potential episode 10, “Chutes and Murders,” is introduced when two little girls literally collide with a dead body. A playground slide turns into a murder scene when the girls find their passage blocked by a corpse.
Nannies reveal the dead woman is Tara Foley, also a nanny who frequents the park. The medical examiner tells the detectives a heavy blow to the head killed her. Her attacker hit Tara nearby, and then she crawled into the slide to escape. She died around 10pm, and unfortunately, there aren’t any CCTV cameras nearby.
The nannies reveal a weird guy had been hanging around the park, and he seemed interested in Tara.
Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) has been quiet during all this, but Tara’s dinging phone is driving her crazy. She puts...

Just when we were starting to lose hope in the executives over at ABC, they came through with news that Morgan Gillory and High Potential aren’t going anywhere.
That’s right, you didn’t read that wrong. The ABC smash hit will return for more brain-boggling cases that only Kaitlin Olson can crack.
Fans of High Potential are likely jumping for joy as the series has been killing it without a single mention of renewal.
(Disney/Pamela Littky)
Luckily, we can all stop pretending like we didn’t know this show was going to get the green light for more.
That isn’t big talk either because, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, “ABC says the pilot episode’s audience has grown to more than 30 million in the four months since it debuted.”

ABC has handed an early Season 2 renewal to its breakout new crime drama High Potential. The light procedural starring Kaitlin Olson joins ABC’s flagship comedy Abbott Elementary in securing a spot on the network’s 2025-26 schedule. High Potential also joins the other standout 2024-25 freshman drama, CBS’ Matlock, in landing an early Season 2 renewal. Both were series originally ordered for last season but delayed due of the strikes.
The size of High Potential‘s Season 2 order is Tbd but is expected to be larger than Season 1, which consists of 13 episodes. Because of the show’s atypical production schedule and Olson’s commitment to her other series regular job on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, filming on Season 1 had to wrap after its initial 13-episode order.

Kaitlin Olson will return to screens as Morgan in a second season of “High Potential.”
ABC has granted a Season 2 renewal to “High Potential” for the 2025-26 broadcast season, the network announced Tuesday. The news comes on the heels of the network renewing “Abbott Elementary” for a fifth season.
In “High Potential,” Olson, who can also be seen in Max’s “Hacks” and Fxx’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” stars as Morgan, a single mom with a unique knack for solving crimes. When her talent is noticed by the LAPD during a janitorial shift, Morgan is asked to join the force as a consultant where solving crimes becomes her everyday gig.
After “High Potential” left on a tense fall finale, the show’s winter return on Jan. 7 became the show’s highest-rated episode ever among both total viewers and in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live-plus-seven-day multiplatform viewing figures,...

After living up to its, uh, potential through the first half of this season, ABC’s High Potential is getting a second.
The network has renewed the Kaitlin Olson-led drama for a second season in 2025-26. High Potential has been a breakout for ABC, ranking among the top first-year series of 2024-25 so far and drawing strong streaming numbers in addition to its on-air ratings.
The first two episodes of the series averaged better than 10 million cross-platform viewers after seven days, with streaming making up more than a third of that total. ABC says the pilot episode’s audience has grown to more than 30 million in the four months since it debuted.
High Potential has taken off since moving from 10 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays earlier this month, averaging 5.74 million same-day viewers (vs. 3.48 million at the later time last fall). The Jan. 7 installment drew a series high of 12.9 million viewers...

When it comes to police procedurals, there’s an unwritten rule that you need at least one tall drink of water who spends his time brooding and taking everything too seriously.
For ABC‘s High Potential, that character is none other than the smoldering and mysteriously sexy Detective Karadec in all his strong-jaw glory.
Sure, Morgan may be the main character of the series, but even with that big brain of hers, she can hardly do it all on her own.
(Disney/Pamela Littky)
The worth of any show is found in the sum of its parts, and High Potential is made up of a quality cast of characters that never stop delivering intense drama and perfectly timed comedy.
Since the start of the series, Karadec has been beside Morgan for most of her scenes. Between the two characters, they just about set the tone and pace of every episode.

ScreenRant is proud to present an exclusive sneak peek of High Potential season 1, episode 10, "Chutes and Murders." Airing on ABC on Tuesday, January 21 at 9 p.m. Et, the new installment will see Morgan and Karadec investigate a particularly bizarre murder scene. The official synopsis reads: "A nanny is found bludgeoned to death in the park. Elsewhere, Morgan interferes when Elliot admits to not being invited to his classmate’s party."
The clip opens with Morgan trying to convince Karadec to taste her sandwich at the diner, while the detective emphasizes the importance of being discreet during their stakeout. In typical Morgan fashion, she counters his reprimand with humor, and he appears unamused. Before the banter can go any further, Karadec spots their suspect buying a newspaper across the street. Warning! Spoilers ahead for High Potential episode 9, "The RAMs"High Potential has proven Kaitlin Olson’s incredible talent as Morgan Gillory, but showing less of her actually made the show better. Morgan, the titular “High Potential Intellectual,” is a mother of three with a high Iq and compulsive need for answers. She joins the Major Crimes Division of the LAPD to consult on cases and use her fine attention to detail to pick up clues that might’ve gone unseen. Yet, despite Kaitlin Olson being one of the main reasons to watch High Potential, there are other characters that episode 9 (“The RAMs”) highlighted.

ABC’s freshman series High Potential has shattered records with its midseason return, emerging as a standout performer in the network’s Tuesday drama lineup, between Will Trent and The Rookie. Starring Kaitlyn Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), the detective series centers on Morgan, a mother of three and cleaning lady, whose exceptionally high Iq lands her a consulting role with the LAPD on the condition that they help her search for her long-missing first husband.
According to Deadline, High Potential midseason return led ABC’s midseason Tuesday drama lineup. After the release of its January 7 episode, "Obsessed," the show’s viewership has skyrocketed to an impressive 12.9 million viewers after seven days of multi-platform viewing. This milestone marks the series’ best seven-day performance to date and positions it as the strongest seven-day audience for any ABC drama in over four years.

Daniel Sunjata and Kaitlin Olson in ‘High Potential’ episode 9 (Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)
ABC’s High Potential episode nine finds Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) with childcare issues and without a car, and with Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) not caring one iota about either issue. He needs her Asap at the scene of a high-profile murder, even if it means she has to take the bus to the crime scene.
Morgan finally makes it to the scene, complete with Chloe in a stroller. Sportscaster Marvin Price is lying dead in the street, and Adam expects there to be lots of media coverage of this case. Detectives Daphne Forrester (Javicia Leslie) and Lev ‘Oz’ Osman (Deniz Akdeniz) have already interviewed a witness and can confirm it’s a homicide. High Potential made its highly-anticipated return with episode 8, but it spelled trouble for a romance that only just started. Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) made waves in the first seven episodes with her unique style, sense of humor, and unexpectedly deep motivations. Her performance alone is enough of a reason to watch High Potential, but Morgan’s interpersonal relationships are just as captivating. When Tom (Jd Pardo) appeared in episode 6 (“Hangover”), it was unclear if he would be a serious love interest or just a flirt. By the end of the episode, Morgan wrote her number on the door for Tom.
Their flirtation carried over to episode 7 (“One of Us”), where Tom asked her out more formally. Before the two could make good on it, a hostage situation broke out and Tom was shot in the High Potential midseason finale. He made it clear to Morgan that he still wanted to see her,...

ABC's hit comedy procedural High Potential has shown another side of comic actor Kaitlin Olson, but will the series score a season 2 renewal? Based on the French series Hpi, the show follows Olson's Morgan, a woman with an Iq of 160 who works as a janitor for the LAPD to support her three children. After using her superior intellect to crack a case, Morgan is brought on as a consultant to help the detectives solve other crimes. Mixing the usual police procedural elements with a healthy dose of comedy, High Potential shakes up the formula while remaining grounded.

Certain ingredients go into almost every recipe for a successful procedural series, whether it deals with cops, hospitals, or firefighting.
The one cliche and trope that never seems to go out of style is the classic “Will They, Won’t They.”
It’s an overused storytelling tool for a reason, but it may not be as welcomed on High Potential as the writers think. If you’re anything like this TV Fanatic, the last thing you want is for Morgan and Karadec to end up together.
(Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)
Don’t get me wrong — they have great chemistry, but whether that’s due to the characters working so well together or something more is yet to be seen.
You tell me. Is there something more going on with this attractive investigating duo? Should there be? Would you welcome that, or would it drag down High Potential?

High Potential's Daniel Sunjata addresses the dynamic between Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) and his character Detective Karadec following the midseason premiere, which sparked more intrigue about their relationship. Created by Drew Goddard, the procedural series follows the story of the unlikely partnership between Karadec, a methodical detective, and Morgan, an eccentric single mother with an Iq of 160 and a knack for solving murders. Although High Potential has just returned from its midseason break, the series is already a massive success for ABC, breaking viewership records and earning a fresh 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Sunjata shared his thoughts on Karadec and Morgan's relationship and pointed out the complexities of their growing partnership. In the midseason premiere, it seems that Karadec gets a little weird when Morgan mentions Tom (Jd Pardo), the police station janitor who seems to be a potential love interest. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for High Potential, Season 1 Episode 8, “Obsessed.”] High Potential is back and making way for a new dynamic between consultant Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) and LAPD Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), who took on a fresh case in the midseason premiere episode, “Obsessed.” As fans will recall, a hostage situation at the police department put Morgan in a precarious position as her daughter Ava (Amirah J) was among the fellow hostages. Thankfully, the situation concluded with Ava safely escaping and Morgan helping to solve a case that would set everyone free. Although her new fling, Tom (Jd Pardo), was caught in the crosshairs and got shot, he lived to tell the tale. In the midseason premiere, Morgan tries following through on her promise to share a date with the police department’s janitor. But when Penny (Nona Parker Johnson) winds up on a beach, believed to be dead, Morgan is called in to work as she attempts ...

‘High Potential’ Star Daniel Sunjata Says Karadec’s Feelings for Morgan Are ‘Beginning to Percolate’
Note: This story contains spoilers from “High Potential” Episode 8.
As Morgan and Karadec’s professional and personal relationship continues to grow on “High Potential,” Daniel Sunjata revealed Karadec’s feelings for Morgan are gradually “beginning to percolate.”
“He probably does [have feelings for Morgan], but I think they are in embryo, as it were,” Sunjata told TheWrap. “I don’t think he’s consciously aware of it, but I think that there is something that’s beginning to percolate.”
The duo’s relationship deepens in Episode 8 of “High Potential,” when Karadec reveals to Morgan that a painting in his apartment was a gift from his ex-fiancé prior to their engagement being broken off due to Karadec being more “more married to his work than he ever could be to to a romantic partnership.” Morgan shares her own struggles in starting a relationship with Tom (Jd Pardo), leading to Sunjata’s favorite moment in the episode.

“High Potential” is almost back for the spring season, with Kaitlin Olson’s Morgan and Daniel Sunjata’s Karadec solving a seaside crime.
In an exclusive clip of Tuesday’s episode shared with TheWrap, Morgan arrives on the scene of a new crime on the beach, greeting Karadec with a less than perfect parking job that leaves Karadec speechless.
“Am I good here?” Morgan asks, to which Karadec responds, “do you always park like this?”
Morgan suggests she receives a “city-wide parking pass” and though Karadec says “consider it done,” she tells him he’s a terrible liar. The pair then heads down to the beach to meet Oz (Deniz Akdeniz) and Daphne (Javicia Leslie) to investigate a seemingly dead body.
“Unidentified female, late 20s, blunt force trauma to the head,” Oz says, bringing Karadec and Morgan up to speed, while Daphne adds a lifeguard was “just showing up for...

ABC’s latest triumph, High Potential, is finally returning for the second half of its pilot season. The police procedural has been on break since November, but High Potential episode 8 is nearly here. Though the drama immediately garnered a sizable following, High Potential’s impressive midseason ratings may attract a new crowd. In the time it’s been gone, however, details may have gone fuzzy or been forgotten entirely.
Whether a devout fan or just tuning in, a refresher might be necessary to get caught up before the next episode. There are plenty of reasons to watch High Potential, but being up-to-date on the first seven episodes may feel daunting. The last episode aired November 12, 2024, leaving nearly two months to rewatch what was available or turn to French predecessor Hpi as a replacement show for High Potential. In any case, there are a few key storylines to highlight ahead of High Potential’s return.

Warning: this article contains Spoilers for High Potential season 1, episode 7.High Potential has created immensely memorable main characters in its pilot season, but the side character Ludo Radovic (Taran Killam) deserves more praise. While High Potential has reframed Kaitlin Olson’s image by showing her acting chops as leading lady Morgan Gillory, Ludo is instrumental to her character’s success. Throughout the first seven episodes, Ludo has been Morgan’s rock, amicably working in tandem to prioritize their children while Morgan’s new career demands extra time. Audiences are anxiously waiting for High Potential episode 8, but Ludo is standing out during rewatches as the show's hidden gem.

High Potential introduced a love triangle just before entering a short hiatus, but both men involved are necessary for one couple’s end game. The titular high potential intellectual Morgan Gillory, played by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson, is a genius with impeccable fashion and a complicated relationship history. A major subplot of High Potential’s pilot season is Morgan searching for her ex, Roman Sinquerra who, according to her, has been missing for over a decade. Her ex-husband Ludo Radovic (Taran Killam) is also still in the picture but only as a peaceful, platonic co-parent.
Since High Potential’s pilot episode, there’s been intense chemistry between Morgan and her partner, Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata). Soon after, Tom (Jd Pardo) is introduced as another potential love interest, with Morgan even leaving her number for him at the end of High Potential episode 6. Immediately, the two men became unofficial rivals.

One of ABC's newest shows this season, High Potential, is off to a very promising start. High Potential follows Kaitlin Olson's Morgan Guillory, a former cleaning lady, who joins the Major Crimes Unit of the LAPD as a consultant. Morgan, a single mom of three kids, is considered a High Intellectual Potential (Hip) with an Iq of 160, which makes her the ideal helper to solve crimes.
Morgan's partner in crime, Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), balances Morgan's "act first, think later" nature with his "by the book" attitude and unshakable moral code. While Karadec and Morgan's professional relationship continues to develop, their dynamic leaves room for sparks to fly further down the line. However, Tom (Jd Pardo), a janitor for the LAPD who has undeniable chemistry with Morgan, was recently introduced. Tom connects with Morgan because of their shared grit, similar occupations, and flirty nature.

ABC’s latest procedural drama High Potential seems to be true to its name and has amassed great viewership. The Kaitlin Olson starrer is an adaptation of the French series Hpi and follows an LAPD cleaning lady who becomes a consultant for the department due to her high intellect and observational skills.

The show has been a huge hit and viewers are already dying to learn the answers to the whodunnit. However, they will have to wait for a while.

Warning! This article may contain spoilers for High Potential and Hpi.High Potential, ABCs hit 2024 show, offers a thrilling remake of the 2021 French series Hpi (Haut Potentiel Intellectuel). Following the original show's template, the American version stars Kaitlin Olson as a single mother named Morgan who does maintenance work before demonstrating a knack for crime-solving that compels the LAPD to work with her. Because the two shows are so closely related, Hpi is in many ways the perfect replacement for High Potential which, as of writing, is on a mini hiatus. However, because the stories are so closely connected, Hpi could inadvertently spoil High Potential for some viewers.
As a crime series, preserving an air of mystery is vital for High Potential's future success. However, given that the original series has already covered some of the same ground, there's a chance that viewers could accidentally spoil the story for themselves.

It’s unlikely anyone saw what a hit High Potential would be, but after seven episodes, the series is certified fresh across the board. It’s almost hard to believe we have even more episodes coming.
Then again, the show was created by Drew Goddard, who has had his hands in several very successful films and shows. His involvement might explain why every episode is even better than the last.
Between the quality plotting and talented cast, High Potential already feels unbelievably well-developed. However, there are still moments that make us go, “Oh, I didn’t love that.”
(Pamela Littky/Disney)
Not even a show as innovative as High Potential is immune to a questionable decision or two when it comes to creative choices. Thankfully, there is far more that’s good about this show than bad.

Ava finally got to see her mom in action on the fall finale of ABC’s High Potential, but she ended up getting a lot more than she bargained for — unless you consider an armed hostage situation to be just another day at the office.
“When I read the script for this episode, I was so excited, because I love doing more dramatic, heavier scenes,” actress Amirah J tells TVLine. “I find that more fun [than comedy], if you can believe that. I had also never worked in the precinct before, so it was fun being on those stages.”

He was asked if he could see it happening, to which he responded, “Yeah, I do actually.”
He continued to Screen Rant, “Whether it happens or not, just teasing out a possible attraction between the two of them…I think that it would be cool if they tease that out, and then ultimately, it just ends up that they’re just friends with mutual respect, and that it actually never goes anywhere truly romantic.”

High Potential star Daniel Sunjata comments on the love triangle involving Karadec, Morgan, and Tom in the new series. ABC's newest procedural based on the 2021 French television series, Hpi, is spearheaded by It's Sunny In Philadelphia star, Kaitlin Olson, who also produces the project. It marks the small screen return of Drew Goddard from The Good Place and Netflix's Daredevil fame. As a police procedural, Morgan, a high-potential individual, teams up with the LAPD to solve crimes in the city. Beyond that, however, High Potential is also subtly developing a romantic plot involving its main lead.
Daniel Sunjata talks to Screen Rant about the love triangle brewing in High Potential, with Morgan at the center. Tom has clearly expressed his interest in her, and while Karadec hasn't, it's no secret that the the LAPD quasi-partners have great chemistry.
