Nannies reveal the dead woman is Tara Foley, also a nanny who frequents the park. The medical examiner tells the detectives a heavy blow to the head killed her. Her attacker hit Tara nearby, and then she crawled into the slide to escape. She died around 10pm, and unfortunately, there aren’t any CCTV cameras nearby.

ABC has handed an early Season 2 renewal to its breakout new crime drama High Potential. The light procedural starring Kaitlin Olson joins ABC’s flagship comedy Abbott Elementary in securing a spot on the network’s 2025-26 schedule. High Potential also joins the other standout 2024-25 freshman drama, CBS’ Matlock, in landing an early Season 2 renewal. Both were series originally ordered for last season but delayed due of the strikes.

The size of High Potential‘s Season 2 order is Tbd but is expected to be larger than Season 1, which consists of 13 episodes. Because of the show’s atypical production schedule and Olson’s commitment to her other series regular job on FX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, filming on Season 1 had to wrap after its initial 13-episode order.

ABC has granted a Season 2 renewal to “High Potential” for the 2025-26 broadcast season, the network announced Tuesday. The news comes on the heels of the network renewing “Abbott Elementary” for a fifth season.

In “High Potential,” Olson, who can also be seen in Max’s “Hacks” and Fxx’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” stars as Morgan, a single mom with a unique knack for solving crimes. When her talent is noticed by the LAPD during a janitorial shift, Morgan is asked to join the force as a consultant where solving crimes becomes her everyday gig.

After “High Potential” left on a tense fall finale, the show’s winter return on Jan. 7 became the show’s highest-rated episode ever among both total viewers and in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live-plus-seven-day multiplatform viewing figures,...

After living up to its, uh, potential through the first half of this season, ABC’s High Potential is getting a second.

The network has renewed the Kaitlin Olson-led drama for a second season in 2025-26. High Potential has been a breakout for ABC, ranking among the top first-year series of 2024-25 so far and drawing strong streaming numbers in addition to its on-air ratings.

The first two episodes of the series averaged better than 10 million cross-platform viewers after seven days, with streaming making up more than a third of that total. ABC says the pilot episode’s audience has grown to more than 30 million in the four months since it debuted.

As Morgan and Karadec’s professional and personal relationship continues to grow on “High Potential,” Daniel Sunjata revealed Karadec’s feelings for Morgan are gradually “beginning to percolate.”

High Potential introduced a love triangle just before entering a short hiatus, but both men involved are necessary for one couple’s end game. The titular high potential intellectual Morgan Gillory, played by It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson, is a genius with impeccable fashion and a complicated relationship history. A major subplot of High Potential’s pilot season is Morgan searching for her ex, Roman Sinquerra who, according to her, has been missing for over a decade. Her ex-husband Ludo Radovic (Taran Killam) is also still in the picture but only as a peaceful, platonic co-parent.

Since High Potential’s pilot episode, there’s been intense chemistry between Morgan and her partner, Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata). Soon after, Tom (Jd Pardo) is introduced as another potential love interest, with Morgan even leaving her number for him at the end of High Potential episode 6. Immediately, the two men became unofficial rivals.

One of ABC's newest shows this season, High Potential, is off to a very promising start. High Potential follows Kaitlin Olson's Morgan Guillory, a former cleaning lady, who joins the Major Crimes Unit of the LAPD as a consultant. Morgan, a single mom of three kids, is considered a High Intellectual Potential (Hip) with an Iq of 160, which makes her the ideal helper to solve crimes.

Morgan's partner in crime, Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), balances Morgan's "act first, think later" nature with his "by the book" attitude and unshakable moral code. While Karadec and Morgan's professional relationship continues to develop, their dynamic leaves room for sparks to fly further down the line. However, Tom (Jd Pardo), a janitor for the LAPD who has undeniable chemistry with Morgan, was recently introduced. Tom connects with Morgan because of their shared grit, similar occupations, and flirty nature.

How Karadec & Tom Are Different...

ABC’s latest procedural drama High Potential seems to be true to its name and has amassed great viewership. The Kaitlin Olson starrer is an adaptation of the French series Hpi and follows an LAPD cleaning lady who becomes a consultant for the department due to her high intellect and observational skills.

While the series has seen multiple mini-hiatuses, ABC announced that episode 7 would be the mid-season finale and the next part of the season would only air in 2025. The show has been a huge hit and viewers are already dying to learn the answers to the whodunnit. However, they will have to wait for a while.

Because the two shows are so closely related, Hpi is in many ways the perfect replacement for High Potential which, as of writing, is on a mini hiatus. However, because the stories are so closely connected, Hpi could inadvertently spoil High Potential for some viewers.

As a crime series, preserving an air of mystery is vital for High Potential's future success. However, given that the original series has already covered some of the same ground, there's a chance that viewers could accidentally spoil the story for themselves.

The good news is that it’s easy to watch the awards live. You can tune into ABC from 8/7c tonight, catching all the performances, wins, and more from the comfort of your home. It’s only airing live on ABC.

If you don’t get access to ABC, you’ll need to turn your attention to Hulu the following day. This is where you’ll be able to catch up on anything that you missed. Of course, the winners will be out there on social media, so watch out for spoilers if you don’t want to know.

It’s unlikely anyone saw what a hit High Potential would be, but after seven episodes, the series is certified fresh across the board. It’s almost hard to believe we have even more episodes coming.

Then again, the show was created by Drew Goddard, who has had his hands in several very successful films and shows. His involvement might explain why every episode is even better than the last.

Between the quality plotting and talented cast, High Potential already feels unbelievably well-developed. However, there are still moments that make us go, “Oh, I didn’t love that.”

Not even a show as innovative as High Potential is immune to a questionable decision or two when it comes to creative choices. Thankfully, there is far more that’s good about this show than bad.

Ava finally got to see her mom in action on the fall finale of ABC’s High Potential, but she ended up getting a lot more than she bargained for — unless you consider an armed hostage situation to be just another day at the office.

“When I read the script for this episode, I was so excited, because I love doing more dramatic, heavier scenes,” actress Amirah J tells TVLine. “I find that more fun [than comedy], if you can believe that. I had also never worked in the precinct before, so it was fun being on those stages.”
