The Edge has teased that he the rest of U2 have linked up with Brian Eno to work on music that could potentially land on the band’s next album — and as he tells it, the results might not sound like what fans are expecting.
“We were in the studio the other day just working on some crazy new music,” the guitarist said. “Bono and I are working on some crazy kind of sci-fi Irish folk music… which could end up becoming a part of the new U2 album. We’re not sure yet, we’ll see.”
The Edge spoke on the new music during an interview with BBC Radio 2, where he touched on the 20th anniversary of U2’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, as well as the fittingly-titled reissue How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb.

Diddy took center stage at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards alongside Usher and Kate Beckinsale to present the awards for two prestigious categories. He was arguably over the top while presenting Best Score to Alex Ebert, and later Best Original Song to U2. While Sean Combs was all in the party mood, U2 frontman Bono wasn’t having any of it.

Their awkward hug where Bono was visibly annoyed was one of the most discussed moments in that edition of the Golden Globes. U2 and Bono were on stage to receive the award for the song Ordinary Love from Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. It was a pretty touching moment for them which the disgraced hip-hop mogul should’ve caught on.

Some folks have stage names for the vibes, while others adopt new monikers out of necessity. Michael Keaton, whose real name is Michael Douglas, is a prime example of the latter. Now, he’s looking to take back his real surname by integrating it into his better-known fake name.
As the story goes, when Keaton went to join the Screen Actors Guild, he found that both Michael Douglas and Mike Douglas had already been taken. Because SAG rules stipulate no actors can work under the same name, he picked “Keaton” on a whim.
“I was looking through — I can’t remember if it was a phone book,” Keaton told People. “I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.’”
Thus, Michael Keaton was born, and it would be the moniker under which he’d find quite a bit of success,...

Paramount+ today announced that the critically acclaimed documentary Kiss the Future, which made its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and opened the Tribeca Festival in 2023, will premiere exclusively on the service in the U.S. and Canada on May 7. The documentary features interviews with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Christine Amanpour, Bill Clinton, and more.
Produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon for Artists Equity and Sarah Anthony, Kiss the Future was directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain and written by Bill S. Carter and Cicin-Sain. It is based on Carter’s memoir Fools Rush In.
The film tells a story of defiance amid the 1990s siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War, focusing on a vibrant, underground community that used art and music to affect change; a community that garnered global attention by ultimately inspiring an American aid worker to reach out to the band U2 to help raise awareness of the devastating conflict.

It looked like a typical U2 outdoor concert: Two helicopters zoomed through the starlit sky before producing spotlights over a Las Vegas desert and frontman Bono, who kneeled to the ground while singing the band’s 2004 hit “Vertigo”.
This scene may seem customary, but the visuals were created by floor-to-ceiling graphics inside the immersive Sphere. It was one of the several impressive moments during U2’s “Uv Achtung Baby” residency launch show at the high-tech, globe-shaped venue, which opened for the first time Friday night.
The legendary rock band, which has won 22 Grammys, performed for two hours inside the massive, state-of-the-art spherical venue with crystal-clear audio. Throughout the night, there were a plethora of attractive visuals — including kaleidoscope images, a burning flag and Las Vegas’ skyline, taking the more than 18,000 attendees on U2’s epic musical journey.

Performing live is exhilarating, but for these musicians who wiped out onstage, it can also be dangerous. Sometimes, an onstage fall barely even slows down a concert. For other musicians, it can land them in the hospital. Here are nine artists who have taken a tumble during a performance.

The jokes were zipping as David Letterman got together on stage in Los Angeles Wednesday night with two of his favorite musicians – U2’s Bono and The Edge – for the world premiere of the Disney+ documentary Bono and The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman. But it was The Edge who landed the first barb.
At the Q&a for the film, which revolves around Bono and Edge working on reimagined versions of U2’s canon in Dublin, with Letterman as their white-bearded interlocutor, Edge was asked why he and his bandmate thought to bring Letterman along on their cinematic journey.
“Well, being honest, the first idea was Jay Leno,” he cracked. More earnestly, he added, “We’re huge fans, have been for a long time. We’ve known Dave for many years and he was foolish enough once to invite us to play for an entire week on The Late Show.

Today Disney+ has released a new trailer for the upcoming docu-special "Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming, with Dave Letterman." Not only are we getting a chance to watch U2's Bono and The Edge head back to Dublin, but they're also taking the talk show host with them for his first-ever visit to Ireland. The band members have been friends with Letterman for 25 years, but they've never been off U.S. soil together.
The whole thing is set to coincide with the release of U2's new album "Songs of Surrender," which is "a collection of 40 seminal U2 songs from across the band's catalog, re-recorded and reimagined." The use of "reimagined" is interesting here because, in the trailer, Letterman mentions the changing of lyrics to some of the songs as things have changed in their lives. For almost four years of siege in the 1990s, the city of Sarajevo concussed from shelling, the rumblings of armored vehicles and the repeated pop of sniper fire.
But in stolen moments, other more hopeful sounds broke through: music coming from underground clubs and through TV sets whenever electricity wasn’t interrupted. Songs like U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “One.” The human need for the joy and release of music underpins the documentary Kiss the Future, which recounts how Bono and band took up the cause of Sarajevo. The documentary produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Sarah Anthony, and Drew Vinton and directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain made its world premiere tonight at the Berlin Film Festival.

When Dolly Parton learned she was going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her first reaction was to tell her supporters not to vote for her since she saw herself as strictly a country artist. But when she walked onstage near the end of the induction ceremony Saturday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, after witnessing an incredible evening of music by artists as diverse as Eminem, Judas Priest, Lionel Richie, and Duran Duran, a beaming Parton had a very different take on the situation.

Bono has surprised students at his old school in Dublin with a visit this week.
The U2 frontman visited the Mount Temple comprehensive secondary school in Clontarf, Dublin, to meet students and teachers there.
According to pupils, a rumour had gone around the school that Bono would be visiting and it was confirmed when they were called into an afternoon assembly.
Sixth year students (year 13 in the UK) were apparently treated to a private audience with the star.
“He was really nice and seemed quite down-to-earth. He didn’t have a big entourage with him or anything, just a few people who seemed to be working with him,” a student at the school told the Irish Independent.
“He spoke for a bit and then read for a while out of his new memoir,” she added.
The student is referring to the Grammy-winning frontman’s forthcoming memoir Surrender: 40 songs, 1 story, set for release on 1 November.

Bono’s memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story doesn’t come out until November 1, but you can check out an animated audio excerpt right here where the singer vividly describes U2’s first practice session at drummer Larry Mullen Jr’s house.

Even though we have what appears to be an awesome crossover in the form of “Crisis on Earth-x” to look forward to next week, the reality of the situation is that the bulk of whatever plots unfolding across each of the Arrowverse‘s individual shows will have to be put on hold for the time being. This doubly builds anticipation for their reprisals, especially when you consider the cliffhangers that both Supergirl and The Flash left us on this week.
Well, expect some major payoff throughout the first full week of December when The CW airs midseason finales for its DC TV shows. First on the block is Supergirl, which will see Samantha finally and reluctantly emerge as this year’s big bad, that being Reign, in the episode appropriately titled, um, “Reign.”

We’re nearly halfway through July, but somehow, here at the ole’ multiplex, there’s a distinct chill. No, it’s not somebody tinkering with the thermostat. It could be this new horror flick, perhaps. Although it’s not the good chill as in a memorable “spine-tingler”. No, it’s as if this wannabe’ thriller somehow escaped the dumping ground of mid-January, or a Friday-the-thirteenth weekend, or sometime close to Halloween. It’s squarely aimed at the pre-teen and teen set since it’s got the PG-13 rating, so it’s a bit scary, just not too intense or “gory gross”. And it features a cast from other young adult flicks and TV shows for audience identification. And what’s the added incentive at the top of the poster, the nudge that’ll put behinds in the seats? “From the director of Annabelle”…really. That’s something to boast about?...

There is a quote, often attributed to François Truffaut, that there can be no such thing as an anti-war film. Here’s his exact words, from this 1973 interview with Gene Siskel in the Chicago Tribune: “I find that violence is very ambiguous in movies. For example, some films claim to be antiwar, but I don’t think I’ve really seen an antiwar film. Every film about war ends up being pro-war.” It’s a line of thinking that could apply to rape and suicide, images of which proliferate onscreen so often it can be difficult to keep track.

1. “Dear White People” Season 1 (available April 28)
Why Should I Watch It? “Dear White People” is based on Justin Simien’s 2014 Sundance sensation of the same name, pulling characters and plot lines from the satirical comedy that helped introduce us to the glory that is Tessa Thompson. While the “Creed” star won’t be returning, other breakouts from the film are, and the core story — of a predominantly white Ivy League university facing a heated racial debate after a misguided blackface Halloween party — has been refined to fit a serialized format. It is hilarious, sharp, and so timely it hurts. Don’t miss it.
Best Episode: We caught the first two at SXSW, and though both are absolutely stellar, I’ve got to give the edge to the pilot. Logan Browning, as a radio personality who hosts a show titled “Dear White People,” gives a finely layered turn and the general...

Netflix is joining the R-Rated animation club that includes the likes of “Sausage Party,” “Heavy Metal,” “South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut” and anime like “Akira,” “Appleseed” and more.
The streaming service is joining forces with director Matt Thompson and partner Adam Reed, the duo behind IndieWire favorite “Archer,” for the revisionist history tale “America: The Motion Picture.” And no, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke unless Deadline is two days ahead — Channing Tatum will voice George Washington.

Dave Callaham, who wrote the script that acted as a starting point for Sylvester Stallone’s “The Expendables,” will write and produce. He also wrote “Zombieland 2” and acts as the showrunner on Amazon’s similarly themed action-comedy “Jean-Claude Van Johnson.”
Beyond voicing our first president, Tatum will also produce along with...

The lagging 2017 box office got a big boost as “Logan” (20th Century Fox), starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine — the first of three anticipated March juggernauts — opened like a summer franchise blockbuster. The offshoot from the “Wolverine” subset of X-Men movies marks the first R-rating for the storied franchise.
Even better, it wasn’t the only upbeat news this post-Oscars weekend. Hitchcockian thriller “Get Out” (Universal), the Blumhouse sleeper from Jordan Peele, dropped only 22 per cent on its second weekend, which is stunning.
And Lionsgate, fresh off eight wins from “La La Land” and “Hacksaw Ridge” on Oscar night, returned with the surprisingly strong faith-based “The Shack,” starring “Hidden Figures” Oscar-nominee and Saturday Night Live host Octavia Spencer.
The post-Oscar results were mixed to positive, as two of the top category winners are already available for home viewing. “Moonlight” (streaming and available on DVD/Blu-Ray) had both the widest break...

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film and TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)
From “School Ties” to “Live By Night” and this weekend’s “The Great Wall,” Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have each — for better and worse — left a considerable and ever-increasing footprint in the cultural landscape. But while the world is wide enough for both of them, our hearts are not. And so, we forced our panel of critics to choose: Ben Affleck or Matt Damon?
There can be only one.

This is a toughie. In terms of looks, both Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s faces remind me of between forty and fifty of my least-favorite classmates during...

This review is based off a volume that collects Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: Rebirth #1 and Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #1-7
Although Green Lanterns continually astounds while charting new territory and focusing on rookies Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps is more so for those who prefer a steady diet of meat and potatoes as it were; this is a series that takes familiar concepts and expands upon them. In other words, if you’re looking for a kickass story featuring your favorite ringslingers, you’re certainly in the right place.
Facing the daunting task of picking up where the New 52 left off, writer Robert Venditti reignites the Hal Jordan-Sinestro rivalry as the latter has now occupied Warworld, placing it at the center of the universe where Oa once stood. Yes, you will eventually reacquaint yourself with the likes of John Stewart and Kilowog,...

The Blue Brand of the WWE closed out its year as Smackdown Live! aired on the USA Network. Promising title matches, the WWE wanted Smackdown to go out on a high note. Did it deliver?
The show started off with the return of John Cena. Coming off a lengthy break that saw him season two of his reality show American Grit on Fox as well as guest hosting Saturday Night Live, only the third wrestler to do so after Hulk Hogan and The Rock, he arrived to announce that he would be facing the WWE Champion in a title match at the Royal Rumble.
This has annoyed me about the WWE for a while now. Yes, this is a scripted show. But this scripted show is about a fictional sports league. In a real sporting organization, such as Ufc, you don’t have someone show up and suddenly declare they...
