The Edge has teased that he the rest of U2 have linked up with Brian Eno to work on music that could potentially land on the band’s next album — and as he tells it, the results might not sound like what fans are expecting.

“We were in the studio the other day just working on some crazy new music,” the guitarist said. “Bono and I are working on some crazy kind of sci-fi Irish folk music… which could end up becoming a part of the new U2 album. We’re not sure yet, we’ll see.”

The Edge spoke on the new music during an interview with BBC Radio 2, where he touched on the 20th anniversary of U2’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, as well as the fittingly-titled reissue How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb.

Some folks have stage names for the vibes, while others adopt new monikers out of necessity. Michael Keaton, whose real name is Michael Douglas, is a prime example of the latter. Now, he’s looking to take back his real surname by integrating it into his better-known fake name.

As the story goes, when Keaton went to join the Screen Actors Guild, he found that both Michael Douglas and Mike Douglas had already been taken. Because SAG rules stipulate no actors can work under the same name, he picked “Keaton” on a whim.

“I was looking through — I can’t remember if it was a phone book,” Keaton told People. “I must’ve gone, ‘I don’t know, let me think of something here.’ And I went, ‘Oh, that sounds reasonable.’”

Paramount+ today announced that the critically acclaimed documentary Kiss the Future, which made its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and opened the Tribeca Festival in 2023, will premiere exclusively on the service in the U.S. and Canada on May 7. The documentary features interviews with Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Christine Amanpour, Bill Clinton, and more.

Produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon for Artists Equity and Sarah Anthony, Kiss the Future was directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain and written by Bill S. Carter and Cicin-Sain. It is based on Carter’s memoir Fools Rush In.

The film tells a story of defiance amid the 1990s siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War, focusing on a vibrant, underground community that used art and music to affect change; a community that garnered global attention by ultimately inspiring an American aid worker to reach out to the band U2 to help raise awareness of the devastating conflict.

U2’s The Edge and artist Morleigh Steinberg are set to be honored at the Venice Family Clinic’s inaugural Heart (Health + Art) gala.

The clinic, a nonprofit community health center that provides quality health care to people in need, will hold its gala May 11 at 3Labs in Culver City, California.

The clinic’s Heart (Health + Art) initiative “represents a community that cares about health, art, creativity and social justice.” At its first-ever gala, influential creatives, philanthropists and stars will celebrate the Heart community and honor individuals who make the clinic’s health care services possible, with the support of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation as gala sponsor.

Spouses Steinberg and The Edge, who are both longtime supporters of Venice Family Clinic, will receive the first-ever Heart Award at the event. Organizers said the duo “exemplify the spirit of Heart through their passion for the arts and health equity.”

AMC Theatres will be the exclusive cinematic home to Kiss the Future, the award-winning documentary about the siege of Sarajevo and how its people and artistic community drew inspiration from the music of U2.

Under a deal between AMC and Fifth Season, select AMC locations will debut the film on February 23 for what is described as a full theatrical run. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Christiane Amanpour, and former Pres. Bill Clinton are among those who appear in the film directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain and produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Sarah Anthony. Kiss the Future will become available to stream later this year exclusively on Paramount+.

“Kiss the Future, directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain, story by Bill Carter and Cicin-Sain, screenplay by Carter, based on his memoir: Fools Rush In, is the story of defiance amid the 1990s siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War,” notes a release about the documentary.

It looked like a typical U2 outdoor concert: Two helicopters zoomed through the starlit sky before producing spotlights over a Las Vegas desert and frontman Bono, who kneeled to the ground while singing the band’s 2004 hit “Vertigo”.

This scene may seem customary, but the visuals were created by floor-to-ceiling graphics inside the immersive Sphere. It was one of the several impressive moments during U2’s “Uv Achtung Baby” residency launch show at the high-tech, globe-shaped venue, which opened for the first time Friday night.

The legendary rock band, which has won 22 Grammys, performed for two hours inside the massive, state-of-the-art spherical venue with crystal-clear audio. Throughout the night, there were a plethora of attractive visuals — including kaleidoscope images, a burning flag and Las Vegas’ skyline, taking the more than 18,000 attendees on U2’s epic musical journey.

The Tribeca Festival has its opening-night, closing-night and centerpiece films.

Organizers said today that the documentary Kiss the Future will kick off the event on June 7 and a 30th anniversary screening of fest co-founder Robert De Niro’s A Bronx Tale will bookend it on June 17. This year’s Centerpiece Gala on June 10 will feature Disney-Pixar’s Elemental, which is set to close the Cannes Film Festival next month.

In 1975, Alice Cooper was performing in Vancouver when a prop sent him careening off the stage.

“I was using a toy box as a prop and it fell over and knocked me off the stage,” he said, per Ultimate Classic Rock. “I cracked my ribs and hit my head on the cement floor. I put my hand on my head and it felt like a baseball. But we came back on in that old ‘show-must-go-on’ bit.”

He returned to the stage for a few more songs despite having a concussion and broken ribs.

The jokes were zipping as David Letterman got together on stage in Los Angeles Wednesday night with two of his favorite musicians – U2’s Bono and The Edge – for the world premiere of the Disney+ documentary Bono and The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman. But it was The Edge who landed the first barb.

At the Q&a for the film, which revolves around Bono and Edge working on reimagined versions of U2’s canon in Dublin, with Letterman as their white-bearded interlocutor, Edge was asked why he and his bandmate thought to bring Letterman along on their cinematic journey.

“Well, being honest, the first idea was Jay Leno,” he cracked. More earnestly, he added, “We’re huge fans, have been for a long time. We’ve known Dave for many years and he was foolish enough once to invite us to play for an entire week on The Late Show.

Disney+ released the official trailer for its original documentary “Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming, with Dave Letterman” on Thursday.

The docu-special sees Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville capturing the musicians’ return to their hometown of Dublin along with David Letterman who visits the Irish city for the first time.

The streamer released the trailer on Twitter with the caption, “Go back to the place where the music began.”

Today Disney+ has released a new trailer for the upcoming docu-special "Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming, with Dave Letterman." In a commercial during Sunday’s Super Bowl, the Irish rock band U2 announced a series of Las Vegas shows in a UFO-themed trailer.

The U2:uv Achtung Baby Live at the Sphere residency is scheduled to take place this fall at the Msg Sphere in the Venetian resort in Las Vegas.

U2 will be the first band to perform at the new venue, which can hold up to 17,500 people.

The Mgs Sphere was originally set to open in 2021, but the Covid-19 pandemic delayed its construction until 2023.

The show is described as a “futuristic adventure in a unique desert landscape.” It’s the band’s first live performance in four years following their 30th anniversary Joshua Tree tour.

Alanis Morissette took to Instagram to respond to “mis-informed rumblings” surrounding her absence from a performance at Saturday’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. Morissette was set to perform “You’re So Vain” with Olivia Rodrigo as a tribute to inductee Carly Simon.

When Dolly Parton learned she was going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, her first reaction was to tell her supporters not to vote for her since she saw herself as strictly a country artist. But when she walked onstage near the end of the induction ceremony Saturday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, after witnessing an incredible evening of music by artists as diverse as Eminem, Judas Priest, Lionel Richie, and Duran Duran, a beaming Parton had a very different take on the situation.

Bono has surprised students at his old school in Dublin with a visit this week.

The U2 frontman visited the Mount Temple comprehensive secondary school in Clontarf, Dublin, to meet students and teachers there.

According to pupils, a rumour had gone around the school that Bono would be visiting and it was confirmed when they were called into an afternoon assembly.

Sixth year students (year 13 in the UK) were apparently treated to a private audience with the star.

“He was really nice and seemed quite down-to-earth. He didn’t have a big entourage with him or anything, just a few people who seemed to be working with him,” a student at the school told the Irish Independent.

“He spoke for a bit and then read for a while out of his new memoir,” she added.

The student is referring to the Grammy-winning frontman’s forthcoming memoir Surrender: 40 songs, 1 story, set for release on 1 November.

Even though we have what appears to be an awesome crossover in the form of “Crisis on Earth-x” to look forward to next week, the reality of the situation is that the bulk of whatever plots unfolding across each of the Arrowverse‘s individual shows will have to be put on hold for the time being. This doubly builds anticipation for their reprisals, especially when you consider the cliffhangers that both Supergirl and The Flash left us on this week.

Well, expect some major payoff throughout the first full week of December when The CW airs midseason finales for its DC TV shows. UK sales outfit Starline Entertainment has taken worldwide rights to Dave Evans’s investigative documentary My Grandfather The Spy.

Co-directed by Martin Scanlan, the film follows Evans’s [pictured in the film] attempt to unearth secrets from his family’s past – to solve the mystery behind his grandfather’s frequent trips behind the Iron Curtain during the height of the Cold War.

The project was developed through the New Discoveries programme at The Balkan Documentary Center, and had support from Ffilm Cymru Wales, as well as BBC Wales. It received a special mention at Kosovo’s DokuFest in 2015 and was selected to participate in the Distribution Rewired market at Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2016.

Production is scheduled to be completed in December this year.

We’re nearly halfway through July, but somehow, here at the ole’ multiplex, there’s a distinct chill. No, it’s not somebody tinkering with the thermostat. It could be this new horror flick, perhaps. Although it’s not the good chill as in a memorable “spine-tingler”.
