New York City born Florence Meyer, was the daughter of the Washington Post publisher Eugene Meyer, and economic and social rights activist, Agnes Elizabeth (Ernst) Meyer. After studying dance and acting in Paris and Berlin, she became a protégé of Man Ray and focused on photography. She famously took the double wedding portraits of Man Ray and Juliet Browner, and Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning - as well as many actors, artists, composers, musicians, playwrights, statesmen, writers and other celebrities. Florence married Austrian actor Oskar Homolka in 1939 and they left Germany soon after the Nazis took power. In 1943 the family settled in Los Angeles. Florence Meyer authored "Focus on Art", which was published posthumously in 1963.
