Ryan Petrov is an artist born on January 20, 1982, in Sofia, Bulgaria, hailing from a family with a strong academic background. He is the grandson of renowned Bulgarian hematologist, Professor Zdravko Georgiev. Ryan's early years were marked by his father leaving the family when Ryan was just a child, while his mother, Isabella Georgieva, worked as a translator. Ryan has a younger brother from the same parents and an older sister on his father's side, whom he has never had the chance to meet. He is also aware of other siblings from his father's side in France, though he has not been able to contact them.
In 1986, amidst the Communist regime, Ryan's father abandoned his family without a second thought and fled to France. After the regime fell, his mother was invited to work as a translator in Belgium. In 1990, Ryan, his younger brother, his mother, and his stepfather moved to Brussels, where Ryan's passion for video games, manga, and especially anime flourished. He also developed a keen interest in sports, participating in basketball, baseball, football, badminton, table tennis, archery, crossbow shooting, indoor climbing, and more. It was during this time that Ryan discovered his talent for acting, performing in school plays and portraying a wide range of characters, from serial killers and action heroes to princes and eccentric personalities. Between 1991 and 1995, he appeared in several film and TV projects as well as commercials, with further appearances around 2001, 2002, 2010, and 2012.
After his time in Belgium, Ryan returned to Bulgaria with his family. Though his love for acting remained strong, circumstances kept him from pursuing it for an extended period. In the summer of 2003, a biking accident resulted in a broken arm, which forced him to halt the sports activities he had been involved in for several years.
In 2004, Ryan's life took a new direction with the birth of his son, who became the center of his world. Embracing the responsibilities of fatherhood, he devoted himself fully to his family. Tragedy struck again in 2015 with the sudden passing of his grandmother, Lilia Georgieva, and just a few months later in 2016, his mother also passed away unexpectedly, leaving a profound impact on Ryan's life.
Determined to reignite his passion for acting, in 2019, Ryan enrolled in a stunt course led by the renowned instructor Adam Horton at the prestigious Nu Boyana Stunt Academy, situated in the largest film studio in Europe, Nu Boyana Film Studios. The film studio has been the backdrop for numerous iconic action films such as "The Expendables," "Olympus Has Fallen," and "The Hitman's Bodyguard." After successfully completing the course, Ryan continued honing his skills at the academy, diving deeper into the world of stunts while also reviving his acting career. He appeared in various commercials, film productions, and short films, showcasing his versatility not only as an actor but also as a model. However, the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic temporarily halted his stunt training and many of his projects.
Adapting to the changing circumstances, Ryan found new avenues for self-expression through social media. His direct and unapologetic approach quickly garnered attention across various platforms, captivating audiences with his authentic and refreshing perspectives. Seamlessly blending his acting skills into his sketches, Ryan continued to engage his growing fan base.
In 2021, Ryan ventured into storytelling, creating a chilling horror story titled "La balançoire (The Swing)." Fueled by his passion for storytelling, he transformed the narrative into a compelling script for a short film. Looking ahead, Ryan aims to step into the director's role, hoping to one day bring his haunting visionary project to life on screen.
In the summer of 2022, Ryan featured in 12 episodes of the Bulgarian TV production "Sofia at Home," playing a guest role. In 2023, he embarked on writing three books simultaneously, with two being novels and the third chronicling his personal experiences during his health challenges. He also continues to appear periodically in commercials.
