The Flash series has been recognized as one of the worst points for DC’s Arrowverse. It was a show that went on for too long, forcing audiences to witness something great get turned into something unrecognizable. While there is no denying that the series was awful by its end, Grant Gustin’s show did manage to do one thing that takes the cinematic universe years to accomplish: it introduced many new characters.

From iconic Flash villains to original characters of their own, fans saw the series bring life to several iconic comic book figures. One that perhaps has the most interesting and bizarre storyline has to be Danielle Panabaker’s Caitlin Snow.
With how many powers she has gotten over the years, fans cannot help but wonder what would happen if she and Barry Allen had a child together.

The Flash television series was easily a massive fan favorite throughout the time it aired. Even after concluding its run and the Arrowverse as a whole with its ninth and final season, Grant Gustin continues to please fans as the best iteration of Barry Allen to date. But while the majority of the saga was praiseworthy, some parts weren’t, and the cast still regrets it.

While the adaptation was truly remarkable, there have been some storylines that would have better suited the lore had CW not decided to butcher them short. This, in particular, includes the “Flashpoint” event from the comics – something that was, rather perfectly, brought into live-action, but couldn’t stay long enough due to creative decisions as opposed to the cast’s wishes.

In the high-speed world of Grant Gustin’s The Flash series, where meta-humans battle villainous foes and time travel often complicates relationships, love took on a different kind of velocity for audiences. Well, apparently, after Gustin’s Barry Allen ended up with Candice Patton’s Iris West, following their initial association in Season 3, fans expressed their disappointment in the pairing.

Despite being initially thrilled to see the duo begin their dating phase in The Flash Season 3, and even affectionately dubbing them “WestAllen”, fans’ preference took a wild detour. As the show sped toward its conclusion in 2023, the audience’s romantic inclinations shifted from Barry and Iris to his association with some unexpected characters like Caitlin Snow and Kara Danvers.

When it comes to popular shows like The Flash, every fan’s two cents about characters can snowball into a lively debate! Ah, Grant Gustin’s portrayal of The Flash! It’s being lauded, applauded, and even critiqued. But let’s cut through the fluff and talk about the elephant in the room—criticism surrounding how characters like Caitlin Snow, played by Danielle Panabaker, were developed vis-à-vis the likes of Iris West and Cisco Ramon.

It’s no secret that some fans believe Caitlin’s character arc has taken a few too many detours compared to her teammates, Iris and Cisco, who enjoyed significant growth and even superpowers. While the former often seemed to be running in circles, her journey as a vital member of Team Flash has been anything but mundane.

While remakes are a longstanding tradition in the horror genre, 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ushered in a decade-dominating trend of reinventing classic genre properties for the new millennium. Hoping to replicate the success of Texas Chainsaw, production company Platinum Dunes re-teamed with director Marcus Nispel for a contemporary take on Friday the 13th in 2009.
Like many of the best remakes, Friday the 13th doesn’t recycle the same plot and characters from the 1980 film. The script, penned by Freddy vs. Jason scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, strikes a careful balance between fresh and familiar by blending novel concepts with interpolated elements from the first four Friday the 13th films — from Mrs. Voorhees to sackhead Jason to the iconic hockey mask.
Following an extended prologue — which streamlines the summer camp slasher formula into 20 breakneck minutes before the title card drops — ruggedly handsome Clay Miller is introduced. While searching the...

Moms really are superheroes, aren't they? That's at least what a bedazzled Stanley cup said at my last Kindergarten parent night. I may have even seen it on a rear window a time or two next to a stick figure woman wearing a cape standing next to a gaggle of children. But all joking aside, it's true. We go above and beyond the call of duty.
As our children grow, we see them absorb some of our own hobbies; like my obsession of watching fictional superheroes on the big and small screen. I'll never forget the day I sat my four-year-old down to watch Thor (Chris Hemsworth) land in Wakanda and told him, "this is a very important thing. Please be quiet." My second born's first word was "Martha." Needless to say, little Willian and Henry are hooked. As older lads now, they watch it all, from "Zach Snyder's...

As far as horror franchises go, the Friday the 13th franchise which featured 12 films between 1980 and 2009, became a big hit with fans across the world. While the movies has never found much favor with critics, it succeeded in keeping audiences invested in its narrative featuring the central protagonist Mrs Vorhees and her son Jason.

While the Marvel side of things struggles to hold on to a strong footing, Disney can go back to developing other franchises in the superhero genre. One of the films that the studio can revive as a major franchise would be the 2005 film, Sky High. It was directed by Kung Fu Panda 4 director Mike Mitchell and starred Michael Angarano and The Flash star Danielle Panabaker in the lead roles.

Mitchell revealed that Disney had plans to develop a sequel film and a spin-off series in the Sky High universe earlier. He even fleshed out concepts for a sequel and shared that he was still interested in working on the project.

The Friday the 13th universe is expanding, though not in the way we've all been hoping for, at least not yet. No, there aren't any new movies on the way, but Horror, Inc. exclusively revealed their plans to IGN last week to launch the "Jason Universe," which will include immersive experiences, games, merchandise, and other entertainment.
While movies are still not on the table due to the ongoing entanglement involving the rights, television is still in play. Peacock and A24 are continuing to develop a Friday the 13th prequel series titled Crystal Lake, previously involving Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller, though he recently exited the series.
In 2022, Fuller discussed the movie rights issue, telling Fangoria that "they are tied up at New Line and are super, super messy and probably won't be untangled anytime soon."
So we'll have to get our Jason Voorhees fix in other ways, which is exactly what Horror,...

And while the holiday doesn’t line up, we couldn’t pass up a chance to revisit Friday the 13th (2009) for its fifteenth anniversary.
In the Marcus Nispel remake, a group of friends travel to the palatial country house of Trent (Travis Van Winkle) near what was once Camp Crystal Lake. There’s a solid chance this month’s edition of “Revenge of the Remakes” ends up as one of my favorite column entries. George A. Romero’s The Crazies and Breck Eisner’s The Crazies inspire an exceptional case study about the peaceful coexistence between remakes and originals. Both filmmakers choose unique perspectives when dooming small-town America, even though the early 1970s and dawning 2010s validate eerily similar conspiracy paranoias. Stacking these Trixie-toxin thrillers back-to-back validates why remakes aren’t here to piss all over your safe, swaddling nostalgia blankets. Remakes aren’t the enemy — they’re a golden opportunity.
Romero’s The Crazies could only accomplish so much as a commentary against bureaucratic incompetence given the $270K budget. It benefits from a facelift, much like how Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes reaches its full potential as a bloodthirsty 2000s revamp. That’s not a shot at legends...

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift were the writers who cracked the Freddy vs. Jason story and pulled that project out of development hell, where it had been trapped for a decade. Six years later, when Warner Bros. teamed up with Paramount and Platinum Dunes for a Friday the 13th reboot, Shannon and Swift were again the writers. (You can hear all about that Friday the 13th in our latest Wtf Happened video.) Since the reboot made over $91 million at the global box office on a budget of $19 million when it was released in February of 2009, it was no surprise when it was announced that it was going to receive a sequel, to be shot in 3-D and released on August 13, 2010. Then the studios couldn’t agree on the money split, so the sequel was shelved… but not before Shannon and Swift had already written the full script. Today, to celebrate Friday the 13th,...

The Flash arrived on the CW as an antidote to the heavy, bleak world of Arrow. Our Scarlet Speedster was going to be a bright, upbeat superhero series and it was—at first. With each successive season, it grew bleaker and more chaotic as an overstuffed cast all demanded screentime and the writing staff never seemed to grasp that there were other villains than those connected to the Speed Force.
The 2022-23 television season brought us The Flash’s ninth and final season, providing a chance to give closure to the core characters. Tomorrow, Warner Home Entertainment releases The Flash: The Complete Ninth and Final Season.
Across the truncated season, everyone had a moment to shine, get their due, take a bow and move aside so the Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Nora West Allen (Candice Patton) center got to have the last word as they finally welcomed Nora to the preset.

“The Flash” has officially crossed the finish line on The CW and with it, the Arrowverse has officially come to an end. So, how exactly did the show wrap up its nine seasons and an entire on-screen universe?
Well, the good news is pretty much everyone got their happy ending. But before we can get to the ending, let’s start at the beginning.
As promised, Tom Cavanaugh indeed returned for the series finale of “The Flash,” and pretty early too. Eobard Thawne was not the only major villain from Barry’s (Grant Gustin) past that returned though. Savitar made an appearance too, along with Karan Oberoi’s Godspeed and a few others.

The Flash will end its nine-season run on The CW on Wednesday night, and writing the superhero series finale was a big task for showrunner Eric Wallace. Before writing the final episode, he sat down and watched several series finales from other shows and took some inspiration from three of them – Lost, Angel, and The Office.
Starring Grant Gustin (above), Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Danielle Nicolet, Kayla Compton, Brandon McKnight, and Jon Cor, the series follows the fastest man alive and his team of superheroes as they key the planet safe from metahumans who use their powers to hurt others.

What becomes a “legend” most? Grant Gustin answers that question in the course of celebrating one particular castmate from The Flash in the new TVLine video above.
During Gustin’s visit to TVLine’s New York office, we carved out a minute to have the front man for the long-running Arrowverse series, which airs its series finale on Wednesday, May 24, say a few words about those who were with him on Day 1, Episode 1 — and all of whom stuck with the show for at least seven of its nine seasons, if not the whole shebang.

This article contains The Flash spoilers.
The Flash Season 9 Episode 9
The end is truly nigh. After a handful of more standalone-style “interlude” episodes, The Flash enters its endgame with an hour that brings back old favorites and takes big narrative swings, restoring the multiverse and reminding Barry Allen of why he became a hero in the first place.
Any The Flash episode that features the long-awaited return of Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, as well as guest appearances from Arrow stars Stephen Amell and David Ramsey, is basically guaranteed to be a must-watch, but “It’s My Party And I’ll Die If I Want To” is a surprisingly emotional installment on top of that, one that offers several characters some much-needed closure and a chance to rededicate themselves to fighting the good fight.
“Honestly, I’m so thrilled that this was the episode I got to direct,” says Danielle Panabaker,...

“The Flash” is speeding toward its end, and with it comes the end of the Arrowverse. But, for the most part, Danielle Panabaker hasn’t gotten too emotional — at least until it came time for her final directorial turn on the show.
With Wednesday night’s episode, Panabaker, who has starred as Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost on the series since its pilot, has directed five episodes over the course of the series. And according to the actress, the sense of finality on the show really set in while she was behind the camera this time.
“I will say that was, I think, one of the few times I got emotional, in this final season is looking around, you know, at a lot of the different crew members, most of whom were there the first time I started directing, and you know, I really love collaborating with them,” Panabaker told TheWrap.

The Flash is currently in the midst of its ninth and final season, but the series finale is quickly approaching. While speaking with TVLine, The Flash star Grant Gustin answered fan questions, including if he was happy with where Barry Allen ends up at the end of the series.
Grant Gustin replied that he was, but shared that he always imagined the series ending with Barry’s death. “When I thought about [The Flash] ending, there was a theory out there that Barry would sacrifice himself to keep the Speed Force alive and become the lightning bolt that inevitably struck him [in the pilot] and create this full circle moment, which I thought was really cool,” Gustin said. “I kinda always wanted him to die a hero’s death in a way, and Eric [Wallace] was very opposed to the idea, and we really wanted to see a happy ending for Barry and Iris.
