Jimmy Eat World are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their influential third studio album, Clarity, by releasing a 2021 live recording on vinyl. The limited edition 2xLP is currently listed to arrive on May 24th.
As the name suggests, Clarity: Phoenix Sessions was recorded live during Jimmy Eat World’s 2021 three-night livestream series of the same name, which featured the band performing a different album in full during each show. They originally released the live recording on digital platforms later that year, and you can stream it below.
The 2xLP collection is pressed on translucent sunkissed colored vinyl and will be enclosed in gatefold packaging containing previously unseen behind-the-scenes photos by Steve Thrasher and notes from the band. Pre-orders are ongoing.
“How we play songs evolves over time: One person adds an embellishment, and then the next night someone else picks up on it and adds their own thing,” singer/guitarist...

Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World are gearing up to tour together this summer. Ahead of those shows, the bands have gotten to know each other by covering a song from the other group’s catalogs.
Andy Hull and company took on “Table for Glasses,” the opening track to Jimmy Eat World’s 1999 LP Clarity. The singer’s gentle voice works well for the slow-building song, and the cover’s insular production makes Manchester Orchestra’s version feel more immediate than the emo original.
“It was an absolute honor to trade covers with one of our favorite bands,” Hull said in a statement. “We approached our cover with admiration for the original and had a blast exploring all of its spacious corners.”

Jimmy Eat World lead singer Jim Adkins has shared several exclusive pages from his upcoming graphic novel, Jimmy Eat World: 555, with Rolling Stone. The comic is currently available for preorder, to be released on June 15th.
The plot of the graphic novel is based on the band’s music video for “555,” released in October 2019. The video depicts the alien Klaarg as he takes on a job as overseer of a galactic factory for Kudj Kram, a form of cloned slave labor. When the factory is targeted for closure, Klaarg realizes...

It’s been 20 years since Jimmy Eat World’s breakthrough Clarity, but the band is quietly releasing music that stands up to its endearing early emo-rock work.
An example: “Love Never,” a song that was released as a seven-inch in 2018, which the band — frontman Jim Adkins, touring multi-instrumentalist Robin Vining, and percussionist Zach Lind — opened with during its recent appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts.
With manic energy, big harmonies, and a message about the consequences of love, the song could have been on 2001’s Bleed American. But the...

Before Sundance gets underway, SXSW has unveiled the first wave of their film lineup. This year’s slate includes Judd Apatow’s Pete Davidson-led comedy The King of Staten Island, a new Spike Jonze-directed Beastie Boys documentary, an intriguing new film by Amy Seimetz, and more.
There’s also The Lovebirds, directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) and starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, whose comedic stylings coalesce astoundingly well in the first trailer. The duo play Leilani and Jibran, a couple who are accidentally embroiled in a murder mystery as a man claiming to be a cop commits murder with their car and leaves them with the evidence.
Ahead of a release on April 3, see the trailer below, followed by the SXSW 2020 lineup.

The 27th edition of the SXSW Film Festival will feature a romantic caper starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani, a documentary about the Beastie Boys directed by Spike Jonze, a “hidden camera” comedy headlined by Tiffany Haddish and an autobiographical studio vehicle from Pete Davidson.
Thousands of moviegoers will flock to Austin, Texas, starting on March 13 for the annual gathering, which is a launching pad for major summer — or spring — studio releases, as well as smaller independent films and buzzy TV shows.
“King of Staten Island,” which stars Davidson, will open the fest. The movie is directed by Judd Apatow, who is no stranger to SXSW, having brought many of his hit projects — from “Knocked Up” to “Bridesmaids” — to screen first at SXSW.
Other high-profile titles that will premiere in Austin include “The Lovebirds,” a comedy from Michael Showalter, with Rae and Nanjiani trying to solve a murder mystery; “Bad Trip,...

Jimmy Eat World shared a new song, “All the Way (Stay),” from their 10th studio album, Surviving, set to arrive October 18th via RCA Records.
“All the Way (Stay)” arrived with an accompanying video, directed by Daniel Carberry, which features the parallel stories of two drifters who spend their time smoking in abandoned bowling alleys, playing pool, getting naked in laundromats and eating some very messy burgers.
“‘All The Way (Stay)’ extolls the virtues of letting people discover the real you while exposing your vulnerabilities,” the band said in a statement.

With their new songs, Jimmy Eat World are proving that they’ve still got it in terms of quality. After over a decade of albums, you’d think we’ve seen it all from them, but as years go by, they continue to pull new and interesting things out from their sleeves. The band is dropping their ninth full-length album, Integrity Blues, on October 21st, and to celebrate, they just released a video of them performing their single, “Sure and Certain,” acoustically.
“Sure and Certain,” which debuted back in August, is arguably one of the best lead singles that Jimmy Eat World has ever had, formulating a rock sound around bigger pop sensibilities. The acoustic version strips down the song entirely, and brings it back into a setting that the band has always managed to strive in. With great harmonies and a pitch perfect performance by frontman Jim Adkins, this...

Jimmy Eat World gave us a taste of their new album last week when they dropped the first track “Get Right,” but now they’re making everybody hungry for more upon the release of another new jam, “Sure And Certain.”
“Sure And Certain” will act as the proper lead single for the band’s upcoming record, Integrity Blues, and it’s got the perfect formula to become a radio rock hit. Granted, it’s certainly no “The Middle,” and Taylor Swift probably won’t be lip-syncing this one in an Apple commercial anytime soon, but with a catchy, soaring chorus and nostalgic melodies, it’s yet another notch in the group’s belt of great songs.

Jimmy Eat World are back with their first new song since 2013’s Damage, and it comes in the form of single “Get Right.” The track is taken from the rock band’s forthcoming full-length, which is expected to see a release on October 21st.
“Get Right” packs a similar punch that listeners expect from Jimmy Eat World singles, featuring a foot-stomping chorus and addictive guitar riffs. Along with a lyric video for the song, the band is giving away a free download for it on their official website.
While no title for the upcoming album has been revealed just yet, retailers from overseas have seemingly listed the new record up for pre-order under the title Integrity Blues. The moniker would make sense, as it was also the name of a song that frontman Jim Adkins performed live during his solo tour last summer.

One of the greatest parts of attending any concert comes in seeing what surprising covers might adorn the performer's setlist. Take Jimmy Eat World. It's doubtful fans in attendance at the band's Tuesday night show at Cleveland's House of Blues expected to hear Jimmy Eat World rip through Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
But look a little closer and you may find that the move isn't so surprising after all. Lead singer Jim Adkins has already revealed his affinity for Top-40 covers, having recently performed an acoustic solo version of Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)." It's not even the first time Adkins' and Swift's paths have merged -- the Jimmy Eat World frontman joined Swift onstage during a 2011 concert in Arizona to perform the band's popular song "The Middle." Jimmy Eat World stopped by NME's offices (lucky ducks) to chat about their upcoming set at the Download Festival and play some tunes. One of the songs they chose -- for better or probably worse -- was Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)."
Lead singer Jim Adkins avoided Rihanna's epic, soaring vocals and instead opted for a significantly simpler approach. The result is a bit deflating, but we'll leave it to you to judge. Take a look above.
Jimmy Eat World's new album, "Damage," was released Tuesday and has received generally positive reviews. "Damage" was produced by the band and Alain Johanness, who has worked with the likes of Chris Cornell. It was recorded at Johannes' home studio in Los Angeles.
Rihanna, on the other hand, has been enjoying her Diamonds World Tour, luxuriating at the once home of Coco Chanel hanging out with designers and posting countless selfies on her Instagram.

Jimmy Eat World dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to perform new songs "I Will Steal You Back" and "Damage" from their new album Damage, out this week. "As you get older it’s more interesting to have a theme that everything tries to support – I would say this album has a theme," frontman Jim Adkins told Rolling Stone earlier this year. "I would describe it as an attempt at making an adult breakup record. The consequences to what the characters are going through are more significant."

Gearing up for their first album since 2010, Jimmy Eat World have released a fresh single entitled "I Will Steal You Back."
The song starts out softly but bursts into a rollocking chorus that's in keeping with the band's familiar sound. "I Will Steal You Back" will first be released as a 7-inch single in conjunction with Record Store Day on April 20. The vinyl release will also include a cover of Radiohead's "Stop Whispering," from that band's 1993 debut album "Pablo Honey."
"I Will Steal You Back" is the lead single off Jimmy Eat World's upcoming album, "Damage," which is slated for a June 11 release.
"I hate saying more raw, but it's more raw and warm," lead singer Jim Adkins told Rolling Stone about the new album. "I would describe it as an attempt at making an adult breakup record."

Add this to your growing list of records to look out for: Jimmy Eat World's "Damages," the band's seventh studio album, will be released on June 11.
The project comes after 2010's "Invented" and will be the band's first on RCA.
A press release for the record included a tracklist of 10 songs (see below). "Damage" was produced by the band and Alain Johanness, who has worked with the likes of Chris Cornell. It was recorded at Johannes' home studio in Los Angeles.
"We used tape for the first time in a long time, as well as computer," singer-guitarist Jim Adkins tells Rolling Stone. "I hate saying more raw, but it's more raw and warm. We just set up all around Alain's house. There were instruments in his bedroom and drums in his living room. Just noise all day long. There was less an emphasis on it being clean and perfect.

The stage was set for Jimmy Eat World to become another "one-hit wonder" artist. Their debut album Bleed American unearthed the mammoth tune "The Middle," and it was played ad nauseam on modern rock stations. But something strange happened -- they released countless other radio friendly tunes like "Sweetness" and "Work" -- to name two, delivered a moody, melodic masterpiece in "Futures" in 2004 (methinks anyway), and toured the planet either as a headliner or opening up for mega acts like Green Day or Foo Fighters. The multi-hit wonders are on the road headlining again in support of their Sept. 28 release "Invented," which follows chart-topper "Chase This Light" which was released in 2007. In the inner sanctum of the New York City venue Terminal 5 I chatted with the band (lead singer/ guitarist Jim Adkins, guitarist Tom Linton, bassist Rick...

On Tuesday (September 28), Jimmy Eat World return with Invented, their first album in nearly three years and the first since they rather rightfully assumed their position as figureheads of angsty, punk-influenced (don't call it "emo") rock.
Whether this happened thanks to the success of their Clarity x 10 Tour, held in honor of the 10th anniversary of their criminally underappreciated 1999 album, or the continued championing of their catalog by acts like Paramore, or even the simple fact that — unlike similar bands like the Promise Ring and Jets to Brazil — Jimmy Eat World are still churning out albums, there's no denying that the band's status has been upped significantly in recent years. Though, it might not surprise...
