Exclusive: ITV is hunting down a new detective franchise in Invisible starring The Crown’s Jason Watkins and Cold Feet’s Tala Gouveia.

The British commercial broadcaster has ordered two feature-length films from Victoria and Poldark producer Mammoth Screen. Invisible is written by Robert Murphy, the lead writer on Left Bank’s long-running detective series Dci Banks.

Set in Bath, Watkins, who is playing former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson in season three of The Crown, plays the shy, modest DS Dodds, who is paired with the wildly ambitious Dci McDonald, played by Gouveia.

While McDonald has transferred from the mean streets of South London to leap up the career ladder, Dodds has happily languished on the shelf for most of his working life. McDonald is a tough, driven, battering ram of a cop who cracks cases through sheer force of will and Dodds is quiet, unassuming and enigmatic. But...

You know that scene in The Wrath Of Khan – yes, you probably know the one I mean. The scene in which Kirk bellows an impotent “Khaaaaaaaan!!!!” at the top of his lungs to the frightwigged old goat, who's been cruelly tormenting his bewigged adversary with the threat of being “Buried alive. Buried alive”. Don't you just feel like doing that some days whenever someone's making your day hell? You could yell “Caaaaammm!!!” at chubby chops posh boy Prime Minister for reducing your job prospects and financial status to the level of zero. You could yell “Khaaaaaaannn-fused.com!!!” at the TV whenever that wretched advert comes on TV, starring a cartoon of what looks like a psycho axe murderer who, along with her tone-deaf buddies can't sing for toffee. And now having sat through the two-part A Good Man Goes To War/Let's Kill Hitler, I'm left shouting “Mooooofffff!!!” at the air like an idiot.

Doctor Who returned last week for the second half of its Series Six run and after the break we've got a review of the highly anticipated "Let's Kill Hitler."

This week, on Doctor Who: We met Mels, Melody, and River. Oh, and Hitler gets shoved in a closet.

After a long wait, Doctor Who is back with the misleadingly titled “Let’s Kill Hitler.” Rather than ease everyone back in with a historical romp, Moffat throws his characters right back in it, giving the audience a companion piece to his Series 4 two-parter “Silence in the Library”/“Forest of the Dead”. This time, it’s River’s, make that Melody’s, turn to be in the dark while the Doctor looks on in confusion and pain. Other than giving Rory the enviable opportunity to punch Hitler in the face, the setting of the episode is perfunctory, serving as more of a distraction to...

Even with Torchwood to keep us going, it’s been a dry summer without Doctor Who (although my wife did buy me the first part of Series 6 on DVD, which I’ve been enjoying). And with another week and a half to wait until the series comes back, it’s nice to know that the BBC has released a couple of clips to tide us over.

First is a prequel of sorts, written by Steven Moffat, which doesn’t have very much to it, but it does set the mood for the rest of the series. We get a little insight into Amy’s emotional state, and we see a distraught Doctor. It’s been kind of nice to see the Doctor in such a way, no longer the “Time Lord Victorious”, but someone who has been beaten down and is grasping at straws...

The latest trailer for episodes 8 - 13 of the current series has been released. The second half of the series begins with 'Let's Kill Hitler', written by Steven Moffat and directed by Richard Senior.

Judging from the snippets we've seen so far, future adventures will feature Cybermen, the Silence plus the return of River Song, looking a little different...

BBC has released a great brand new trailer for Doctor Who series 6. This trailer is for second half of the series, episodes 8-13. 

The second half of the series begins with Let's Kill Hitler, written by Steven Moffat and directed by Richard Senior. And judging from the snippets we've seen so far, future adventures will feature Cybermen, the Silence plus the return of River, looking a little different...

There's no word yet on when the series will return on BBC?  But it will return to BBC America on August 27.
