Los Angeles-based producer and global sales veteran Pia Patatian is looking to soar even higher with the launch of her new production, sales and financing company Cloud9 Studios. Patatian debuted the company as Concord Studios on the eve of AFM last year but has since rebranded to the more optimistic-sounding Cloud9 (avoiding a possible copyright infringement case along the way), and is primed, at the European Film Market in Berlin, to bring some much-needed hope to the battered indie theatrical industry.

Alan Ritchson will star in a new Nicholas Sparks movie adaptation. Well, it’s official. Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare won’t be heading to UK cinemas and will premiere on Prime Video at the tail end of July.

The new Guy Ritchie movie, which stars Henry Cavill, Eiza Gonzlez, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Henry Golding, and Cary Elwes, has a reported budget of $60 million and opened with $8.9 million at the domestic box office. However, the movie is already being considered a financial success at Lionsgate because its only theatrical release is in North America, with the international release going directly to streaming, a factor alters the overall benchmark for its box office success considerably.
