Ride will ride again on the CW.

The network announced today that it picked up the 10-episode first season of the Yellowstone-like drama that starred Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing). The series, which follows a bucolic but cash-strapped ranch that’s operated by a widowed parent (Travis) who loses a beloved family member, was recently canceled by Hallmark.

The CW will begin airing the series on Monday, January 22, followed by an encore episode of the new original scripted series Wild Cards.

The network has no plans to order a second season of Ride, at least for now.

Travis plays matriarch Isabel Murray; the drama also stars Beau Mirchoff (Good Trouble), Jake Foy (Designated Survivor) and Marcus Rosner (Arrow) as her sons Cash, Tuff and Austin. Tiera Skovbye plays Austin’s wife, Missy. The first season launched in March on Hallmark.

Sherri Cooper-Landsman served as showrunner on the new drama about a rodeo dynasty with Rebecca Boss and Chris Masi (Our Kind of People). It was shot in Canada.

Deadline asked Cooper-Landsman about the drama’s inevitable comparisons to Yellowstone.

“Honestly, I never even thought about it,” she told us. “All I knew when I read it was that I could be a good contributor because this was just a great family.

It's been an interesting year for Hallmark with the premieres of The Way Home and Ride and countless feel-good movies.

Despite initially touting Ride as a success story, the cabler has quietly opted to part ways with the rodeo family drama.

Ride tells the story of a multigenerational family ensemble and follows the lives of the McMurrays, part of a rodeo dynasty going back a generation, as they struggle to keep their beloved ranch afloat.

"After a tragic loss, each character embarks on an empowering journey of transformation and self-discovery while also uncovering a twisted web of secrets, threatening to tear the family and their small Colorado town apart at the seams," Hallmark teased in anticipation of the series debut.  

Ride also had a decent cast that came from TV Fanatic fan-favorite series, so there was every indication it would be a success story.

TV Fanatic chatted with Tiera about what's relatable about the female-forward series, Missy's potential romance with Cash, and Missy's Frontier gig.

Hi Tiera. I've been a big fan of yours. Can you tell me your favorite part of playing Missy McMurray so far?

I have loved playing Missy. She's such a dynamic character with so much going on. She's dealing with grief and self-discomfort and figuring out who she is, what she wants, and her passions. Playing her has just been so much fun because there's so much to work with.

Missy, Isabel, and Valera are strong women trying to rebuild their lives. How do you think that resonates with audiences?...

Sara Garcia portrays Valeria Galindo, Missy McMurray's best friend and one of the most interesting characters on Hallmark's Ride.

TV Fanatic chatted with Sara about Valeria's past secrets, her close relationship with Isobel, and if Valeria's secrets will hurt the McMurrays.

Hi Sara. I love Valeria. She's become one of my favorite characters on Ride. What are some of your favorite things about playing her?

There are so many things. First of all, she seems to be good at everything. She has many skills, and they show up throughout the season. In Ride Season 1 Episode 4, we saw her as an expert poker player. Since she has many skills, I learned more skills.

I learned how to play poker from a professional. I got to learn how to shuffle cards professionally. That was fun.

She's also complex and layered, and as an actor, I'm allowed to...

TV’s latest family dynasty show is on the Hallmark Channel, and it’s not exactly like others out there: These characters won’t be stabbing each other in the back so fast or easily. Ride follows the McMurrays, a small-town ranching family. Nancy Travis plays matriarch Isabel, who, after losing her husband, has kept the ranch afloat and raised their sons. After one (Marcus Rosner’s Austin) dies in a rodeo accident, Tiera Skovbye’s Missy is left a widow, and she and Isabel work together to keep things going — and help as Isabel’s son Cash (Beau Mirchoff) steps into Austin’s shoes. Within minutes, the McMurrays cemented a place in our hearts, and hopefully, we'll be watching them for several seasons.

During Ride Season 1 Episode 1, the McMurrays banded together to try and save the family ranch.

They also showed that family wasn't always just by blood, and sometimes you were blessed to find another family.

Many long-running family dramas have ended recently, including This Is Us, Good Witch, and Chesapeake Shores. Ride elevates the family loyalty from Chesapeake Shores and adds sizzling chemistry from the two leads.

It takes place on a bucolic but cash-strapped ranch that’s operated by a widowed parent who loses a beloved family member in the premiere episode — all while everyone looks straight-up sexy in their Wranglers and cowboy boots.

But that’s where the similarities to Yellowstone end for Hallmark’s Ride, insists Sherri Cooper-Landsman, who showruns the new drama about a rodeo dynasty with Rebecca Boss and Chris Masi (Our Kind of People).

Hallmark Channel's foray into new original series continues next month.

The cable network announced Tuesday that it will offer viewers a special event night with a double dose of primetime drama on Sunday, March 26.

The big night kicks off with the highly-anticipated season finale of its critically acclaimed, hit multigenerational family drama series The Way Home.

The freshman drama moves to an earlier time slot of 8 p.m. Et/Pt.

After The Way Home wraps its run, we'll be introduced to the new drama series, Ride, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. 

Ride follows the intertwined lives of a rodeo family dynasty.

Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, Evan Williams, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow (The Apprentice) star in The Way Home, which premiered Sunday, January 15, and has become a runaway hit for the cable network.

Over its first three episodes, The Way Home grew from its premiere to become cable's #1 program on Sundays.

Hallmark Channel will start one new series just as another ends its freshman run, when the rodeo drama Ride premieres the same night as The Way Home‘s finale.

On Sunday, March 26, Hallmark’s recently launched multigenerational family/time travel drama The Way Home (starring Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh) will air its season finale in an earlier-than-usual time slot, at 8/7c. Ride will then gallop onto your screens, with its series premiere at 9 pm.

Good Witch ended its widely-praised 14-year-run abruptly in 2021.

Now, one of its stars is opening up about the possibility of Hallmark taking viewers back into the magical world.

“I think there’s a chance. I know [with] the popularity of the show and the circumstances under which it ended sort of abruptly that it would not surprise me if we revisit it,” James Denton explained to TV Insider while promoting Perfect Harmony.

Indeed, the franchise was popular, and its demise surprised many.

However, Denton quickly pointed out that there's "nothing in the works" at this time.

The actor said that Hallmark respects the franchise.
