Five long years after Vivziepop’s 2019 release of the Hazbin Hotel YouTube pilot “That’s Entertainment!”, the animated musical series returned for its first season on Amazon Prime. However, the highly-anticipated release of Hazbin Hotel season 1 brought with it a major change that was met with criticism from the series’ cult following.
Between the 2019 release of the YouTube pilot and the 2024 release of season 1 via Amazon Prime and A24, Vivziepop re-auditioned each major role, leading to a group recasting of Hazbin Hotel. This new Hazbin Hotel season 1 cast was met with a good deal of pushback from Hellaverse fans who had been following the project since its Patreon-funded inception, and vague communication from the show creator led to speculation about the reasons behind this drastic change. However, the fact that Hazbin Hotel season 1 set a Prime Video streaming record seems to indicate that the change may have been for the better.

Vivziepop’s two hit animated series, Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel, exist in the same fictional universe, colloquially known as the Hellaverse. This overlap between the two musicals has created the perfect opportunity for Hazbin Hotel Easter eggs to exist in Helluva Boss, and vice versa. Vivziepop has certainly delivered on this score, with character cameos, subtle background imagery, and many other fun references made between the Helluva and Hazbin worlds.
Season 2 of Hazbin Hotel has burning questions to answer regarding Lilith, the backstory of Demon Overlords Alastor (Amir Talai) and Vox (Christian Borle), and the fate of the Hazbin Hotel after the battle between Heaven and Hell. Likewise, the Helluva Boss season 2 ending has brewed speculation on the newly revealed Deadly Sins as well as Stolas’ future after the trial in “Mastermind.” As fans eagerly anticipate the upcoming seasons, these Hazbin Hotel Easter eggs in Helluva Boss deserve another look.

The DC Universe's first official release has only increased the pressure on James Gunn's Superman, but the film still has a lot going for it. James Gunn's Superman movie is set for release in July 2025 and marks the true beginning of the Dcu's overarching story. Superman is the first movie in the Dcu's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters and, as such, is looking to kickstart the franchise into an age of cinematic storytelling that has been absent from DC for a long while.
Superman's cast of characters is expected to establish the foundations of the franchise, but it is the film's writer and director that faces the most pressure. Gunn's Superman must achieve all of these elements to be deemed a success, all while performing well enough commercially to warrant the complete restart of the DC Universe. Despite the debut season of Creature Commandos coming to an end, star Maria Bakalova revealed her anxieties about voice acting in the Max series. She portrayed the morally complex Princess Ilana Rostovic, the acting monarch of Pokolistan who Task Force M is sent to protect.
In an appearance on Collider Ladies Night, Bakalova stated:
"Kudos to all the voice actors out there. It's such a hard job to do. You basically only use your voice. Viola Davis and Ted Danson got their golden moment a couple of days before the Golden Globes.
On Friday, the duo was feted in a lavish “Golden Gala” as this year’s recipients of the Cecil B. DeMille Award (Davis) and the Carol Burnett Award (Danson) for their respective career achievements in film and television. (Watch their full speeches below.) Traditionally these awards have been bestowed live during the annual Golden Globes broadcast, but that’s not the case this year; instead, Davis and Danson have been asked to present at Sunday’s ceremony on CBS.
Meryl Streep presented the award to Davis, exactly eight years after Davis honored her Doubt co-star with the same prestigious trophy. As for Danson, his wife Mary Steenburgen served as the presenter. The Cecil B. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" first aired on Fox in the fall of 2013, immediately cementing itself as yet another classic from Michael Schur ("Parks & Recreation") and Dan Goor — so why did it end, and will we ever get another season?
The comedy, which was led by "Saturday Night Live" alum Andy Samberg alongside a perfect ensemble cast including Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller, focused on the 99th precinct in Brooklyn and their constant misadventures in policing — and that description alone might give you a clue as to why the series ended if you've, say, watched or read any news since 2020 or so. The show came to a close in the fall of 2021 with its eighth and final season after facing delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but even getting to eight seasons wasn't easy for this little show that could...

Creature Commandos opens its fifth episode with General Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) and Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour) spying on Professor Isla McPherson’s class. She tells the class that the most interesting part of Themyscira is “the lesbians,” of course. Flag and Frankenstein find her behavior unusual, mainly since Waller (Viola Davis) now listens to her.
The deal is that Eric will help the General investigate McPherson (Stephanie Beatriz) and save Ilana (Maria Bakalova), proving that Circe is setting up his lover—not his love—as a supervillain. Flag then assists Frankenstein with The Bride (Indira Varma), which does not sit well with Eric, who wants to get to his part of the deal immediately.

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Creature Commandos episode 5Creature Commandos episode 5 features a handful of exciting Easter eggs and Dcu references. Featuring a return to Pokolistan for most of Task Force M to kill Princess Rostovic, Rick Flag Sr. stays behind due to his doubts about Circe's dark vision of the future being real. This leads to some interesting potential connections to future Dcu projects, the debut of a classic Batman villain, and more.
This new animated Dcu episode doesn't have nearly as many Easter eggs and references as Creature Commandos episode 4. However, there are still some good ones to be found throughout. Here are the biggest Dcu Easter eggs and references we found in Creature Commandos episode 5.

Comedy series and movies come in bundles every holiday season. Most of those bring some instant fun (or not), and only a few make an impact that lasts.
It seems though that the new series A Man on the Inside, created by television producer, writer, director, and actor Mike Schur with series stalwart Ted Danson has hit all the right spots with the viewers, as it hit Netflix’ most popular English TV list, remaining in the Top 10 for three weeks since its release.
The series also got a ‘certified fresh’ mark from Rotten Tomatoes and, even more importantly, a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Charles, the series' main character. No wonder then that Netflix decided to, practically right after its release, extend the series for another season.

Ted Danson is going back on the case for Netflix.

The Streamable’s experts rank the top shows currently available to stream today.
Just about everything in the television and entertainment industries has changed in the past five to 10 years. Not too long ago, the month of September was focused almost exclusively on the return of football and the launch of a new, robust slate of TV shows. However, as cord-cutting rapidly decreased the number of Americans watching television in traditional ways, the release calendar has shifted. So while there are still a number of new and returning shows premiering on broadcast channels during the back half of the month, it is nowhere near the numbers of decades past.
Many of the best titles on TV have migrated from networks and cable channels to streaming in recent years, but with the non-standard release schedules, it can be tough to keep up with what is airing where and when, and which shows are actually worth watching.

Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be well aware of the fact that Detective Rosa Diaz isn’t one for sugar-coating anything. With her tough, no-nonsense attitude, and a sharp tongue that could cut through steel, Rosa is the kind of character who commands respect without saying much. And in many ways, Rosa has been a real-life reflection of the actress behind the role, Stephanie Beatriz.

The actress Stephanie Beatriz, much like her on-screen persona, is unapologetically direct, fierce, and unafraid to stand her ground. So much so that she once shut down an older actor, after he crossed the line, and proved that she was born to play Rosa Diaz, given how she and her character were two sides of the same coin—a whole lot of grit and attitude.

“Now this is a comedy I can enjoy talking about.” This was the first thought I had after finishing the first episode of A Man on the Inside. As a person who despises mainstream comedy but loves Pitch Perfect solely for the sisterhood, I couldn’t help but worry that a show called A Man on the Inside would in no way interest me. I regret going into work the most when I’m assigned reality TV or pure comedies, but this show completely caught me off guard. I know when most people see the list of the shows produced by this guy they’d immediately be on board, but cut me some slack as a fake comedy hater. Also, while I’m going on about humor, A Man on the Inside is actually a spy TV show.

Most of the time, describing a show as something a whole family can enjoy, from age 8 to 88, means a whole family will be fine having it on while they look at their phones. People like looking at their phones, so this is a thriving TV genre, encompassing the likes of Dancing With the Stars, The Floor and Judge Steve Harvey. But with Thanksgiving imminent, and thus the likelihood that you’re going to be gathering near a TV with loved ones of wide-ranging ages, Netflix has made a show the whole family can actually enjoy. A Man On The Inside is a caper, a buddy comedy and a meditation on grief, and pulls off all three effortlessly.

When you watch a Mike Schur comedy, you’re expecting a certain tone. Punchy characters, zany situations, larger-than-life guest stars and light-hearted warmth are trademarks of series like “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “The Good Place.”
So Schur’s new Netflix series, “A Man on the Inside,” may surprise you. Sure, the comedy features another diverse cast with optimistic undertones, but it’s also unafraid to sit in its moments of silence to tackle some of life’s biggest questions in a delightfully uplifting way.
“A Man on the Inside” reunites Schur with lead Ted Danson (“The Good Place”). The project is based on Maite Alberdi’s 2020 Oscar-nominated documentary “The Mole Agent,” in which a man responds to a newspaper ad and becomes a spy in an assisted living community. Here, Danson plays a fictionalized version of that man, named Charles.
When we meet Charles he’s incredibly lonely.

After tackling the afterlife as the architect of Hell in The Good Place and becoming the unexpected mayor of Los Angeles as a wealthy businessman in Mr. Mayor, there was only one thing left for Ted Danson to do: retire. That's kind of what the veteran comedy actor does in his new Netflix original comedy series A Man on the Inside, which comes from his Good Place boss Michael Schur.
Danson plays Charles Nieuwendyk, a recent widower with a lot of time on his hands. When his daughter suggests giving a new hobby a shot, she didn't necessarily mean to push the engineering professor to accept an advertisement to go undercover, but that's what Charles does. He works with a private investigator to be her "man on the inside" at a San Francisco retirement home.
The new series, released Nov. 21 on Netflix, finds Charles looking into the curious case of a stolen necklace.

Due to modern medicine, people are living longer and more fruitful lives, but television depictions of those enjoying their golden years certainly haven’t caught up. There are anomalies, of course, like Netflix’s “Grace and Frankie,” Max’s “Hacks,” and the new CBS drama “Matlock,” but for the most part, ageism has pushed older adults to the outskirts of popular culture. But in his delightful new comedy, “A Man on the Inside,” “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur has reteamed with Ted Danson for a charming and hilarious whodunit that examines grief, love and the excitement of new beginnings from the perspective of seniors.

Don't blow his cover, but Ted Danson's going undercover in a retirement home in his new Netflix original series A Man on the Inside. Inspired by the documentary The Mole Agent, the series comes from Parks and Recreation and The Good Place creator Michael Schur, which gives the comedy both its wit and its sneaky pathos.

Under this advice, Charles answers a newspaper advertisement from private investigator Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) to go undercover in a retirement home to get to the bottom of a stolen necklace mystery.
Even though he's a former engineering professor with zero spy skills under his belt, Charles is very excited to be taking on his exciting new role to find out who's the caper in the retirement home.

Paul Mescal is hoping “Glicked” is the new “Barbenheimer” by urging moviegoers to take in a double feature of “Gladiator II” and “Wicked.”
“I think they complement each other really well because they’re so different,” the Oscar-nominated actor told me at the “Gladiator II” premiere on Monday night in Los Angeles. “And if you love cinema, get out there and support it. Don’t wait for it to come on to a streamer, because we’re at a critical junction. We have been for a little while with theatrical films. If cinema is a thing for you, get out and see both films.”
Fred Hechinger, who plays Emperor Caracalla in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator” sequel, said he’s planning on a “Glicked” day at the theater. “I love ‘Wicked,’” he said. “I’ll sing ‘Defying Gravity.’”
Speaking of singing, Mescal and Hechinger also detailed going to a karaoke bar...

Netflix has submitted a total of 32 TV programs for awards consideration at the upcoming Golden Globes, and 20 for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Gold Derby has learned exclusively.
Some of the streamer’s notable TV titles include Season 2 of “Squid Game,” the survival thriller starring Emmy and SAG winner Lee Jung-jae; popular new comedy “Nobody Wants This,” about an agnostic woman (Kristen Bell) and an unconventional rabbi (Adam Brody); and “Baby Reindeer,” the buzzy limited series that recently set the Emmys on fire, going home with six trophies. See the full list of submissions below, broken down by show.
Note that the Golden Globes have lead actor and lead actress categories that are separated by TV genres (drama/comedy/limited), but that the supporting actor and supporting actress races encapsulate all genres. As of last year, the organization also now offers an award for the best stand-up comedy special on television.
