One of the joys of long-running TV shows is their long list of guest and recurring characters and their big ensembles. It's how shows like "The Simpsons" and "Parks and Recreation" feel so lived-in because the many side characters that populate their worlds help immerse audiences into the story. This was also true in the case of "Bones," the hugely popular police procedural about a forensic anthropologist and an FBI agent teaming up to investigate murder mysteries through archeology and forensic anthropology. The show was popular with critics and audiences alike, lasting for 12 seasons and earning two Emmy nominations.
Like most shows that last that long, what made "Bones" appealing and popular was its cast, from the core ensemble of characters that fans fell in love with to the even larger list of guest stars, one-off characters, and even stars who were in the show before they broke big and became superheroes (and villains). Indeed,...

There’s visual style to spare but precious little narrative coherence in Anne Hamilton’s debut feature set during the Reagan-era '80s. Its storyline revolving around a self-possessed young girl who makes a startling discovery at her family’s financially struggling Wisconsin farm, American Fable possesses an amorphous, dreamlike quality that proves increasingly irritating as it wears on.
The story revolves around 11-year-old Gitty (Peyton Kennedy), who lives on the isolated farm with her caring father Abe (Kip Pardue); pregnant, distracted mother Sarah (Marci Miller); and hostile, borderline abusive older brother Martin (Gavin MacIntosh). Despite Reagan’s promise that the nation is on an...

The Adams-Foster family will have a lot going on when “The Fosters” returns to Freeform Monday night. Several of the show’s central relationships were thrown into question in the August midseason finale, with Connor moving away from Jude — and the two sharing a much-talked-about kiss, the youngest in TV history between two men — and Callie’s official adoption. But according to executive producer Peter Paige, that doesn’t really mean what’s done is done. Because much like in real life, things aren’t that simple on “The Fosters.” Also read: 'The Fosters' Star Gavin MacIntosh on...

The gay kiss on Freeform’s “The Fosters” last year was a landmark moment in TV history, but star Gavin MacIntosh wasn’t worried about shooting the scene. “The producers and the writers were very understanding,” MacIntosh said in an interview with TheWrap. “I didn’t really feel pressured at all. … We were thinking about the people that would be watching it, and it would have an influence on them.” The kiss, which aired last March during the show’s second season, was between the 13-year-old characters played by MacIntosh and Hayden Byerly, and was the youngest gay kiss in TV history.

It’s hard to mention The Fosters, which returns to Freeform on Monday Jan, 25 for the second installment of its third season, without a discussion of diversity. Since its premiere, the show has been lauded for its diverse cast and portrayal of relationships not often seen on television – particularly on teen TV – such as same-sex relationships and those in a mixed and blended family.
Moreover, the show has always used what makes it different – its fearlessness in representing a wide range of issues that affect real teens (and not just the wealthy, white ones) – to create type of drama necessary to fuel and sustain a long-running soap. Unfortunately, the Foster family enters the second half of the third season on shaky ground, and the show itself follows suit – with a lackluster episode that wavers rather than building to an exciting finish.

Wow. It's been quite a while since we've had a holiday episode on Bones. That's exactly what "High Treason in the Holiday Season" gives us, though we don't get to see Brennan determining the cause of death over a turkey carcass like we did eons ago when the Jeffersonian crew shared Thanksgiving. An even bigger surprise is that Brennan has secretly arranged to have a full grown Parker Booth (Gavin MacIntosh) flown in from Britain. Her awkward sneakiness about the whole thing has Booth salivating over Christmas gift possibilities as well as accusing her of having her pants justifiably set on fire fire (as in "liar, liar, etc").
The central issue in "High Treason in the Holiday Season," however, is the delicate balance between American freedoms and their consequences. A prolific political reporter had gone hog wild in using intel from a government snitch to write articles that proved fatal...

In the new, 8th episode press release: The Team Investigates The Murder Of A High-powered Journalist On An All-new "Bones" Thursday, November 19, On Fox. Press release number 2: The team will investigate the high-stakes murder of a political journalist who was found dead after recently publishing an article exposing corruption in the Nsa. In the meantime, Brennan will secretly try to plan a surprise for Booth, and the whole team will celebrate Thanksgiving together.

YouTube's age restrictions exist to keep any young user from stumbling across any uploaded content with sexually suggestive scenes — ranging anywhere from user-uploaded vlogs to artist-uploaded music videos. These parental controls backfired, however, when the site restricted a clip from ABC Family's The Fosters depicting a gay kiss between Jude (Hayden Byerly) and Connor (Gavin MacIntosh). The kiss, which originally aired on March 2, has been praised as one of the youngest same-sex kisses in U.S. TV history — their characters are 13 — which left Macintosh confused when he discovered a user had to verify being 18-plus to view the scene on YouTube. On Sunday, he slammed YouTube in a series of tweets that have since been deleted, saying, "What?! YouTube blocking #jonnor scene w/ age restrictions? 100% discrimination & homophobia! So innocent compared to what's on YouTube!" It seems YouTube took notice of his complaints. As of Monday, the...

The second season of ABC Family’s “The Fosters” concluded Monday evening with buzz to spare, thanks to a recent same-sex kiss between two thirteen-year-old characters that sparked a social media debate. TheWrap caught up with the team at the center of the controversy, actors Hayden Byerly and Gavin MacIntosh, along with producers Brad Bredeweg and Peter Paige at Saturday’s GLAAD Media Awards. “It took a very long time for them to be comfortable and for us to be comfortable doing this, and comfortable with ourselves and our own sexuality before trying to experiment with someone else’s,” said Byerly.

ABC Family’s “The Fosters” drew both praise and criticism this week for a daring gay kiss scene between two 13-year-old male characters. But, the show’s creators said they were merely staying true to their story. “If people want to judge it, I think maybe they should watch and see how carefully, delicately and chastely it was handled. We are not here to sensationalize or exploit anyone,” Peter Paige, the drama’s co-creator, told TheWrap. ABC Family’s “The Fosters” has ignited a sharply divide debate after featuring a gay kiss between two of the family drama’s 13-year-old male characters, marking the youngest same sex kiss in TV history. The intimate moment between Jude (Hayden Byerly) and Connor (Gavin MacIntosh) sparked a flurry of reactions from social media, with some praising the show for tackling such a hot-button issue in an elegant fashion and others critiquing the show’s creators and the network for airing a same-sex kiss between two underage actors. One of the most intriguing storylines on ABC Family’s The Fosters has been the friendship (and possible budding romance) between Jude and his best friend Connor (Gavin Macintosh). For 14-year-old actor Hayden Byerly, who plays the young Jude, it’s been a gratifying experience seeing viewers – young and old alike – engaging in their story.
“It’s incredible to see all the people who are very supportive of my character and the people who really relate to him,” Byerly tells ETonline. “[Jude] goes through so much – it’s always nice to hear I’m doing a good job.”
The producers felt a responsibility to discuss Jude’s arc with Byerly ahead of time and to work in any significant character developments into the show as the actor matured.
