After years of development, the time is nearly upon us. "A Minecraft Movie," based on the wildly popular video game, hits theaters in April. Keke Palmer insists she had no idea that the vintage Chanel dress she wore to the SAG Awards on Sunday was once worn by her “Scream Queens” co-star Jamie Lee Curtis.

“I literally found out after it came up online,” Palmer told me Wednesday night at Vanity Fair and Instagram’s Vanities party at Bar Marmont in West Hollywood. “I had no idea. I just loved the dress. I just thought it was stunning.”

Curtis wore the black and gold gown in 1986 to the first American Cinematheque Award Gala, which honored Eddie Murphy.

Peacemaker season 2 is set to premiere on HBO and Max this August and creator James Gunn has just dropped a first official look at Steve Agee as the returning John Economos.

Introduced in 2021's The Suicide Squad, the character has become a firm fan favourite and, after taking on a key supporting role in Peacemaker's first season, made his Dcu debut in Creature Commandos last year. As Amanda Waller's right-hand man, it's unclear what he'll bring to the table when this show returns, especially as Rick Flag Sr. is expected to be calling the shots in A.R.G.U.S.

This is only the second official image from Peacemaker season 2 after Gunn previously teased a mysterious new villain (we've included that at the bottom of this post). DC Stduios has yet to share anything showing Christopher Smith in action, though promo art revealed the anti-hero's new helmet design last year.

DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran emphasized that the release date for Season 2 of the hit Max series Peacemaker is still on track for August.

In my opinion, it is nothing compared to what Max has in store for us for 2025, as some of the most highly-anticipated Max original shows will be premiering this year. So, let’s find out which of your favourite Max original shows or some incredible new shows are coming to Max in 2025.

The Pitt (January 9) Credit – Max

The Pitt is an upcoming medical drama series created by R. Scott Gemmill. The Max series is set in the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, and it follows the medical staff during their 15-hour emergency room shift. The Pitt stars Noah Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Katherine Lanasa.

In Marc Forster's 2001 drama "Monster's Ball," Halle Berry plays Leticia Musgrove, a woman at the end of her rope. Her husband has been convicted of murder and is executed by the state of Georgia early in the film. Leticia is trying to put her life back together when her son Tyrell (Coronji Calhoun) is hit by a car and dies. Leticia can only find comfort in the arms of a gruff prison warden named Hank (Billy Bob Thornton), whose own son (Heath Ledger) recently died by suicide. What Leticia doesn't know, however, is that Hank oversaw her husband's execution. It's all very complicated, but handled tactfully and with the utmost sensitivity. "Monster's Ball" is a pretty great film.

Exclusive: The Piano Lesson breakout Skylar Aleece Smith has signed with Cultivate Entertainment Partners for representation.

Smith plays the pivotal supporting role of Maretha in The Piano Lesson, an adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Danielle Brooks, and Ray Fisher. Directed by Malcolm Washington, the film, which received the Ensemble Tribute award at the Gothams earlier this week, explores family legacy and the weight of history. We didn't get many Peacemaker season 2 set photos when cameras were still rolling on the HBO series and fans who did manage to take them soon found themselves hit with takedown notices on social media. 

Production on the show recently wrapped, of course, meaning we're now waiting for DC Studios co-ceo and series creator James Gunn to share an official first look at The Suicide Squad character's Dcu debut. 

In the meantime, a new photo has just shown up online with John Cena's Christopher Smith and Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt riding a Tokusatsu-inspired motorcycle. Like the rest of the Dcu, it seems Peacemaker will embrace the wackier side of the DC Universe (though we'd say it's fitting for someone like Peacemaker to have a ride this obnoxious). 

Also of note is the fact we see the A.R.G.U.S. logo on the bike, suggesting they're funding whatever he's up to here!

The arrival of Peacemaker season 2 is getting closer for the DC Universe audience as James Gunn announces a big update for John Cena's TV show. Gunn's DC Universe is set to kick off in December 2024 with the Creature Commandos premiere on Max, and more 2025 projects are also getting ready for their debuts next year, including Peacemaker season 2. While plot details on Peacemaker season 2 have been limited, a new status report is boding well for the show's return next year.

After shooting for more than half a year, Gunn announced on social media that Peacemaker season 2 has officially wrapped filming, with the DC Studios co-ceo having pulled double-duty throughout 2024 by directing episodes of the new season while also working on Superman. Peacemaker season 2 was in the works before the Dcu reboot and the second batch of episodes has just wrapped production according to creator and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn.

A few cast members recently announced that they've finished working on the show but this means filming has officially concluded ahead of an expected 2025 launch next August. A first look is likely a long way off, though Creature Commandos could drop some hints about where Christopher Smith's story goes next.

"And that is a Wrap on [Peacemaker] season 2, including our last remaining actors [Steve Agee], [Tim Meadows], [Sol Rodriguez] [and] [Brandon Stanley] (& our Dp Sam McCurdy pictured here moments after the last shot)," Gunn shared on social media. "Thanks to our entire cast & crew who made this a wonderful experience."

The filmmaker added, "My relief to have a break from shooting after ten months straight is countered by how much I’ll miss all of you!

James Gunn provides an update on the Dcu's Waller show starring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. The Dcu's upcoming Waller series is one of the projects first confirmed in James Gunn's announcement of the Dcu's first chapter "Gods and Monsters". Waller will feature the return of Viola Davis' titular character, who's one of eight Dceu characters surviving the Dcu reboot in the new franchise. So far, Waller's plot and cast are unknown.

Responding to a fan's question on Bluesky, James Gunn confirms that Waller is in active development at DC Studios. Although Gunn hasn't mentioned Waller in recent interviews or announcements, he's still overseeing the project. All further details about the show remain under wraps.

According to DC Studios' James Gunn, two of Peacemaker's biggest stars have concluded filming their scenes for the series' second season. In a post on Threads, Gunn wrote: "And thats a Peacemaker Season Two wrap on [John Cena and Jennifer Holland], who both turned in wonderful performances this season as Christopher Smith and Emilia Harcourt."

The Peacemaker showrunner then added: "To top it off, shooting yesterday was one of the most fun days of shooting I have Ever had! Thanks to the incredible people of Savannah, Georgia for making the Peacemaker crews stay here so special. One Day Left!"
