People who want to see what Brian Stelter has planned for CNN’s “Reliable Sources” media newsletter won’t have to wait as long as they might think.
Starting Monday, “Rs” will publish each weekday morning, Monday through Friday, and the next edition — the first to be issued since Stelter returned to CNN last week after a two-year absence — could post as soon as 30 minutes after the article you are reading right now sees the light of day.
The A.M. posting and the new five-days-a-week schedule -– “Reliable Sources” had most recently been published evenings Monday through Thursday — are “experimental, in beta mode,” says Stelter, during a brief conversation Sunday evening, while he worked on the newsletter and prepared his kids to get ready for bed. “I also think there’s a space to be a little more forward looking to the day ahead,” he adds, noting that the...

Oliver Darcy, the author of CNN’s influential “Reliable Sources” newsletter, has left the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed outlet, leaving the direction of the company’s media-industry franchise in doubt.
A new newsletter from Darcy, called “Status,” landed in email inboxes Thursday morning.
“Drawing on a deep well of sourcing and industry expertise, ‘Status’ delivers hard-hitting reporting and unflinching analysis on the Fourth Estate, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley,” Darcy wrote in an email delivered via the Beehiv platform. “There will be no sugarcoating, no pulling punches, no sparing sensitive egos — just the unvarnished truth about the companies and individuals who shape our world.” He said the newsletter would be published Sunday through Thursday.
One person familiar with the matter said Darcy was eager to pursue his own path and felt he could turn his reporting and media presence into a scalable business. He won’t be the first journalist associated...

CNN has found a new Jerusalem correspondent, one of its pivotal overseas postings.
The cable news channel has named Jeremy Diamond to the role.
Diamond has been with CNN for a decade, beginning as a campaign embed following then-candidate Donald Trump, and continuing on as a White House correspondent, where he covered both the Trump and Biden administrations.
Since the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel and the Netanyahu government’s response in Gaza, including the impact on civilians, Diamond has reported extensively from Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. Now, he will take on the role of international correspondent full time from the region.
Diamond’s appointment follows the move of former CNN Jerusalem correspondent Hadas Gold to New York, where she covers media (Gold and this reporter previously worked together on Politico’s media desk).
He also joins the role at a critical moment for CNN, which is still adjusting...

Updated, Monday 12:06 p.m. Pt: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried to prepare his country for a long war, saying in a televised speech that “this battle will not end until we end and eliminate our enemy.”
“The pictures that you see from Hamas are just the beginning. We have killed many of those fighters. Every place where Hamas is active and working will be completely destroyed.”
Portions of the speech were carried on major cable news networks, with translation. CNN featured a split screen of Netanyahu and network correspondent Hadas Gold translating for viewers.
“We all want results right here, right now, but it will take some time,” Netanyahu said. “But I promise you dear citizens: At the end of the war, all of our enemies will know it was a terrible mistake to attack Israel.”
Warning of “hard days coming,” Netanyahu called on opposition leaders to form...

Google employees staged walkouts at offices around the globe today to protest the company’s handling of sexual harassment claims.
Social media is filled with the spectacle of thousands of Google employees standing outside the company’s offices in Dublin, London, Zurich and Singapore. The protestors are demanding changes in how the company handles sexual harassment complaints in the wake of a New York Times article revealing that two senior executives who were accused of misconduct were seemingly rewarded with exit packages worth millions of dollars while a third remained in a highly compensated job.
