Bruno Sulak
Bruno Sulak (1956-1985), also known as ''the gentleman robber'' and former French Foreign Legion soldier - began his career in crime in the late 1970s with a series of armed robberies of French supermarkets. He is said to take pride in never having injured anyone during holdups in Paris and the French Riviera. In July of 1983 Sulak, tanned and dressed in a tennis outfit, stole an estimated $4.3 million worth of jewelry from a Cartier branch in the resort town of Cannes, France. He made a successful break from Albi prison in 1980, and escaped again in 1982 during a transfer from Montpellier to Lyon. He suffered severe injuries when he fell from the prison building while serving his sentence in Fleury Merogis, France. Sulak died in March of 1985.
