"The Big Bang Theory" ended its 12-season run in 2019, but apparently, it's still a major hit with audiences. According to Deadline, the series was the "most-binged" title in all of streaming in 2024 (which the outlet pulled from a Nielsen report).
According to Nielsen, "The Big Bang Theory" boasted an average of 265.5 episodes per audience member, which apparently translates to 29.1 billion minutes of streaming (which is seriously impressive). The show also managed to place seventh in all of the year's most-streamed titles, and 58% percent of its audience was from the highly valuable age group of 18 to 49. Deadline also noted that, in the Nielsen report, "most-binged" is drawn from shows that have at least 50 episodes ("The Big Bang Theory" has 279) and viewers had to spend the length of a single episode, which in the case of this series is about 20 minutes, in order to qualify. McKenna Grace's Paige Swanson doesn't show up on "The Big Bang Theory." The character debuted on "Young Sheldon" after the flagship show aired its final episode, so her absence is completely understandable. However, Sheldon Cooper's (Iain Armitage) intellectual rival (and first crush) is a big part of his childhood, and it's strange that that she doesn't show up in the final season for one last hurrah. Unfortunately, bringing Grace back into the fold wasn't possible at the time, and the creators of "Young Sheldon" didn't have any more plans for the character.
While speaking to TVLine, co-showrunner Steve Holland revealed that Grace was busy with her movie commitments when "Young Sheldon's" seventh and final season entered production. As such, her services were difficult to acquire, but Holland is happy with the way her story panned out. In his own words:

Jim Parsons, who originated the role of (old) Sheldon Cooper on Chuck Lorre's hit CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," may be hesitant about returning to the role ... but his on-screen wife Mayim Bialik, who played Amy Farrah Fowler on the series, has a very different take on the idea.
Bialik, who recently guest-starred on the NBC reboot of "Night Court", told Yahoo that she had a great time reuniting with Rauch and that she would love to bring "The Big Bang Theory" back in some shape or form. "With all due respect to Jim, I think that there's a lot of interest and love for these characters and I'd be super happy to get to revisit [it] in any way," Bialik told the outlet, keeping Parsons' less optimistic words in mind. The best laid plans for Donald Trump’s inauguration — the pomp and circumstance of the outdoor Capitol swearing-in ceremony followed by a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue — have been stymied by Mother Nature.
With the forecast of Arctic blast moving into Washington on Monday, bringing wind chills in the teens or even lower, Trump said earlier Friday that some of the biggest events will be moved inside.
When Trump and Jd Vance take the Oath of Office, that will be in the Capitol Rotunda, witnessed by a far smaller crowd, perhaps only about 1,000. The parade will be moved to Capital One Arena, about two miles away, and Trump has promised that he will join his supporters there after the Capitol Hill ceremonies.
That said, other indoor events on inauguration weekend will go as planned, with a bevy of parties, balls and cocktail receptions planned for Trump’s ardent supporters and allies,...

It's hard to make a successful network television show. It's even harder to make a successful spin-off of a successful series. Audiences have a certain expectation and, when it comes time to follow another character or two elsewhere, it can get tricky. But CBS hit it out of the park with "Young Sheldon," which focused on a young Sheldon Cooper as he was growing up in Texas long before the events of "The Big Bang Theory," itself one of the most successful sitcoms of the 2000s.

"The Big Bang Theory" lasted for 12 successful seasons, and during that time, the sitcom brought in several characters from Sheldon Cooper's (Jim Parsons) life. His mom, brother, and sister all show up for on-screen roles, and his deceased father gets a mention. That said, not everyone who impacted Sheldon gets acknowledged in the nerdy sitcom. Paige Swanson (McKenna Grace) from "Young Sheldon" doesn't appear on "Big Bang Theory," even though she was a notable part of his coming-of-age years, while Dr. John Sturgis (Wallace Shawn) is also ignored in spite of having dated Sheldon's Meemaw (Annie Potts) and mentored him.
Case in point: Sheldon's Nobel Prize speech in the "Big Bang Theory" finale made the cast cry, proving that it's an emotional moment. The scene sees the socially awkward physicist thank most of the important people in his life for supporting him throughout the years, marking a rare expression of gratitude from the character.

Looming over seven seasons of "Young Sheldon" was a grand tragedy: the family's patriarch, George Sr. (Lance Barber) was doomed by "Big Bang Theory" canon to die before Sheldon went to college. Although the show took some liberties with other elements of Old Sheldon's backstory — for instance, George Sr., played by Lance Barber, is a way better father in the prequel spin-off than Sheldon ever made him sound — the writers always knew there was no backing out of George Sr.'s death. That event was simply too big a part of Sheldon's character to rewrite.
For a lot of the older cast members of "Young Sheldon," this unavoidable tragedy was known from the start. But Raegan Revord, who played Sheldon' cool twin sister Missy, only learned about it after already beginning the show. As she explained in a recent interview:
"When I [first] did the show, I mean, I was nine years old.

Kaley Cuoco's stance on The Big Bang Theory spinoff makes the Young Sheldon finale flashforward scene so much more frustrating. Despite its continued success, CBS canceled Young Sheldon due to canon. Per The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's childhood in Texas ended when he was 14, and despite countless plot inconsistencies in the past, the producers opted to follow continuity. Still, at the very least, Young Sheldon delivered a great send-off to the boy genius and his beloved family with a two-part finale. That said, this doesn't mean that it didn't have any issues, with clear ways to make it better.
The Young Sheldon finale was defined by two big storylines: the death of George and Sheldon's move from Texas to California for his post-graduate studies at Caltech. Because the show wrapped up in a significantly shortened year, Chuck Lorre and his creative team had to be as concise with its storytelling as possible.

"Young Sheldon," the "Big Bang Theory" spinoff that ran for seven seasons, is for the most part a pretty standard lighthearted network sitcom. The main exception to this rule is that, thanks to all the little bits of backstory we got of older Sheldon's childhood on "The Big Bang Theory," viewers knew that tragedy would eventually strike the Cooper family. George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber) would die at some point in Sheldon's youth, we just didn't know exactly how or why.
For seven seasons, then, the sword of Damocles hung over George Sr.'s head, and the foreboding was even worse because "Young Sheldon" portrayed George Sr. as being far more kindly than expected. Sheldon in "The Big Bang Theory" talks about his father as if he was a good-for-nothing drunk who cheated on his wife and never cared for Sheldon, but throughout "Young Sheldon" George Sr. was portrayed as a pretty nice guy.

There are some pretty big differences between "The Big Bang Theory" and its prequel spin-off series, "Young Sheldon." For one, "Young Sheldon" is a single-camera series whereas "Big Bang" was multi-cam to allow for a studio audience, which was a pretty massive change-up for the show's creators. Not only that but "Young Sheldon" is completely different tonally, starting as a pretty standard family comedy before becoming more of a dramedy, giving all new context to "The Big Bang Theory." Instead of just cracking jokes or making references to the later events of Sheldon's life, the series actually expanded upon some of the ideas from "The Big Bang Theory" and made Sheldon Cooper a richer, more complex character. And because "The Big Bang Theory" was written without ever planning on making a prequel series, sometimes that meant they had to retcon a few things in order to make it all make a little more sense.

The pilot season of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage has received mixed reviews, but addressing a select few storylines will make the second half better. The sitcom has already made a name for itself aside from being a spinoff set up by the Young Sheldon finale, but not always for good. The cast of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage have all portrayed their roles perfectly, but many characters currently offer more questions than answers.
Ahead of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode 8, the show needs to decide which characters to highlight in upcoming episodes. While it has both the Cooper family and the McAllisters at its disposal, the short-episode format makes it difficult to include multiple storylines at once. Consequently, even if multiple characters are present, there isn’t enough time to focus on each of them. Still, there are key issues Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) should focus on upon their return.

In the canon of successful TV spin-offs, we must now always mention "Young Sheldon." Taking place in the same universe of "The Big Bang Theory," the sitcom focused on a young Sheldon Cooper growing up in Texas long before he became the man audiences knew, as portrayed by Jim Parsons. When it came time to give his character new life through a younger lens, Parsons was directly involved not only as the show's narrator, but as an executive producer as well. But while he is relatively confident as an actor, Parsons didn't have that same confidence as a producer.
In a 2017 interview with CBS News, Parsons sat down with "Young Sheldon" star Iain Armitage to discuss the show, as well as their relationship. Parsons very much mentored Armitage to help him become the young Sheldon Cooper. But when asked specifically about being an executive producer,...

It's always a nice surprise when a spin-off ends up really becoming its own thing, and "The Big Bang Theory" prequel series "Young Sheldon" grew tonally and narratively to do just that. The series was told using a frame narrative where the adult Sheldon (Jim Parsons) was looking back upon his young life as he wrote a memoir, and the story is a bit more sentimental as a result. Instead of the rapid-fire jokes of "The Big Bang Theory," "Young Sheldon" is more of a dramedy and even did away with the infamous laugh track and/or studio audience from "Big Bang." As young Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) navigates the awkwardness of adolescence (while also being some flavor of neurodivergent), we get to know his family as well. There's his athletic and business-savvy older brother George Jr., A.K.A. Georgie (Montana Jordan), his empathetic younger twin sister Missy (Raegan Revord...

Starring in the "Big Bang Theory" prequel series "Young Sheldon" had the potential to be an intimidating task for Iain Armitage. After all, Jim Parsons' "The Big Bang Theory" character Sheldon Cooper is one of the best-known and most popular contemporary sitcom characters, so portraying a younger version of him came with a whole set of challenges.
Fortunately, the young actor got some expert advice from the person who knew the role best: Parsons himself, who served as the show's narrator in addition to being one of its executive producers. In April 2024, ahead of the premiere of the series finale episode "Memoir," Armitage told Variety about the help Parsons was able to provide him:
"Mostly, just teaching me how to do the accent and the way Sheldon looks at the world. Saying that Sheldon seeks order and has a hard time with social interaction, how it can sort of be disordered.

Chuck Lorre’s The Big Bang Theory and its spin-off, Young Sheldon, have earned widespread acclaim for their unforgettable characters and captivating storylines. However, the shows, especially the spin-off which concluded earlier this season after 7 seasons, have also earned praise for tackling various real-world issues.

Among many issues, such as sexism, teen parenthood, and mental well-being, the spin-off also highlights the emotional toll of divorce on children through McKenna Grace’s character Paige Swanson.
How Young Sheldon tackles real-world issues through Paige Swanson’s story
Season 2 of Young Sheldon introduces McKenna Grace as Sheldon’s intellectual rival, Paige Swanson a fellow 10-year-old genius in Dr. John Sturgis’s class.
Paige, as bright as Sheldon, often challenges him intellectually, sparking jealousy and frustration in him. Unlike Sheldon, Paige is portrayed as more fun-loving and socially adept.

"The Big Bang Theory" ended after 12 seasons because Sheldon Cooper actor Jim Parsons wanted to leave, which speaks volumes of how popular the show was. Had the entire core cast of "The Big Bang Theory" been on board, there's no telling how many more seasons the CBS sitcom might have had in it, especially when you consider how popular its first spin-off, "Young Sheldon," proved to be.
"Young Sheldon" explores the titular character's childhood adventures, with Iain Armitage playing the younger version of Parsons' character. What might have sounded like a challenging premise to pull off proved to be quite successful, with the series ultimately running for seven seasons. While that's five seasons shorter than "The Big Bang Theory," it's worth noting that the show didn't end because any of its cast members were ready to pack it in. Instead, as executive producer Steve Holland explained to Deadline, the makers...

It has to be intimidating joining the cast of any primetime network television show, because you're guaranteed to be seen by millions at the very least and if you don't do well, it could mean the end of the show (and steady paychecks). So just imagine what it must feel like to join the cast of a series that's the prequel to one of the most popular sitcoms of all time — the need to impress would be unreal. That's exactly what "Young Sheldon" star Lance Barber faced when he signed on to play the Cooper family patriarch, George Sr. on the CBS spin-off series of "The Big Bang Theory." It was probably pretty terrifying knowing just how high the fandom's expectations were while also trying to establish a new series, but thankfully Barber had nothing to worry about because "Young Sheldon" became a hit on its own with a pretty...

Audiences really love "The Big Bang Theory." So much so, in fact, that the prequel spin-off series "Young Sheldon" now has its own spin-off, "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage." The latter show follows Sheldon's older brother Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) as he navigates young adulthood and the early years of marriage with his wife Mandy (Emily Osment) and their infant daughter Cece. Like "Young Sheldon," it's more of a dramedy than the flat-out sitcom that was "The Big Bang Theory," which means the show takes some of its emotional beats pretty seriously.
"Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage" is set in 1994, starting only two months after the death of Georgie and Sheldon's father, George Sr. (Lance Barber). By the fifth episode, it's Thanksgiving, which is a chance for the Cooper family to reunite and deal with their grief together ... sans Sheldon (Iain Armitage). The Big Bang Theory extended its successful run with the spin-off Young Sheldon, featuring Iain Armitage in the iconic role of Sheldon Cooper. While the showrunners did an excellent job continuing the story, there were several inconsistencies between the original sitcom and the spin-off.

One notable inconsistency is the often-mentioned Cooper family dog. Despite being referenced multiple times in the CBS sitcom, the spin-off neglects this detail, leaving an unresolved and even conflicting canon issue, especially considering that Sheldon is portrayed as being afraid of dogs.

Though Chuck Lorre has worked on numerous projects over the years, his contribution to The Big Bang Theory franchise is easily one of the most iconic. For one, the work he did on Young Sheldon, Tbbt‘s prequel series, has been deemed beyond epic by the fans of the saga, weighing perfectly between the hilariously entertaining and emotionally captivating elements.

Months after Young Sheldon ended, Sheldon and Mary actors are unrecognizable as they reunite for the first time since May. Despite clamor from its fans and its continued success, CBS ended Young Sheldon so it could stick to the established timeline from The Big Bang Theory. Marking the end of Sheldon's time in Texas, the prequel wrapped up with him moving to California for his post-graduate studies at Caltech. Months later, however, there's still interest in Young Sheldon, especially as its complete run becomes available on streaming platforms.
Iain Armitage shared the snaps of him and Zoe Perry as they visited the White House on his official Instagram page. This marks the first time that the pair has been publicly spotted together since Young Sheldon wrapped up in May 2024. According to Armitage, they were invited to the White House to check out the Christmas decorations. Check out the photos below:...

"The Big Bang Theory" prequel "Young Sheldon" is all about Sheldon Cooper's (Iain Armitage) path from a child prodigy to Jim Parsons' adult version of the character. The prequel approach allows for the inclusion of familiar elements like Parson's narration and numerous allusions to the character's well-known traits and tics, but it also gives creators Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro an opportunity to approach the popular Sheldon in an entirely fresh way. However, making the show wasn't completely without challenges. In an interview with The New York Times, Molaro described one of the things about "Young Sheldon" he initially worried about the most:
"At the time, there were lots of concerns — Chuck and I were just trying to figure out how a single cam worked."
Apart from the obvious changes in setting, tone, and characters, the single-camera approach is indeed one of the most obvious differences between "The Big Bang Theory...

Played by Jim Parsons in The Big Bang Theory and later brought to life by Iain Armitage in its spin-off Young Sheldon, Sheldon Cooper has become one of the most iconic characters from Chuck Lorre’s CBS sitcom. However, while some endear the theoretical physicist, others are put off by his blunt and direct personality.

Although Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 doesn’t include a Christmas episode, the Young Sheldon spinoff’s decision to avoid the holiday is secretly ingenious. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s title alone proves that Young Sheldon’s spinoff is ambitious. The show follows Sheldon’s older brother Georgie as he navigates the newlywed life with his wife Mandy and their baby Cece, working for Mandy’s father and living in her family home until they can afford a place of their own. The problem is that viewers know how this story ends thanks to The Big Bang Theory season 11, episode 22, “The Sibling Realignment”.

"Young Sheldon" chronicles the life of Iain Armitage's eponymous child genius as he comes of age in Texas in the 1980s and early '90s. However, fans shouldn't go into the prequel series expecting every event to line up with what we learned about Sheldon's life on "The Big Bang Theory." For example, "Young Sheldon" introduces us to another child prodigy in the form of Paige Swanson (Mckenna Grace), who's Sheldon's intellectual rival and first crush. She's a memorable part of Sheldon's childhood, so why isn't she acknowledged on "Big Bang Theory?"
The answer is simple: bad timing. "Big Bang Theory" ended after season 12, robbing fans of the chance to find out what happened to Paige after the events of "Young Sheldon." While speaking to TVLine, franchise producer Steve Holland noted that she was only in nine episodes of "Young Sheldon," the majority of which aired after the parent series' final season.

After providing the show's voice-over for its entire run, Jim Parsons — who originated the role of Sheldon Cooper — finally appeared on the first major "Big Bang Theory" spin-off (and prequel), "Young Sheldon" (where the titular young Sheldon is played by Iain Armitage). So, how did he feel about the whole thing? Weird, actually!
Parsons, who appeared on the spin-off as what I can only refer to as "Old Sheldon," spoke to Today before the finale actually aired in May 2024 and said that the experience contained multitudes. Asked how it felt to return to the character and film a new scene alongside Sheldon's on-screen wife Amy Farrah Fowler, Parsons quipped, "Very weird. Also very beautiful."
Don't worry; Parsons went on to explain that because the two shows were shot in completely different ways, it wasn't that weird. "'Big Bang Theory' was always a live-audience show and 'Young Sheldon' is a single-camera show,...

While the Thanksgiving special of the Georgie & Mandy spin-off saw several returning faces from Young Sheldon, including Zoey Perry, Annie Potts, and Raegan Revord, unfortunately, Iain Armitage was nowhere to be seen. Jim Parsons is one of those actors who, pretty much no matter what he does for the rest of his life, is probably going to be known first and foremost as one single character. Parsons not only played the role of Sheldon Cooper for 12 seasons on the wildly popular sitcom "The Big Bang Theory," but he also served as the narrator (in addition to being a producer) on the spin-off "Young Sheldon," which had a healthy seven-season run on CBS. That series concluded with Parsons returning in front of the camera as an older Sheldon to help bookend the story. But his cameo, while very satisfying for fans, was something the actor was hesitant to do.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage co-creator Steve Holland details why Meemaw and Dale didn't join the rest of the Cooper family in the Thanksgiving special's key emotional moment. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage kicked off its premiere season with cameos from major characters from Young Sheldon, including Missy (Raegan Revord), Mary (Zoe Perry), and Meemaw (Annie Potts).
However, if there’s one character that fans of The Big Bang Theory spin-off are eager to see, it’s undoubtedly Sheldon (Iain Armitage).

The beloved and geeky Chuck Lorre sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" ran for 12 seasons before ending in 2019, but fans got an update on how some of the characters fared in the future when the spin-off, "Young Sheldon," ended in 2024. In the "Young Sheldon" season finale, Jim Parsons appeared as an older version of his character Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory" (played in "Young Sheldon" by Iain Armitage), while Mayim Bialik appeared as an older version of his wife, Amy. For fans who were looking for an update on Sheldon's best friend, Leonard (played by Johnny Galecki on "The Big Bang Theory"), things were a little scarce. While none of the other "Big Bang Theory" alums appeared, one very important one was at least mentioned, but details on Leonard were nowhere to be seen or heard.

Despite Young Sheldon having wrapped in early 2024, one cast member has returned to their character for Halloween. Iain Armitage took on the role of the younger version of Jim Parsons' The Big Bang Theory character in 2017, playing Sheldon for 7 seasons until this past May. After the loss of his father, Young Sheldon season 7 ended with Sheldon leaving Texas behind and heading to CalTech to continue his studies, leading into the events of the original series.
Armitage may have only just left the role behind, but the actor revealed on Twitter/X that a turn of events left him donning the costume once more. Check out his post below:
