Tribute screens Dovzhenko films
The UCLA Film and Television Archive and the Hollywood Trident Foundation will conclude their tribute to Ukrainian director Alexander Dovzhenko on Tuesday night with screenings of his 1932 film Ivan and his 1943 feature The Battle for Our Soviet Ukraine, to be held at 7:30 p.m. at the James Bridges Theater in Melnitz Hall on the UCLA campus in Westwood. University of Alberta professor Bohdan Nebesio will introduce the films. Nebesio also will hold a free seminar, "Dovzhenko and the Ukranian Film Industry in the 1920s," in Room 2534 of Melnitz Hall at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
