In November 2021, Netflix ventured into a brand-new medium—gaming. While it had previously experimented with game production and distribution, it had never launched games within its own ecosystem. Fast-forward nearly four years, and Netflix’s gaming library has expanded to over 100 mobile titles and more than a dozen on its cloud gaming platform. However, as we’ve been reporting, things are changing. So, where is Netflix Games headed next, and what does the data reveal?
Over the past six months, Netflix Games has made headlines, but not always for the right reasons. It all started with the closure of a major Aaa studio and then the news that they’re pushing into AI gaming (which went down like a plate of cold sick). Then, in December, Netflix removed over a dozen titles from its catalog. January brought more disappointing news as Netflix canceled several upcoming games,...

To many, Roblox is a gaming platform mainly populated by children. To some companies, however, Roblox is an opportunity to reach a young audience in the space where they hang out the most, within the "metaverse." In recent years, companies have started investing in this future generation of spenders and building their brands from within the gaming platform.
Some names on Roblox make sense, like the adorable and successful My Hello Kitty Cafe and Gamefam's well-made Sonic Speed Simulator, both of which are officially licensed games. Other brands appearing on Roblox are more surprising, offering experiences to the kids playing Roblox that introduce them to luxury clothing and cosmetic brands, potential future career choices, and even cars. Ironically, most of these games don't catch on with the kids on Roblox, but their very existence as official company-sponsored experiences is certainly surprising.

Over the course of his long Hollywood career, the Hollywood actor appeared in a whopping total of 26 John Wayne movies. Between the 1920s and 1970s, legendary movie star John Wayne starred in well over 100 movies, the vast majority being either Westerns or war movies. Based on that, it's no surprise that he would wind up reuniting with some of his former co-stars in another project at some point or another. However, there were some actors in Hollywood that became recurring co-stars and collaborators of Wayne's.
Easily the most high-profile of Wayne's partners in making movies were John Ford and Maureen O'Hara. A celebrated Western icon in his own right, Ford directed several of John Wayne's movies, including Stagecoach, The Quiet Man, and Rio Grande. As for Maureen O'Hara, she was the female lead in five John Wayne movies, each being a standout entry in the actor's filmography. But neither was...

While the influx of new titles in the video game industry is incessant, some of the most worthwhile gaming experiences continue to be classics from decades gone by, including older entries in currently popular series like Pokémon and Grand Theft Auto. It has now been half a century since the commercialization of video games began, and many of the thousands of games released in that time have been important milestones that have pushed the industry forward, while also delighting players around the world.
Some old games are great because they pushed the boundaries of technology, whether through innovative hardware or well optimized software. Others introduced new ways of telling stories, or as great art tends to do, found new ways of representing life in video game format. A truly great game always has a worthwhile lesson that transcends the game itself, influencing other games or even the non-virtual world.

With the score for “Alias Grace” composer Mychael Danna wanted to “honor the period” in which the story takes place, while at the same time putting a “postmodernist shade” on it. He shared musical duties with his brother Jeff Danna on this Netflix adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s novel, which has brought the duo an Emmy nomination for Best Movie/Mini Score. Watch our exclusive video interview with the Dannas above.

French singer France Gall has died. She was 70.
Gall, who owned France’s pop charts for decades and who inspired “My Way,” died Sunday morning in Paris’ American Hospital. Cause of death was a severe infection complicated by cancer, according to her publicist.
Born Isabelle Gall in 1947, she was the daughter of a songwriter who had penned hits for Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour.
After her first theatre and radio performances, Gall was signed to a record label while still a minor, eventually releasing her first single in October 1963, “Ne Sois Pas Bete,” a French cover of the Laurie Sisters’ “Stand A Little Closer.

There is no studio that times their releases more perfectly than Warner Bros. Around the end-of-year holidays there will be gift sets for films like “Elf” and “Willy Wonka.” Near Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, you can expect gift-appropriate releases.
And, of course, they always bring out the war movies and Westerns for Father’s Day in June. This year’s gift idea is a beauty, a massive 40-film, career-spanning set of films starring the legendary John Wayne. From 1932’s “Big Stampede” to 1976’s “The Shootist,” there’s a bit of everything for Wayne fans in here, but more for those who like war movies and Westerns.
Rating: 4.0/5.0

“How come you only show us clips from movies none of us ever heard of?”

Simple and obvious, it still didn’t satisfy her, and the unasked next question in her eyes I guessed to be, “But why do we have to see them?”
