This film was way ahead of its time. One of the characters referred to J. Edgar Hoover as "....a drag queen." In 1971, Hoover was still Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and viewed as a traditional American hero by the majority of his fellow Americans.
This was the only screen acting role for Nick De Noia (Phil the waiter), who's best known as the original choreographer for the Chippendales dancers. He was murdered in 1987 and has been the subject of numerous documentaries as well as the Netflix series Welcome to Chippendales (2022).
Not only were the men featured in the poster art not cast members of the film, but the photos were shot at a different bar.
