In his 90 years, Chuck Berry — who died Saturday in Missouri — recorded hundreds of songs, including 13 top 10 R&B hits and seven pop smashes. Regardless of chart success, his work went on to inspire multiple generations of artists, many of whom paid tribute to the rock architect with covers.
Berry’s final tracks will appear on the upcoming album, Chuck, his first new release since 1979. Announced on his 90th birthday last October, the album features his children, Charles Berry Jr. and Ingrid, on guitar and harmonica, and is dedicated to his wife of 68 years,...

To watch Mike Mills‘ two most recent features, Beginners and 20th Century Women, are such warm and open-hearted experiences that I was led, in my review of the latter, to wonder if he’s ever been unsympathetic to anybody. Actually sitting down with the writer-director does nothing to make me think otherwise, though he could’ve been a total bastard and I’d still want to pick his brain about his new film. It’s too rich and satisfying a work for me not to have many questions.
Also of little surprise is how quickly the discussion can turn towards a personal place, but one doesn’t follow-up a film about the last days of their gay father with a film reflecting on their relationship with their mother and not tip their hand a bit more than the average subject. Don’t think it’s too heavy, though: what follows...

At which point during last night's new Grey's Anatomy episode, "Almost Grown," did you uncork that bottle of extra strength Tylenol, apply a cold compress to your head and pillage your Mad Men tribute bar? Was it when a 13-year-old male with a B-cup asked Karev for a breast reduction surgery, explaining that his peers called him "Booby" at school? Was it when Callie told the Chief how she will never be the lesbian Arizona is during a pitch meeting? Or was it when Mrs. Blankenship herself (real name: Randee Heller) appeared on-screen as a crotchety old lesbian giving McDreamy the business about her partner's brain cancer surgery? See how close your pain readings were to Movieline's below.

I may get a bunch of comments that disagree, but this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy really didn’t do it for me. I found myself losing more interest as each minute passed.
Don’t get me wrong, it was awesome watching my favorite residents become attendings in “Almost Grown.” But even the dark navy scrubs couldn’t make me love the episode.
I did find it odd that the Chief would ask each of the head surgeons what they would do to make the hospital more inspirational with the $1 million grant. Where did he get the money?
Who do you think the donor could be? Dare I say it’s Izzie?
Where did the Chief even get a million dollars, Bailey wondered?
The doctors all had inspirational ideas for what he/she would do with the money, but Bailey had the best point. If you look at...

We’ve watched Cristina Yang go from being the most successful resident at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital to becoming practically mute — and Finally, we saw a glimmer of her old self in the Oct. 21 episode!
There have only been five episodes in the season seven of Grey’s Anatomy, but I was sick to death of watching the formerly brilliant Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) struggle in surgeries, conversations and even at basic life skills because she was still shaken up from the hospital shootings in the last season finale. Finally, at the very end of the Oct. 21 episode titled “Almost Grown,” Cristina reverts back to her old bossy, driven self — and I can’t be more pleased!
In an unprecedented move, the chief puts the residents (including Cristina, Meredith, April and Jackson) in charge for a day, while the attending surgeons fight to get funds for their special projects.

Next week on "Grey's Anatomy", as part of their training, the Chief puts Seattle Grace's residents - including Meredith, Cristina, April and Jackson - in charge. Meanwhile, Derek, Callie, Owen and the other attending surgeons compete for a million-dollar grant. "Almost Grown" airs October 21.
A bunch of "Grey's" news has been sprouting in the last few days. First of all, Jessica Capshaw aka Arizona will be sidelined for two episodes after the October 28 episode. "We're basically playing it by ear," creator Shonda Rhimes told EW. "If she needs more [than two episodes], she'll let me know."
Meanwhile, Kevin McKidd who plays Owen in the series would go behind the camera to direct a series of six "Grey's" webisodes that airs beginning October 14 at ABC.com. "They're based around a new PR consultant's power struggle with Dr. Richard Webber [James Pickens, Jr.], who is trying to turn the image of the hospital around," McKidd told TV Guide.

"Sopranos" creator David Chase has unveiled the nature of the feature film he's written and will direct for Paramount Pictures.
Nearly two years ago, after his award-winning HBO series had run its course, Chase signed to write, direct and produce a drama for the studio. That directorial debut will be a music-driven coming-of-age story set in the 1960s.
The untitled film will be released under the Paramount Vantage banner.
Mark Johnson ("Rain Man," "The Chronicles of Narnia") will produce with the UTA-repped Chase, who also has been a writer-producer on the series "Northern Exposure," "Almost Grown" and "The Rockford Files."...

WGAW to honor David Chase

David Chase, best known for creating HBO's The Sopranos, will be honored with the WGA West's 2008 Paddy Chayefsky Laurel.
The lifetime achievement award is bestowed for outstanding work in television. Chase will be feted April 23 at the WGAW's honorary awards luncheon at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
"We had to give this award to David Chase following the remarkable run of 'The Sopranos, ' " WGAW president Patric Verrone said. "Not doing so would be to deny him the closure that ..."
The truncated quote was a good-natured jibe over the controversy that ensued after Chase ended a six-year Sopranos run with an enigmatic series-finale episode. The episode's meaning became such a hot topic of debate among fans that it was spoofed by Hillary and Bill Clinton in a campaign ad last year.
Chase's TV work includes contributions to Northern Exposure, I'll Fly Away and Almost Grown.
