Lisa Rinna is getting candid about some of her iconic soap roles. The Days of Our Lives alum doesn’t typically bat an eye at anything, but she was shocked when she had to kiss two different men on the same day.
Juicy Drama
Rinna took a trip down memory lane on the Who’s the A**hole? With Katya podcast. The actress was asked to share “the most juicy and exciting” soap role. Rinna immediately mentioned the time when she played Taylor McBridge on the ’90s primetime drama Melrose Place. It was a sultry soap centered around good-looking residents of an apartment complex.
“That was most fun by far,” Rinna explained. “She was nuts. And I could do anything.” There was a time when the script called for Rinna to kiss two men on the same day. “This was so funny. One day, I had to kiss two actors,...

Kristin Davis recalls being told by a producer, “Don’t gain any weight,” while filming for Melrose Place.
In a recent cover story for People, the actress looked back at her time on the hit soap opera, on which she played Brooke Armstrong. And while she has positive memories of her co-stars, she admitted that “there was a general vibe on the set though, that was difficult, about the thinness situation.”
Seeing “every single person was gorgeous and super skinny,” Davis felt like she needed to do something, so she hired a running coach and would partake in back-to-back 90-minute spin classes.
“I was frustrated. I was trying to do the thing,” she explained. “Of course, I’m sure I wasn’t eating, I have no idea. I don’t remember the eating part.”

Ted Danson was 34 when Cheers debuted in the fall of 1982, on the younger side for a TV star at the time. That season’s top 10 highest-rated shows included a few other thirtysomething leads in Tom Selleck on Magnum, P.I. and John Ritter in Three’s Company, but for the most part, the hits of the small screen were built around actors in their fifties (Larry Hagman on Dallas, George Peppard on The A-Team) or sixties (John Forsythe in Dynasty, Jane Wyman in Falcon Crest). By the time Cheers ended a dozen years later,...

The cast of Monk is a big reason why the detective show is still so popular long after it ended, and many of the actors have appeared in some other great movies and TV shows. Each episode of Monk combines a compelling mystery with some crowdpleasing humor, and this could easily fall flat if not for the talents of the cast. Actors like Tony Shalhoub, Ted Levine and Traylor Howard have appeared in other projects that fans of Monk might find interesting.
The cast of Monk had a couple of big changes during the show's run, since Bitty Schram left in season 3 and Stanley Kamel sadly died of a heart attack between seasons 6 and 7. Mostly, the show stuck with the same actors, and this allowed them to develop a hilarious chemistry as Monk took on each murder investigation while trying to avoid all contact with germs, animals, children and anything...

The '90s was a complicated time to be a TV teen. While the kids of "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Melrose Place" were entrenched in constant scandalous teen drama, a gentler, more family-friendly version of teen life was drawing in audiences on ABC. "Boy Meets World" ran for an impressive 158 episodes, from 1993 to 2000, and remains a pop cultural touchstone — albeit not quite as potent of one as its cattier primetime counterparts — to this day.
Like every memorable sitcom, "Boy Meets World" knew how to pick a guest star, and several of the actors who showed up across its seven-season run went on to be pretty dang famous. In a few cases, people who were already big-name actors at the time also dropped in on the kids of John Adams High. Here’s a fun fact to blow your minds: Yes, technically, Knots Landing is a spin-off from mega-hit Dallas. Gary Ewing is the middle brother of Jr and Bobby Ewing, who made one appearance on the Mother Ship show, played by David Ackroyd before Ted Shackelford took over the role for the next decade-plus.
But the original Kl concept pre-dated Dallas. It was supposed to be an American version of the Swedish series Scenes From a Marriage by Ingemar Bergman. That series didn’t get picked up. But when CBS wanted a Dallas spin-off, Lorimar made one of the characters a Ewing, and we were off to the races! You can watch the entire series from the start right here on Amazon Prime. Here’s why you should definitely do that.

Doug Savant, who played Matt Fielding, a gay character on Melrose Place, recently explained why he avoided discussing his own sexuality while on the show. He felt it was important to stay true to the role he was portraying.
On the Still The Place podcast, Savant talked with former co-stars Laura Leighton, Courtney Thorne-Smith, and Daphne Zuniga about the challenges of playing a gay character as a straight actor during a time when TV had very little representation.
When we were shooting all those things and the trailers for the show, I said to Sam, our publicist, ‘Do you care to talk about how we’re going to handle this going forward, that there was a gay character?'”
I knew it was exceptional, and I thought people would be interested. But she goes, ‘Well, no, it’s not a big deal. You’re an actor, you’re just playing a character.

Lisa Rinna is keeping the door open when it comes to a possible return to “Days of our Lives” as Billie Reed.
In a recent interview with Distractify, the actress told the outlet, “Listen, I never say no, really, to anything,” when asked about taking on the role again. She added, “I’m always open to revisiting these characters that I love.”
“You know I love drama,” Rinna continued. “So if it were right, if it felt right, if it made sense. I think I’m always open to it.”
From her interview, it’s understood that Rinna isn’t looking for a full-time commitment right now, and there are reportedly no active plans to revive her “Days of our Lives” character on the series. That said, she did revive the character in 2021 by appearing in the five-episode series “Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem” (Chapter One), an original spinoff that aired on Peacock.

Melrose Place‘s Doug Savant recalls why he evaded questions regarding his sexuality while playing gay character Matt Fielding on the ’90s sudsy teen drama, saying he “felt a responsibility” to not distance himself from his on-screen portrayal.
“I think the most shocking revelation was when the call is coming from inside the house,” Savant began telling former co-stars — wife Laura Leighton, Courtney Thorne-Smith, and Daphne Zuniga — on the Still The Place podcast about what it was like playing a gay character as a straight man amid a television landscape still lacking diversity.
The Desperate Housewives star recounted an instance with a publicist working at the Pat Kingsley-founded Pmk, who repped executive producer Aaron Spelling, in which he said she did not understand the gravity of the representation. “I had said to Sam, our publicist, ‘Do you care to talk about how we’re going to handle this going forward,...

Now that Lisa is no longer on reality TV, it does seem like she's having the itch to return. Would reality TV viewers watch a show about Lisa and her family?

Beverly Hills, 90210 star Jennie Garth admitted she regretted her participation in the CW’s reboot of the nineties classic during a panel that reunited her with costars Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris and Ian Ziering.
“I wish I hadn’t done it. No offense to them,” she said, via People, Sept. 14 at ’90s Con Florida, held in Daytona Beach.
Garth continued, “The producer was a friend of a friend, and I remember he came over in my living room, sat me down, [billed it as] this chance of a lifetime. He asked me to do it, and I didn’t know how to say no then. But the people were very nice and all the best to them.”
For their parts, Carteris said she “never wanted” to join the reboot, which lasted five seasons from 2008 through 2013. “I was so shocked they were doing a new show. I was like, is it like,...

James Darren, the former teen idol and pop singer who played the dreamy surfer Moondoggie in three Gidget movies before starring on television on The Time Tunnel and T.J. Hooker, died Monday. He was 88.
Darren died in his sleep at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his son Jim Moret, a correspondent for Inside Edition, told The Hollywood Reporter. He had entered the hospital for an aortic valve replacement but was deemed too weak to have the surgery; he went home but had to return.
“I always thought he would pull through,” Moret said, “because he was so cool. He was always cool.”
Early in his career, the dark-haired Darren received excellent notices for starring in Let No Man Write My Epitaph (1960) — portraying the son of a hoodlum defended by Humphrey Bogart’s character in 1949’s Knock on Any Door — and for playing the Greek soldier Spyros Pappadimos in The Guns of Navarone...

When Linden Ashby was cast as Dr. Brett Cooper on Melrose Place in 1997, he didn’t know what he was getting into. “It was funny because I was coming out of such a sort of different genre — I’d done movies and an action series and other stuff and then I got on the show,” the actor, who recently returned to The Young and the Restless, recalls. “And I remember coming home to Susan [Walters, his wife, who played Christine Denton on Melrose Place in 1998] and I’m like, ‘This dialogue; I would never have this conversation. It just wouldn’t happen. I would be like, ‘Hey, we’re not having this conversation.’ It was much more talking to each other than I was used to at that point in my life. So, that was hard.” But he appreciated being part of the popular production. “I came on in Season 6, and you were walking into a well-oiled machine,...

John Aprea, a veteran character actor known for roles in films like The Godfather Part II and on television shows such as Full House, died on August 5 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 83. Aprea’s long career spanned over 50 years in Hollywood.
Born in 1941 in New Jersey, Aprea began acting in New York City in the early 1960s before moving to Los Angeles. His breakthrough came in 1968 with a role in the hit film Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen. This opened the door for many more roles in both film and television.
Perhaps Aprea’s most memorable role was as young Salvatore “Sal” Tessio in The Godfather Part II in 1974. He described the role as the high point of his career. To prepare, Aprea reached out to actor Abe Vigoda, who played the older Tessio in the original The Godfather. Vigoda advised him simply to “have a good time.

Actor Andrew Shue has moved on after a messy divorce from former Good Morning America star Amy Robach.
Robach became the basis for headlines with her GMA3 co-star T.J. Holmes as it became public that the two may have been having an affair while both married to others.
At the time of those headlines, Robach and Shue were still married, while Holmes was with Marilee Fiebig.
Robach and Holmes maintain that they had been separated from their spouses while dating.
Ironically, Robach and Holmes’s spouses began dating one another as the former ABC News anchors continued their relationship and launched a new podcast.
During her The Good Half premiere event this week, Shue’s sister, Elisabeth Shue, gave an update about Shue amid his new relationship.

There is a new rewatch podcast for the hit 90s series Melrose Place with some of the show’s past stars. There was no better guest for the first episode than former star Grant Show, who played Jake Hanson on the series. However, there was one moment from the show’s genesis that rubbed many people the wrong way.
Grant had a lot to say about the creepy moments from the series that all started on Beverly Hills, 90210, between Jake and Kelly.
Grant Show Says Melrose Place Would Be “Illegal” Now
For those who don’t remember, there was a backdoor pilot for Melrose Place that aired on Beverly Hills, 90210. In that episode of 90210, Kelly’s (Jennie Garth) family hired Jake Hanson (Show) to build a gazebo in their backyards. While he was working on the gazebo, Kelly took notice, and the two kissed.

Paramount Pictures has picked up the screenplay for erotic thriller Over Asking, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
In what is described as a highly competitive situation, the studio landed the feature spec script from Caroline Dries (Batwoman). The movie’s story focuses on the frightening aftermath that follows a chance encounter between a seemingly perfect couple and a powerful female attorney.
Karen Rosenfelt serves as producer on the project that does not yet have a director attached.
Dries served as showrunner on The CW series Batwoman and was on executive producer for The Vampire Diaries. Her other television credits include Smallville, Melrose Place, Arrow and Gotham Knights.
Rosenfelt was credited as an executive producer on the first Twilight movie and served as producer on the franchise’s subsequent films. She has also worked on such films as The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Me Before You and The New Mutants.

As a Melrose Place reboot is in the works at CBS, the original series is getting a new audio boost.
Three of the show’s original stars Daphne Zuniga, Laura Leighton and Courtney Thorne-Smith are launching a rewatch podcast of the Fox drama.
Still The Place launched today, on the 32nd anniversary of the show’s launch. It comes from iHeartPodcasts.

Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise has existed since 2006, when The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered.
Countless new shows have joined the ranks since, meaning that we’ve met hundreds of cast members over the years.

The Traitors has already proven to be an excellent destination for Real Housewives cast members to thrive. Brandi Glanville and Tamra Judge caused plenty of drama while trying to outmaneuver the other players in the Scottish castle.
With The Traitors Season 3 cast locked in, it’s time to ponder the future and consider which other Real Housewives would deliver if they were asked to join the cast.
