Remake of French comedy film Santa Claus Is a Stinker (1982). Although released in English-speaking countries as "Santa Claus is a Stinker", the film's French title translates literally to "Santa Claus Is Garbage" in English.

When Dr. Kinsky (Rob Reiner) is complaining about Vanessa (Michele Reiner) to Philip (Steve Martin), he mentions that she has twelve pillows, in all sorts of shapes, and at night, before they go to bed, they have to take all twelve pillows, and then in the morning they have to replace all the pillows, for no real purpose. This is the same routine that Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston go through in Along Came Polly (2004).
Haley Joel Osment: As the little boy who points up at Anthony LaPaglia's character near the end of the film, assuming he's Santa Claus. Osment appeared in Forrest Gump (1994) earlier that year alongside Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson's husband.
