Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the finest directors in the industry and proved his worth with only a few films over the last two and a half decades. Anderson’s psychological dramas have starred the likes of Tom Cruise, Daniel Day-Lewis, Joaquin Phoenix, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. In his new project, he has collaborated with Leonardo DiCaprio.

However, there’s one actor whom the director wished to work with. Even after two decades of expressing his interest in working with the great Robert De Niro, Anderson has yet to find a project for the 81-year-old actor. De Niro is actively doing roles in films and television, with his next projects being Alto Knights and Netflix’s Zero Day.

"The Little Mermaid" saved Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1989. It earned rave reviews from critics like Roger Ebert, who wrote that "the magic of animation has been restored to us." It won an Academy Award and a Grammy for the hit song "Under the Sea." Best of all, the film popularized animated musicals; not just animated films with songs, but films with songs that expressed motivation and character as aptly as the animation did. Lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken, responsible for the off-Broadway legend "Little Shop of Horrors," brought their hard-won expertise to a project that was floundering on the rocks. The results didn't just set the standard for the Disney Renaissance; they set the standard for its competition. For the first time in many years, Disney took the lead as opposed to ceding ground to challengers like Don Bluth. Not every film in the coming years would be successful,...

Everyone remembers their first Robert De Niro movie.
Mine was "Ronin," a really great but ultimately minor entry in the actor's canon. I knew enough about De Niro to know that he mattered, that his name should feel italicized when you say it, but even still I was blown away by the then 55-year old -- blown away by his gravity, grace, and the ease with which he made simple moments visceral. Whether you're watching "Goodfellas" or "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle," I'd like to think that he blows everyone away on first exposure.

At this point in his career, Robert De Niro has nothing left to prove. If he were to retire tomorrow, the 77-year-old movie star would still have two Oscars, too many classic American movies on his resumé to count, a greatest-of-his-generation éminence grise status and a legion of pretenders to the Method-immersive throne. Give him a good director (David O. Russell), or a great one (Martin Scorsese), and the gent can still bring his A game well into his autumn years. No one would — well, ok, we won’t — judge him for deciding,...

A 27-year-old Tyra Banks was elated when she landed the role of Zoe, the no-nonsense bartender in “Coyote Ugly.” Although there weren’t high expectations for the movie, which starred a cast of mostly unknowns who play rowdy dancers at a seedy bar, the movie became a sleeper summer hit for Touchstone Pictures, grossing $60 million domestically on a $45 million budget. The female-led cast — including Piper Perabo — were featured on billboards and posters and the soundtrack went multi-platinum, with the help of LeAnn Rimes and songwriter Diane Warren.
Now, Banks tells Variety that she’s been lobbying for years for a sequel. “I’ve had a passion to do a sequel to ‘Coyote Ugly’ for some time now. I’ve even reached out to [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer and the team and the original writer and they’ve had some jam sessions on what it could possibly be,” Banks says. “I feel like...

Amazon is bringing back The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle, and while I was once skeptical the moose and squirrel duo would struggle adapting to modern humor, I'm not all that worried. The new series might be a bit more crass than classic fans may expect, but once you look past all the edgy stuff that makes kids laugh, I think you'll notice in this short clip the core of the show is still there. Check out the clip below, and check out the series on Amazon right now!

Do fans of projectile vomiting and fans of The Godfather travel in the same circles in other countries? Because, from what I can tell from its international trailer, these are the two primary demographics seemingly being marketed to in the second Meet the Parents sequel, Little Fockers. Actually, I guess any self-respecting Godfather fan wouldn't see a comedy just because it heavily makes reference to the 38-year-old classic by playing bits of Nino Rota's score and having Ben Stiller's character labeled "The Godfocker." Especially if it looked as terrible and bodily fluid-filled as this.
In addition to the awfully unrealistic splattering of lasagna puke there's far-reaching squirting of blood during a turkey-carving scene. And in addition to the Godfather parody there's a too-on-the-nose Jaws spoof involving a ball pit. Hopefully the trailer isn't giving everything away and we can also look forward to poop, a Star Wars gag,...

In honor of this week’s The A-Team, we decided to look back at some of the best and worst films based on TV shows. The A-Team, which hits theatres June 11th, stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
Based on the 1980’s television show of the same name, the film tells the story of a group of Iraqi War veterans who are framed for a crime they didn’t commit. Now fugitives on the run, they try to clear their name while finding the guys who set them up. This is one of my most anticipated films of the summer as I’m a huge fan of both Neeson and Cooper.
Let’s look back at some great and not-so-great big movies that come from the small screen.
I just want to clarify, the films I’m talking about are not films that use the...

One of my favorite things to do in Seriously Random Lists, inexplicably, is to look back at forgotten actors and actresses who, inexplicably, fell into the cracks of the Hollywood studio system and, essentially, disappeared -- I call it the Rae Dawn Chong Effect (formerly the Shelley Long Effect). We're dealing here with only a decade in time, so most of these names -- I suspect -- will still be familiar to most of you, and a few of them still exist on the fringes. But if you compare where they were during the first half of the decade with where they ended up, it's clear that the Rae Dawn Chong Effect has taken hold, and soon they, too, will completely fall into the rabbit hole, never to be seen again, except in straight-to-dvd offerings and as patients in medical dramas.

Everybody who has been fretting over Robert De Niro’s career of late can collectively exhale a sigh of relief. After carpet bombing the cinematic landscape with stinkers like The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Hide and Seek, Godsend, and Righteous Kill, De Niro finally settles into a nice little film devoid of gimmicks and action. Playing the widowed patriarch of four grown children, De Niro gives a quietly nuanced performance that grounds the film, and makes you remember why you liked him to begin with.
Everybody’s Fine tells the story of a very ordinary family and the events surrounding a holiday gathering. Frank Goode (Robert De Niro) is recently widowed, and has made plans to have all four of his grown children visit him for Christmas. He prepares the house, buys the groceries, purchases a new grill, and awaits their arrival. One by one each child calls and...

Seinfeld Knocks Former Sitcom Co-stars
Jerry Seinfeld has made barbed jibes at the expense of his former sitcom co-stars at a surprise comedy club appearance. Guests at the Comedy Cellar in New York's West Village were astonished when the millionaire comic took to the stage. And after a 20-minute stand-up routine, Jerry invited questions from the audience. In reply to a question about a Seinfeld revival, Jerry quipped, "Yes, when all of our careers turn to s**t, and two are down already." His comments were aimed at actor Michael Richards (Kramer), whose sitcom was axed after a poor critical and audience reception, and Jason Alexander (George), whose turn as Boris Badenov in the recent The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle, doesn't seem to have been the wisest choice.

Dirty Hair Almost Cost Piper Her Role
Piper Perabo thought she had messed up her screen test for Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, The (2000) - because she had dirty hair. Not long into her audition, director Des McAnuff drew attention to the sexy star's straggly locks. She insists, "My hair was not that dirty. It was just kind of like a grunge look. But I went in and after two scenes he said, `do you have a comb or a brush or something? Your hair is a just a little dirty' The camera guy lent me his comb and we combed out my hair. Once I got the part he was always coming to check if my hair was clean." She explains, "I had spent all my money on a plane ticket to L.A. and I asked a friend if I could stay at their place.
