Outrageous contageous episode all about Jethro believing his time has FINALLY come to crash Hollywood. No secret he's been diligently trying to hit movie screens, but just how to do it? That's the BIG question -- for which there's no answer.
Jethro once again hooks up with screen star Dash Riprock (Larry Pennell) and auditions for a sprawling western, although it's Cousin Bessie (none other than Judy the Chimp) who gets rave revues and a chance at stardom? In real life, Judy was famous, appearing a lots of tv shows, and very talented in her own right.
More applause for the wardrobe folks, this time coming up with the most "colorful" western costumes for Jethro. He's sporting a 10 gallon hat and in full dress on top of a horse. Must See TV. Hilarious scene finds Miss Jane --who also wants to crash Hollywood -- auditioning for Dash. He asks her to whinny like a horse? If actress Nancy Kulp actually did the horse's voice, she should have gotten an award!
Special guest star is Theodore Marcuse as movie director Otto Von Schlepper, a take-off on silent film director Erich Von Stroheim. Marcuse played some of the best villains on shows like HOGANS HEROES and WILD, WILD WEST. He died in a car crash shortly before this episode was aired, a tragic loss, although he had filmed many projects which would air well into the following year.
Top direction by producer Guy Scarpitta and creative writing by Mark Tuttle. 10 Stars.
The goofy title is based on the popular 60s western series, CIMARRON STRIP.
Dedicated to all us Jethro fans. SEASON 6 EPISODE 15 remastered. According to Amazon, season 6 through 9 episodes are scheduled to be remastered on blu ray by 2027. Season 1 through 5 are on dvd.
