Anne Hathaway is poking some fun at her former co-star Jeremy Strong.
For the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, the actor wore a mint green velvet bucket hat and matching suit from Loro Piana which stirred some online reaction.
One notable reaction however was from Strong’s Armageddon Time co-star Hathaway who took to Instagram to joke about Strong’s look while congratulating him on his nomination. Strong was nominated for his role as the lawyer Roy Cohn in Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice.
In her post, Hathaway shared a photo of herself as Mia Thermopolis in the 2001 film in a scene where she wears a similar looking bucket hat in order to hide her new hair makeover.

“Have you ever wondered what makes a Christmas story a Christmas story?”
This is the underlying question to the Disney+ short film An Almost Christmas Story, and producer Alfonso Cuarón heartily laughs at the notion that he and director David Lowery were trying to settle the age-old debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not. The 24-minute animated short — Cuarón’s third-and-final installment in his holiday collection that dates back to 2022 — is based on the true story of an owl that was rescued from the Rockefeller Plaza Christmas tree in 2020. Cuarón’s story, in tandem with Lowery and Jack Thorne’s script, teaches their young owl named Moon (Cary Christopher) what Christmas is as he seeks to reunite with his family.
Ultimately, the Oscar-winning Cuarón believes that the definition of a Christmas story doesn’t have to be broken down into an exact science. Die Hard may...

Ever since his Venice Silver Lion winning first movie Little Odessa way back in 1995, James Gray has time and again proved himself one of America's most introspective, thoughtful filmmakers. From the railroad drama of The Yards, to inner and outer Odyssean epic The Lost City Of Z, to space bound father-son fictive Ad Astra, Gray's movies are always worth paying close attention to. Now, having made perhaps his most personal film yet in the shape of 2022's Armageddon Time, the auteur is reuniting with his leads from that picture and welcoming a new face into the Gray fray for his latest. Per Deadline's reporting, Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong are set to star alongside Adam Driver in Paper Tiger, an original crime thriller directed and penned by Gray himself.

Following his “Armageddon Time” drama, filmmaker James Gray has been attached to direct a series about the life of Norman Mailer and a biopic about a young John F. Kennedy. Still, sometimes, projects in Hollywood come together fast, especially when there’s a hot cast attached. And that’s precisely what’s happened with “Paper Tigers,” a new project that Gray will write and direct starring Academy Award nominee Adam Driver, Emmy and Tony Award winner Jeremy Strong, and Academy Award Winner Anne Hathaway.

James Gray, the director of “Ad Astra,” has revealed his next film, an original screenplay and crime drama called “Paper Tiger.”
Gray’s latest film, his ninth feature, will star Adam Driver and will reunite him with his stars from 2022’s “Armageddon Time,” Jeremy Strong and Anne Hathaway.
“Paper Tiger” is described as a tense and gritty story about two brothers pursuing the American Dream, only to become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true. As they try to navigate their way through an ever-more dangerous world of corruption and violence, they find themselves and their family brutally terrorized by the Russian “Mafiya.”
The film is being launched to buyers at next week’s AFM, with CAA Media Finance handling U.S. rights and Vincent Maraval and Kim Fox’s The Veterans handling international sales. The worldwide rights to the film are available.

While it looked like James Gray was going to follow up Armageddon Time with either a John F. Kennedy biopic or the ghost story Ezekiel Moses, one of America’s great filmmakers will be instead shifting gears to a new project.
Gray will next direct Paper Tiger, based on his own script, with a cast led by Adam Driver and Armageddon Time stars Jeremy Strong and Anne Hathaway. With production kicking off early next year, Paper Tiger is described as a tense and gritty story of two brothers who pursue the American Dream, only to become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true. Shut up! A Princess Diaries 3 is in the works with a scribe, director and star Anne Hathaway attached.
The first film, starring Hathaway, Julie Andrews, Hector Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, Caroline Goodall, Mandy Moore, Sandra Oh and more in 2001. A sequel, Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, arrived in 2004 with the addition of Chris Pine as Nicholas Devereaux and John Rhys-Davis as Viscount Mabrey.
For everything we know about Princess Diaries 3, read on.
When is Princess Diaries 3 coming out?
The film is still in the early stages, so a release date wouldn’t be set for a while as it hasn’t even gone into production yet.
Will Anne Hathaway be back for Princess Diaries 3? Who else will be in the film?
Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis Renaldi, Genovian princess. She confirmed her return for the threequel on Instagram, proving miracles do, indeed, happen.

Isabelle Huppert on Her Rumored Feud with James Gray and Why Nicole Kidman Won Venice for ‘Babygirl’
Watching “Babygirl” at the Venice Film Festival, I thought, “Isabelle Huppert is going to like this.” Here is a provocative movie, directed by Halina Reijn, starring Nicole Kidman as a corporate CEO engaging in kink and sexually submitting herself to a younger intern (Harris Dickinson). Kidman’s Romy cuts a powerful silhouette in the office by day, but by night, she’s on all fours being dominated in increasingly adventurous sexual encounters.
With Huppert as jury president, it was no surprise when Kidman won Best Actress, as Huppert famously stars in the darkly perverse “The Piano Teacher,” a movie Reijn’s script is surely in deep conversation with. In the 2001 Michael Haneke film, Huppert played a stoic music instructor who becomes sexually overpowered by a younger pupil. I went into “Babygirl” expecting the American version of “The Piano Teacher,” though Reijn’s film is more buoyantly sex-positive than sinisterly Freudian.

The 4:30 Movie writer-director Kevin Smith is well aware that filmmakers are in a self-reflective phase, especially after the wake-up call that was the recent global pandemic. In the past few years alone, Kenneth Branagh (Belfast) and James Gray (Armageddon Time) have made period dramas based on their childhoods, but most notably, Steven Spielberg put out The Fabelmans in 2022, detailing how his parents’ divorce intersected with his budding filmmaking prowess. Smith’s 16th feature about his four first loves — his neighborhood movie theater, his adolescent crush and his two best friends — is already being compared to Spielberg’s most recent Oscar-nominated film.
“A lot of nice people online have been saying that [The 4:30 Movie] is kind of like The Fabelmans, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s sweet.’ And then The New York Times was like, ‘Yeah, it’s kind of like The Fabelmans if the kid grows up to make terrible movies,...

A few key stories have emerged with the dust settling on the 77th Annual Tony Awards. One, we should have seen “Merrily We Roll Along” when we had the chance (it closes July 7!). Two, it’s great that Brooke Shields has broken the Crocs-red carpet barrier. And three, why does Eddie Redmayne singing directly into the camera give us the willies?
With that out of the way, though, awards-obsessives can crack out their abacuses and start making charts to see who is getting closer to achieving Egot status.
Egot, of course, stands for Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, Tonys, and while Sunday night didn’t put anyone over the top, we have a few celebs who can start giving it serious thought.
Sarah Paulson won her first Tony for Best Actress in a Play, for Branden Jacobs-Jenkens’s dysfunctional family drama “Appropriate.” Paulson is a seven-time Emmy nominee and one-time winner for “The People vs.

Vashon Film Institute has set the date for the third annual Vashon Island Film Festival, which is slated to take place Aug. 8-11. The announcement comes with the launch of two new divisions of the Vashon Film Institute and a new donation arm, which accepts restricted funds to be used solely to fund improvements at the Vashon Theatre.
Vfi’s new divisions are the Quartermaster Lab, a collective of filmmaking programs, and VFIpresents, its sales, distribution and release division, which will also focus on organizing community events outside Viff.
“The quintessential goal in founding Vfi was to support independent filmmaking in the Pacific Northwest,” said Mark Mathias Sayre, founder of Vashon Film Institute. “To that end, Viff has already brought compelling indie features and documentaries to local audiences and will continue to do so. But that’s only part of the game plan: We’re equally committed to engendering the...

Succession fame Jeremy Strong has joined forces with The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli in a new Broadway project. Former Yale student Strong mostly appeared as an actor in stage plays. His breakthrough role did not come until 2018 when he starred as the middle son Kendall Roy in the comedy-drama TV series Succession.

On the other hand, Imperioli has been in the entertainment industry for much longer than Strong. Although he has worked with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, he is best known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos. Fans of these shows seem to have won as they feast their eyes on these actors in the Broadway revival of a 140-year-old play.

While in many passages his finest work, Ari Aster’s Beau Is Afraid certainly wasn’t widely embraced as his previous films, but thankfully the results haven’t left him in director’s jail. A24 is reteaming with the director for his next feature, the long-rumored contemporary western Eddington, and as production begins in Albuquerque the main ensemble has been unveiled.
Set to star Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, and Clifton Collins Jr., here’s a synopsis Production Weekly shared some time ago: “A contemporary western set during the pandemic, described as a noir dark comedy ensemble piece set in a fictional copper mining town in New Mexico. While driving through New Mexico on their way to Los Angeles, Lindsay and Marc run out of gas just outside of the rural town of Eddington, New Mexico. When going into the town...

The wrestling drama The Iron Claw has quietly grossed $31.5 million domestically at the box office since its Christmas launch, a veritable fortune for an independent film in the post-pandemic age and one of the best showings ever for distributor A24. And it isn’t the only specialty movie doing impressive business these days thanks to a powerful new ally: younger adults.
For years, art house movies relied on the “elderverse,” as one indie executive puts it — i.e., moviegoers over age 35 or 40. But that relationship collapsed during the Covid-19 crisis and has yet to be fully restored. At the same time, the 18-to-34 crowd started snubbing once-surefire genres like superhero fare and began venturing beyond their comfort zone. “Also, people are realizing that streaming is leveling off. There’s less good content to watch at home,” adds Neon distribution chief Elissa Federoff.

All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt (Raven Jackson)
A film that feels uprooted from deep beneath the earth, Raven Jackson’s poetic, patient debut is a distillation of cinema to its purest form, a stunning patchwork of experience and memory. Tethered around the life of Mack, a Black woman from Mississippi, as we witness glimpses of her childhood, teenage years, and beyond, All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt becomes a sensory experience unlike anything else this year. Shot in beautiful 35mm by Jomo Fray and edited by Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s collaborator Lee Chatametikool, there’s a reverence for nature and joy for human connection that seems all too rarified in today’s landscape of American filmmaking. – Jordan R.

Anne Hathaway is reflecting on how she was told when she was young that she would only be successful until she hit a certain age.
In an interview with Porter Magazine, the actress opened up about her decades-long career and major fashion moments of the last year, at the hand of stylist Erin Walsh.
“When I started out [in this industry] as a child, I was warned that my career would fall off a cliff at the age of 35, which is something I know a lot of women face,” Hathaway told the publication. “The thing that has evolved during [that time] is that more women are having careers deeper into their lives, which I think is fantastic.”
However, she acknowledged there is still progress to be made.

Well, looks like another invite got lost in the mail! Jessica Chastain and Jeremy Strong had a late-night dance party in a video shared to Instagram on Sept. 23. In the clip, which offered a glimpse into their longtime friendship, the two actors wore sunglasses and danced around their hotel room as Madonna's "Hung Up" played in the background. Strong also seemed to be responsible for lighting, stepping on the hotel lamp to the beat of the music before disappearing behind a curtain. "This is what happens when you let Jeremy Strong and I stay up past our bedtimes #4Am," Chastain wrote.
Unsurprisingly, this isn't the first time Chastain and Strong have partied together. In fact, their impromptu hotel music video is actually just a small part of a friendship that spans more than 20 years. In that time, the actors have worked together on three films, including "Zero Dark Thirty,...

Actor Anne Hathaway broke into the Hollywood scene as a teenager. Her talents were spotted right away, and Hathaway soon became one of the biggest film stars of the early 2000s. While her initial roles were quite tame, Hathaway soon found herself in more risque scenarios as her career progressed.

While the birthday suit look was called for in most of these situations, on one occasion, Hathaway stripped down in front of the entire film crew by accident. The two-time Oscar winner makes a convincing play for a third statuette in the powerful story of Nicholas Winton who saved Jewish children before the war began
It seems strange that an actor of Anthony Hopkins’ prestige and acclaim would need a comeback so late in his career but for a few years, the Oscar-winner was stuck in a cycle of thankless sequel paycheques and one-word thrillers where the “and” credit was starting to lose its lustre (Collide! Solace! Misconduct! Blackway!). Within the space of a year he was then Oscar nominated for The Two Popes and won for The Father (his first Academy attention since 1998) and while, it didn’t exactly curb his predilection for B-movies completely, it did edge him back toward substance, with a subtle yet scene-devouring turn in James Gray’s Armageddon Time and now, another knockout performance in second world war drama One Life.

Armageddon Time (James Gray)
Armageddon Time is the sort of film usually invoked as a “portrait of the nation” or “state of the union address,” something taking the temperature of a country—most likely the United States—at a particular time in history. But it’s also a work that makes self-consciousness a virtue: its wonderful writer-director, James Gray, is informed up to his eyes about the virtues and pitfalls of films like these, and here makes something so idiosyncratically his own but that audiences and critics might still mislabel with one of those aforementioned ideas. – David K. The ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike casts a cloud over what otherwise promises to be a solid Cannes film market. Most buyers and sellers came out of Berlin this year “cautiously optimistic” as the (partial) resurgence of the theatrical market alongside a slowly but steadily growing digital ancillary business offers reason to believe reports of the death of the indie industry — widespread in the wake of the Covid theater shutdowns — have been greatly exaggerated.
“I see the investment by Amazon and Apple TV in the theatrical business as a real positive,” says David Garrett of Mister Smith Entertainment, “because it shows they recognize the real value of the theatrical experience.” Amazon’s success with Ben Affleck’s sports-marketing biopic Air, which grossed upwards of $80 million worldwide in theaters before going out online, bodes well for the upcoming rollout of Apple’s Cannes title Killers of the Flower Moon from Martin Scorsese,...

Well-intentioned films about marginalized people face the pitfall of reducing characters’ lives to their experience of persecution. Black characters in Hollywood’s anti-racist parables tend to stand in for a monolithic Black experience, while gay characters have often been defined solely by their sexuality. Emanuele Crialese’s autobiographical L’Immensita, a drama about a transgender preteen, Adri (Luana Giuliani), in early-’70s Italy, skirts this trap by capturing the textures and tensions of a life that’s not defined solely by anti-trans oppression.
As the film depicts with a certain resigned whimsy, Adri not only copes with routine teenage angst, but is also caught within a web of intersecting inequities, including domestic abuse, sexual harassment, and class prejudice. By turns wry and tragic, but never glib or mawkish, this is a visually rich and evocative drama about navigating the often treacherous path to adulthood.

Succession star Jeremy Strong will lead a planned revival of Henrik Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People on Broadway in early 2024.
The 16-week limited engagement will feature a new book by Amy Herzog, who adapted Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, which is currently running on Broadway. Sam Gold, director of Fun Home and A Doll’s House, Part 2, will helm the show.
The Broadway theater and exact dates for the revival have not yet been announced.
Strong, who is an Emmy and Golden Globe winner for his role as Kendall Roy on Succession, began his career off-Broadway and previously appeared on Broadway in the 2008 revival of A Man For All Seasons, starring Frank Langella.
He recently starred alongside Anne Hathaway and Anthony Hopkins in James Gray’s Armageddon Time and has previously appeared in Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7, as Vinny Daniel in Adam McKay’s The Big Short,...

Having explored the darker side of corporate amorality and greed in “Succession,” Jeremy Strong will delve into a more small town version of corruption. The Emmy winner is set to star in a new Broadway production of “An Enemy of the People,” Henrik Ibsen’s classic story of a medical officer whose scientific findings leave him pushing to close the spa that is his community’s main source of economic life. It does not go well…
Well, at least that’s the story Ibsen spun. This time Amy Herzog, who recently brought a paired down version of Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” to Broadway, is adapting the story, so it could be quite different. Sam Gold, who has impressed and alternately alienated critics with his radical re-imaginings of “The Glass Menagerie” and “King Lear,” will direct. The production will premiere on Broadway in early 2024 at a theater to be announced.

Aziz Ansari is heading back to the director's chair to make his first feature film ... again! In case you forgot, Ansari was set to make his directorial debut with the film "Being Mortal," which was shut down following sexual harassment allegations lodged against the film's star, Bill Murray. It seemed as if the film-directing career of Ansari, who was also accused of sexual misconduct in 2018, was over before it even began. Then again, this is Hollywood, baby! Of course, Aziz Ansari, a seven-time Emmy nominee and two-time winner, is still getting the opportunity to make a high-profile comedy film with a star-studded cast!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ansari is making his actual feature directorial debut with the film "Good Fortune." Not to be confused with Fortune Feimster's hilarious stand-up special of the same name, not much is known about "Good Fortune" outside of the fact Ansari is starring alongside Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves.
