Did Jim Carrey earn handsomely by making a bold move? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Known for hilarious hits like Dumb and Dumber and deeply nuanced roles in movies like The Truman Show, Jim Carrey proved time and again that he could bring any character to life. But there was a twist in his career where a bold, unconventional deal turned into a jackpot.
After a couple of setbacks, including Fun with Dick and Jane, Carrey found himself doubting his choices and career direction. Instead of sinking into self-pity, he took a gamble on Yes Man. But here’s the kicker—Carrey didn’t take a paycheck upfront. Instead, he made an audacious move by negotiating a deal to get 36.2% of the profits. Yeah, you heard that right. There is no upfront cash, just a percentage of whatever Yes Man would make.
Most actors would’ve laughed at this deal for being too risky,...

While once the industry norm, since the 2010s, Hollywood has notably shifted away from mid-budget productions, at least on the mainstream level, making big-budget productions their priority. And the root cause for it can be tied to the superhero industry, especially the MCU, which had a stranglehold at the box office with nearly all of its productions in the last decade.
However, the genre that suffered the utmost consequences following the rise of superhero productions was comedies, which led Zooey Deschanel to believe her career was dead as a result.

Jamie Otis has come a long way since their trailer park days, but that doesn’t mean she’s been able to put the past behind her.
While she’s living a beautiful life today with a stunning home, a doting husband, and two lovely kids, her life was far from perfect growing up.
Admittedly, Jamie was once embarrassed about their poor upbringing, and she recently reflected on that on social media.
When we first met Jamie in 2014, during the first season of Married at First Sight, she was honest about her upbringing.
Not only did she tell her new husband, Doug Henher, about her past, but she also took him to the trailer park where she once lived with her siblings and her mom-who was hooked on drugs.
It was an emotional moment for Jamie, who, by that time, had already left that life behind and was working as a registered nurse.

Actor Peter Spellos had over 150 screen acting and vocal performance credits to his name, but genre fans are most likely to remember him as Orville Ketchum from the slasher movie Sorority House Massacre II and its companion piece Hard to Die, as well as the brief appearance he made as the character Tracy’s father in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare. Outside of horror, he’s best known for providing the voice of Sky-Byte in 39 episodes of the animated series Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Unfortunately, we have very sad news to share today, as it has been confirmed that Spellos has passed away at age 69 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on March 1, 1954, Spellos passed away yesterday, November 19th, at the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. His brother, James Spellos, notified TMZ that his family is planning an online “celebration of life” gathering for his fans.

Former sitcom star and high-profile member of the Church of Scientology Danny Masterson has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for violent crimes a jury says he committed during the height of his "That 70's Show" fame, per Variety. The actor was sentenced today on charges of forcible rape stemming back to the early 2000s; he was found guilty on two of the counts, while the jury reportedly ended up deadlocked on a third charge.
Masterson was once known for playing Steven Hyde, an anti-authority teen stoner and fan-favorite character on the long-running sitcom "That '70s Show." His other credits include movies like "Yes Man" and "Dracula 2000" and roles on sitcoms like "Men at Work" and "The Ranch" (the latter a Netflix series that reunited Masterson with former "'70s Show" costar Ashton Kutcher before he was fired in 2017). Zooey Deschanel has been in the public eye for nearly three decades, and she's accomplished quite a bit in her lifetime. She made her film debut in the 1999 film "Mumford," but arguably became well-known after starring in the beloved 2003 Christmas flick "Elf." Following her success from "Elf," Deschanel appeared in a number of popular movies throughout the remainder of the 2000s, including "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," "Yes Man," and the indie rom-com "500 Days of Summer" alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Film is not the only place Deschanel is popular, however. She is also well-known for her role as Jessica Day in the sitcom "New Girl" and for being one half of the music duo She & Him. Currently, she hosts a cooking show on Max called "What Am I Eating?" and stars as Kelly in the third season of AppleTV+'s "Physical."

Zooey Deschanel is joining “Physical” Season 3 on Apple TV+, marking a new addition to the 1980s San Diego-set half-hour comedy about a housewife named Sheila (Rose Byrne) who discovers empowerment via aerobics. The “New Girl” star will portray Kelly, a network sitcom star who ventures into the burgeoning fitness industry.
Executive produced by Byrne and loosely inspired by creator, writer, showrunner and EP Annie Weisman’s real life, “Physical” follows Sheila, a stifled homemaker who seemingly supports her controversial husband’s (Rory Scovel) bid for state assembly, but privately has her own ambitions. While battling personal demons and low self-esteem, she stumbles upon the world of aerobics. In Season 2, Sheila successfully launches her first workout video, only to encounter new obstacles, including being torn between her husband and a new love interest, as well as facing fierce competition on the road to building a fitness empire.

Video Version of this Article Photo: Jim Carrey/Andrea Raffin/Shutterstock I’ve been a Jim Carrey fan for as long as I can remember. I grew up watching ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’, ‘The Truman Show’, ‘Yes Man’, ‘Man on the Moon’ and compilations of his best bits from ‘In Living Color’. I adore the talent that man shares. But I’m not mourning his talent after his announcement of a potential retirement. In fact, I’m celebrating the news. For anyone out there in mourning, however, I don’t think it’s worth the time. You see, Hollywood has a habit of “retiring”, but only for a moment. So, even if Jim goes Mia for a while, that doesn’t mean he’s done with the business just yet. As the Hollywood blockbuster machine continues to dust itself off and release some early winter hits, Hulu is going in a bit of a different direction with its list of new releases for November 2021.
There are no big Hulu original films of note this month. Instead there’s a whole host of original series. The TV parade starts on Nov. 5 with the release of Animaniacs season 2. Also getting a second season this month is monarchal comedy The Great on Nov. 19. The most intriguing series, however, is animated Marvel comedy Marvel’s Hit Monkey. As its name so graciously implies, this is a show about a hit monkey…as in monkey assassin. Naturally the hit monkey is haunted by the ghost of Jason Sudeikis because it’s important that everything make sense.
Though Hulu doesn’t have any original movies in November, its list of library movie titles is quite vast.

Netflix is the king of the streaming world until proven otherwise. But in recent months the streamer’s lists of new releases have looked relatively sparse as competing media conglomerates remove their titles from Netflix’s library. With its list of new releases for April 2021, however, Netflix appears to have its original production machine operating at high capacity once again.
There are plenty of intriguing Netflix original series and films this month. The one that appears to have the highest blockbuster potential though is the series Shadow and Bone on April 23. Shadow and Bone is adapted from Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha-verse trilogy and should bring another compelling sci-fi/fantasy universe to the streaming world.

When 2021 began, many movie lovers were hopeful April would be the month of the rebound. James Bond was scheduled to (finally) return at the beginning of the month, and Marvel’s Black Widow was waiting at just the end of it. This of course did not happen.
Nevertheless, for those looking for more bite-sized distractions over the usual binging blur on streaming services, there is still relief coming on Netflix. While all of the below movies are relatively recent, chances are you haven’t seen any of them in a long time, if at all. So sit back, relax, and find out the best options to Netflix and chill this April.

Rhys Darby is set for the lead role in the upcoming HBO Max pirate comedy series “Our Flag Means Death,” Variety has learned.
The series was originally ordered at the streamer back in September. It is loosely based on the real life of Stede Bonnet (Darby), a well-to-do gentleman farmer and child of wealth in the 18th century who suffers a mid-life crisis and becomes captain of the pirate ship “The Revenge.”

When you hear that there’s a new Bruce Willis movie to watch, you probably don’t make many positive assumptions about it. But nevertheless, he remains one of Hollywood’s most prolific actors, and there’s no denying that he seems willing to keep churning out films so long as people keep flocking to them.
His newest effort has just landed on Netflix, but we’d advise viewing it at your own risk. Action thriller Hard Kill tells the story of a billionaire CEO (Willis) who hires a mercenary group to protect a deadly piece of tech. But when his daughter is kidnapped, the leader (Jesse Metcalfe) and his team must work fast to protect her and ensure that the lethal technology doesn’t result in humanity’s demise.

Today marks the first big Netflix content drop of November, and it’s bringing with it quite a varied haul. Whether you’re a fan of ultraviolent 70s classics like A Clockwork Orange, enjoy campy thrillers such as Keanu Reeves’ Knock Knock, or maybe want to kick back and laugh a bit with something like Jim Carrey’s Yes Man, you’ll find there’s plenty for you to enjoy with the fresh selections. However, there’s also one surprise addition that the service announced only yesterday, and it’s definitely going to make subscribers very happy.
